Geoff Tate was the vocalist here. Fabulous vocals. My favorite Queensryche is the entire Operation Mindcrime album, a concept album that tells a story.
I love Geoff Tate’s voice. He’s not part of Queensryche anymore after a big falling out between band members years ago, but he still tours and still sounds like this. “Silent Lucidity” was definitely their most popular single. “Take Hold of the Flame” is probably the best display of his 4-octave vocal range
Geoffe Tate is an incredible vocalists...one of the best ever!!! There has to be something in the water in Seattle, so many HUGE voices come out of that 1 City. Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Ann Wilson and more
Queensryche is awesome, glad this deep cut was recommended. For a somewhat similar vibe, try Sanctuary, great song from the magnificent Warning album. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
the lyrics to this song are extremely relevant in todays world " what's behind the words and images they know will please us" Are you aware or just blind
Greatest band ever. Geoffs voice is second to none. Their lyrics are always powerful! Seen them 13 times. Seen Geoff twice. He has such a beautiful voice. Opera training has did him well and we are all blessed because of it. Ryche On
1 of the tightest, most ahead of their times band of the early 80's. Thw musicianship was off the charts! I saw them in 85 rage for order album which is my favorite of all time and then in 89 operation mindcrime tour. Top 5 best live bands ive ever seen live. Just like putting the cd in and pressing play... they sounded 100% as recorded.. hit everything note for note n didnt miss 1.
@@AsiaandBJ For Queensryche ballads / ballad like songs, check out Someone Else, One More Time, The Bridge, Another Rainy Night, Lady Wore Black, I Dream In Infrared.
The album track is even better. I didn’t realize at first that this version was different until I was mock playing it…and the next part was skipped. We use to cover this when I played in a band years ago.
A few things... I'm thrilled that one of my favorite reaction channels has reacted to this song. I'm assuming you've already reacted to their biggest hit, "Silent Lucidity" (of of the same 1991 album, "Emoire"). Sadly, the version you reacted to was greatly shortened from the full-length album version. You should listen to that version to get the full effect (I'm guessing it's 6 minutes or so long, maybe even longer). I love this song. Lead vocalist is Geoff Tate. Ironically, this band was from Seattle. I think they would have been huge if not for another moment that was emerging from Seattle at the same time this album came out that totally changed the direction of rock and roll for a while. (Think Nirvana and Pearl Jam).
Wife here..., WOW..Sooooo coool to hear someone reacting to this song!!!..This is one of my personal favorite 's of Queensryche!!!"..Almost Haunting"..Perfect Description!!!🤘🌹
We had some serious Ryche fans in the chat that night. Fantastic track and I've never seen any of the major reaction channels check it out before. Great reaction as usual, Asia and BJ!
"Anybody listening?" was another ballad from Queensryche's 1990 album 'Empire'... it didn't do as well as 'Silent lucidity' (from the same record) but was still a standout single (6 total from the album) and it sold 3 million copies in the US alone. Back in 1990, Chris DeGarmo (guitar) who was the band leader and chief songwriter at the time, wanted a more "radio-friendly" album after the platinum-selling success of 'Operation: Mindcrime' and a massive tour w/ Metallica... Queensryche were a band that always decided on an idea for a record and worked to make it a reality... 'Empire' delivered 11 songs and contributions from most members... Geoff Tate (vocals) wrote a bulk of the lyrics. Every song was unique and very catchy... they had the arena rock tunes... the ballads ... the metal riffs... and also some variety. "Della brown" was a jazzy number w/ bass grooves... it was all still Queensryche. The band launched the 'Building empires' tour as headliners in 1990 and performed the entire 'Operation: Mindcrime' album live... one show was recorded for the 'Operation: Live crime' live video and album. And Queensryche also performed on 'MTV Unplugged'. The downside of the band touring from 1990 to 1992 was that they were drained in the end... Geoff Tate ended up getting divorced and the band was on hiatus for months before finally recording a new album in 1994, and it was a darker and more acoustic album than before - 'Promised Land'.
Their new album (Digital Noise Alliance) is pretty awesome too even though most of us know it's not Geoff Tate on vocals who hasn't been with the band for many years.
Queensryche has so many great songs that make you think....One of my favorites by them is 'I will remember'. Another great one is 'Bridge' which is about a relationship between him and his Dad.
In the Seattle -Tacoma Metro area, Ann Wilson (Heart ❤), Geoffrey Tate (Queensryche), late Layne Staley, RIP, (Alice in Chains) and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) shared the same singing coach, the late David Kyle, RIP. They all know each other. 😃 The audio here is from the music video. The full version has a straight ending with sound effects. Great 👍 song 🎵 Suggested video 📹: Queen 👸 of the Reich.
