Rose Royce "I Wanna Get Next To You" "I'm Going Down" "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" are huge hits and beautiful soulful songs and "Car Wash" is a fun song. They did the soundtrack to the movie "Car Wash" which is an awesome soundtrack and a pretty cool movie.
Did you ever see the movie Car Wash? Its really good. I was a kid then, but one of the people in a small role ended up with a great career, Annie Potts of Designing Women & the orig. Ghostbusters (receptionist). In Car Wash she doesn't even look the same. She's the cashier (much heavier then) spraying hairspray & putting on makeup.
@@LG-kx8xl that was Melanie Mayron, not Annie Potts, that played the Car Wash cashier. There was definitely a resemblance. Melanie went on to direct a lot of TV shows, some I'm sure you'd recognize. She also did a good amount of acting.
Recently saw a video of her and she was sitting down because she uses a cane to help her walk, and the crowd was in awe of her singing. She sounds as good today as back then, it's hard to believe.
"CAR WASH" (1976...) and "LOVE DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE" (1978...) are two more tracks (by this group...) that were HUGE back in the day - check them out!
My goodness! It's been years since I heard this song. My Mum used to play it when I was little on the record player. Thank you for bringing it back to me!
Love it! Two unbelievable songs for you-- "How 'Bout Us?", by Champaign, and "Don't Leave Me This Way," by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. The late, great Teddy Pendergrass was the lead singer of the Blue Notes.
Another song that John Singleton used in Baby Boy perfectly...man they don't make singers like this anymore. RIP John...you brought back these music to the younger generation.
Through some you reacters I am rediscovering just how blessedly inundated my generation was with beautiful music. Thank you for reminding me of that fact.
This was the jam back in my day and they are a mighty and powerful group. They will bring it my brother (Big Time). You would have been in trouble in my time, we had so many good groups, artists and great music. Thanks for playing this jam.
oh yes one of the greatest of the 70's music scene! I love them and listened to them everyday. THIS is REAL music! Thanks for the reaction and I hope you check out this group's complete catalog!
What a wonderful flashback! This was truly a beautiful song. I can't believe this same group did the song Car Wash. The two songs are like night and day but both really great! You have to check out Car Wash.
Nearly on Motown! The band were at Motown but signed to Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong's label when those two top writer/ producers left Motown to go there own way. Amazing isn't it? Do NOT miss "Love Don't Live Here Any More."
Part of what you're sayn is right rouX we done some recording 4 the temptations n other Motown acts.. we were there n wasn't sign 2 them... now at one point they wanted us 2 sign but was sign 2 Norman Whitfield but Barrett Strong was not with Norman when we were sign 2 him... no music of Barrett was on r n our catalog of music Norman Whitfield, Mark Davis, n RR were the creators of RR music ... RR love u guys u made us who we r 2day ....by the way Norman n Barrett never had a record label just Norman ... WHITFIELD RECORDS
Sooo many artist over the years have covered this song, it's truly a gorgeous tune! Thanks for reacting to it. Have you listened to "Car Wash" by RR yet? That's a fun one!!
This became popular again in 1992 when "The Cover Girls" did a version, as well as a re-mix that was quite popular in the clubs I was frequenting at that time
I remember this now I've heard it again, I love this song and the group. I agree with your thoughts about the band and their lead singer, they had many hits here in the UK but sadly I don't remember them, that's usual for me nowadays. I am so glad you really enjoyed listening to this wonderful song as I did everytime I have heard it. Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
Yeah I remember going to the movie theater with my cousin to see ‘ Car Wash ‘. It was a good and funny movie with great music, greetings from Chicago, Il.
Oh my Jovaughn, this is such a great song from this group as well as other songs - Car Wash or Love Don't Live Here Anymore. Seal did a wonderful cover of Love Don't Live Here Anymore. If you like this type of smooth, please try Billy Preston & Syreeta - With You I'm Born Again. Thanks for this.
This song was used as the title music for the TV series "The 10th Kingdom" - the opening sequence where New York turns into a fantasy land is just magical. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MX6vSOAPAF4.html
"Love don't live here any more" is another ballad by them and is at least as good a this. They also had a couple of big disco hits "Car wash", and "Is it love you're after". Gwen Dickey was a fabulous vocalist!
What a great song, loved this song back in the day, love it ❤️ today just as much...❤️💙💛🖤🖤💛💙❤️. Thanks for always bringing us the very best musIc from all genre's & all era's...you the dude!! 🙂🙂🙂
LOVE this song. One other version worth checking out is Teena Marie's. Hard to believe this is the same band that did "Car Wash;" just shows their versatility. Agree with another poster who mentioned their songs "I Wanna Get Next To You" and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" as worthy listens.
