First Time Hearing Nightwish | "Perfume Of The Timeless" REACTION 

Hello Fables Folly ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome [BACK] to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This music video is the 1st single released in advance from their upcoming studio album Yesterwynde (2024), featuring Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, .and (at the end) Troy Donockley, multi-instrumentalist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Welcome to Nightwish, a band made up of a group of extremely talented musicians who all play for the song. No egos here and the result is amazing. From your list of bands you have been listening to, it sounds like you might like a bit of a harder beat and I would suggest that you listen to the song "Romanticide" live from the Wacken 2013 concert. The great thing about Nightwish is that no two songs are alike. They range from soft ballads, to music with a definite Celtic influence, to in your face metal. And, with all of that variety, there isn't a bad song in the bunch. Looking forward to following you on your journey.

I love it, the cgi jokes are wonderful, very playful, and I do love the mix with Floor's vocal more as instrument. And Troy's singing of the chorus at the end is so beautiful. Powerful line: we are because of a million loves.

Fantastic reaction! I discovered Nightwish decades ago and since this time, im part of a wonderful journey! You have now discovered 0,1% of the world of Nightwish :) Best Start would be their epic Wacken 2013 concert. They did a DVD/BlueRay with the title "Showtime, Storytime" from this concert. I look this DVD every year 1-2 times and i always get goosebumps...

I have been a die-hard nightwish fan from the very beginning, but I really haven’t enjoyed any of there new song releases for years. Not really into this song either. I’ll just have to keep watching the wacken 2013 performance until they decide to start writing good music again. They really need to drop this evolutionary biology Jurassic park vibe with jungle beat drums.