I’ve noticed more and more recently. People are finally after 30+ years awakening to the musical geniuses this band featured. I’m glad they are finally being acknowledged for what they brought to the table. Nothing like it.
I grow up to this song. My uncle always had the rock station on Z rock now kupd. Scorpion, van Halen, iron maiden, so many more. I myself is a 80 rock fanatic.❤
The news, is the perfect example. Don't take everything at face value. Your either lied to, or only told the part they want you to know. Tate does have an almost hypnotic voice. I believe he could make even a bad song sound decent.
Hey Asia and BJ! Love your reactions! More Queensryche please, the entire Empire & Operation Mindcrime albums are pure fire!! Also, please check out Frank Marino, I suggest you start with "It’s Begun To Rain Live From The Agora Theater", amazing, outstanding performance. Frank is under rated✌️ ☮️ 🇺🇸🎵 Much love from SETX
I think this is my favorite song by Queensryche. They are amazing! I saw them live when they did Operation Mind Crime. Blew my mind. They were so ahead of their time. To me this song is about someone living in a dystopian future and taking to the sea in a sailboat to escape it. That is just what I envision and I think it ties into their other songs that are a warning of what may await us if we aren't vigilant.
If you're looking for ballads / ballad like songs , then check out from Queensryche Someone Else, One More Time, The Bridge,, Another Rainy Night, Lady Wore Black, I Dream In Infrared,
Other Queensryche songs that you guys need to check out . Empire , Another Rainy Night , The Best I Can , The Lady Wore Black , Jet City Woman , Hand On Heart , I Don't Believe In Love & Eyes Of A Stranger .
You want a power ballad? Try "Hand on Heart" off the same album. Geoff is incredible. Yes, he has range, but there's way more too his voice than the top notes hit. In fact, some of my favourite moments of his are when he's in some of his lower registers and his tone, melody and phrasing choice is just beautiful. I would kill for somebody on here to be exposed to the Promised Land album. It was my first time hearing Geoff's voice and what got my hooked. The haunting, melancholic melodies of "Out of Mind", the desperate emotional journey of the title track, the stunning lows and gorgeous phrasing of Lady Jane, and ending with quite possibly the vocal performance of his career. The shiver inducing vocal/piano duet of Someone Else. None of those insane fifth octave wails are present, but take the time to really listen and I challenge you to not have the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. To not be taken on an emotional journey. That album changed my life. Not to mention opening me up to the world of progressive music. Not a single weak track.
Check out Silent lucidity and Take hold of the flame. Especially for a live performance, Take hold of the flame is one of the top songs that shows off his vocal prowess. 👍💪
If it is not clear to everybody what he is talking about in this song then you have not been alive long enough on this planet or just have not been granted enough consciousness to understand. That is not to put you down or judge you. It is what that is. To me, this song represents completely my current state of mind. Ooh, how I long for sailing away with the warm breeze because there is not much I can do alone.
Hello my favorite peeps! ❤️ I’m not sure if you’ll ever read this, but I’d absolutely love for y’all to do a reaction to Queensryche’s ‘Silent Lucidity’ I guarantee that you’ll love it 🥰
Everyday I wake up with songs in my head, don't know why but think i's sort of a message to me..anyway, today t was this song. I have always loved this song, it wasn't as popular as many others on this album but it was a good message that seems relevant right now...does anyone see what's going on in the world? Is anybody listening? I hope so...I know I do.
Listen up everybody. Go check out Geoff Tate's latest concert videos here on RU-vid. He's got his old voice back! He sounds amazing again. Much better than that joke of a lead singer in Queensryche now. Then go listen to that trash can have to use electronic enhancements to even sound sort of decent.
Disagree with you. I've seen them twice with Todd LaTorre and he does an great job. I say that as a Queensryche fan of 35 yrs, I have all of their albums and all of Geoff Tate's solo stuff. Tate is 1 of my top 5 favorite vocalists. Seen QR 2X with LaTorre & 2X with Tate. Seen Tate solo 4X. I agree, Tate sounds great again. I've seen Tate in 2016 and was disappointed. Saw him again in 2018, 2019 & 2020 and he got better each time. In 2018 & 2019 he did Operation Mindcrime in its entirety which I saw QR do in 1991 on the Empire tour. In 2020, he did Rage For Order & Empire in their entirety. In 1994, saw them do Promised Land in its entirety.
@@mikenastasi8927 Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Even if it's the incorrect one. La Torre is, and will always be, the Dollar General of Queensryche vocalists.
Arrrrrrrrgh, you chose the single edit. Album version is much, MUCH, much better. P.S. You gotta crank this band up. 1 of the best metal bands of the 80s to early 90s.
@Mike Nastasi they did? I thought that was Take Hold Of The Flame, I'm used to seeing the original video with Eyes Of A Stranger that maybe they just did the album version with no video! OK, thank you for letting me know, I'll look for it!
