This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "Walkin' After Midnight", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love" etc. She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". "Home Free" does a great cover of "Crazy".

She was known for that rich, full voice and beautiful, flawless delivery. Crazy was a smash hit; also Sweet Dreams, and I Fall to Pieces. There was a song called Blue, written just for Patsy, that she was supposed to record but never did, because of her tragic death in a plane crash. It was held back for years until teen country singer LeeAnn Rimes recorded it in a stunning, Patsy-Cline style performance. Its a jaw-dropper, Rimes was just 13 but her voice was (and still is!) incredible.

At age 13, Cline was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever. Speaking of the incident in 1957 she said, "I developed a terrible throat infection and my heart even stopped beating. The doctor put me in an oxygen tent. You might say it was my return to the living after several days that launched me as a singer. The fever affected my throat and when I recovered I had this booming voice like Kate Smith's."

Patsy was one of the best country singers until her untimely death March 5, 1963 in a plane crash. Before her death, she helped paved the way and mentored a young female country singer Loretta Lynn. Please check her out. She sang about things that women DID NOT sing about or talk about because it was improper for a woman to speak her mind but Loretta did. Then Loretta's younger sister Crystal Gayle became a singer in the 70's. Crystal had a beautiful voice and hair down to her knees and still does. She never ever cut her hair in her entire life. Patsy was in the hospital after a car crash and heard Loretta singing on the radio at the Opry and asked someone to bring Loretta to the hospital to meet her. They became close friends immediately.

Patsy Cline was a good friend of Loretta Lynn. She helped Loretta when she first came to Nashville, and she gave Loretta her maternity clothes. Loretta named one of the twins Patsy. She grew up with a great admiration for Patsy & has covered her songs. Blue was written for Patsy Cline but she died before she could record it. The song sat in hibernation waiting for another woman who could sing it properly...Leann did it.]

Just in the unlikely case that no one has mentioned it before this, but this song was written by Willie Nelson. He wrote bunches of hits for other country artists, before he hit it big as part of the Outlaw Country movement in the 70s. Oh, also in case no one has mentioned it, the reason she's wearing that "headband" is that she made this television appearance not long after leaving the hospital where she'd recovered from a very serious car accident. Her head injury hadn't yet completely healed, so the headband was there to cover up the wound and bandage.

I used to have an old recording of her songs before someone advised her to slow the tempo down. She came out being kind of 'rock' a 'billy'.
