Chris Cornell was also a solo artist and in another band called Audioslave. Like a Stone was probably Audioslave's biggest hit.

Chris Cornell was the singer for Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, too. Audioslave's Like a Stone and Cochise are great. Soundgarden's Rusty Cage and Outshine are freakin 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Temple of the Dog's Hungry has Eddie Vetter from Pearl Jam singing on the track with Chris.

Soundgarden was one of the 4 huge "grunge" bands that emerged with a huge splash out of the Seatlle area in the very early 90's. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains were the other three, none bigger than Nirvana.

Soundgarden is Chris Cornell's main band. It's his main squeeze. After that he has his awesome cult favorite side project Temple of the Dog. Then there is his second band that is all the Rage Against the Machine members with Chris on vocals instead of Zack called Audioslave. And then he's got an absolute ton of solo music as well. Chris is Prolific to say the least.

You're 21 right Twon? Imagine being 21 like I was when this song and band first came on the scene (and Pearl Jam and Nirvana).... dude, it was life changing and I'm being VERY sincere about that!! Grunge was desperately needed by us Gen Xer's. While I love many different genres from many different Era's (including Led Zeppelin and Classic Rock), The Grunge guys were to me and many in my generation what Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd were to our parents! They just "spoke" to us!! LOVED seeing you really vibing with this song and Chris' other-worldly voice!! Keep going with them and Grunge/Alternative Rock..... "Black Hole Sun" and "Outshined" are 2 more Soundgarden hits you NEED to check out! GREAT reaction!!

I think for your generation (in your teens and early 20's) LZ and PF were very influential and music like that was new. Four Non Blondes are considered "Alternative" Rock, and I love them too. Grunge/Alternative Rock are close though. The Grunge bands however didn't like that name (at first). They considered themselves Rock. That being said, the term Grunge was given because lyrically, their music is "grungy/messy" and they sing often with a specific vocal twang. This song for example is about depression. If you're interested, a married couple who I'm subbed to (They're sweet as heck!! you may even recognize a few people in the comments) did "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam" last night. It was inspired by the death of a homeless Veteran who Eddie Vedder once Knew. It's about Veterans/homelessness/mental illness.... it's a cool song (and Eddie Vedder is my LONG-time crush! ;) I left a comment there explaining that song. Anywhoo, I'm SO relieved the Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd reference helped you understand my (and many in my generations) love of Grunge and Alternative Rock. I almost edited it out!! hehe!! ;) ;)

This is Chris Cornell lead singing this! He has the BEST voice that came out of the grunge era of music! He was the lead singer of a few different bands Soundgarden, Audio Slave and Temple of the Dog where he did the great duet Hunger Strike with Eddie Vedder! RIP Chris! 🙏🙏

Chris Cornell had one of the greatest voices in rock. I was lucky enough to see him in a small venue in Nashville and his voice made the hair stand up on the back of yer neck! You know that's funny, I've heard some say the same thing, that STP was the 5th Great of Grunge but then, I've heard others who were HUGE STP fans vehemently disagree and insist that the Pilots were Alternative Rock.... I'm torn on that one. lol!! What I am certain of is the 4 Greats of Grunge..... Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice Chains!! I look back on my Grunge days FONDLY.... there will never be anything like Grunge ever again!! :(

Hey Tina! Yes it does seem to be a topic of conversation lol. Me personally I LOVE STP! Maybe it was just the timing that makes me consider them one of the Grunge bands (though there is a slight difference) but I love all 5. PJ always being my personal favorite. Yes sadly there will never be another era like the Grunge ERA! 😭😭. It was something special. I guess it really brings me back to going into HS! Every song on every album from all of those bands seemed to be fire! 👏🔥 I need a time machine Tina!!! 😭😂

Soundgarden is performing the song in the video. Just like Beastie Boys did in their 3 MCs & 1 DJ video. You can tell the difference if you have heard the radio, album &video versions. You're the first reactor that hasn't reacted to Chris Cornell. It's a must. Let his 4octave bombastic voice entice the senses. Or one, hearing. In addition to Soundgarden. He played in TEMPLE OF THE DOG and AUDIOSLAVE. As a solo artist. He did amazing covers of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean & a Prince written song made famous by a female artist Sinead O'Connor in 1991. Nothing Compares 2 U. Please check out his discography. I think you will like. I miss him😪

I personally, would love to here your lyrical breakdowns on songs! It's always interesting to hear other people's takes on songs you've listened to for years.... sometimes they get something from the lyrics that you never did in 25+ years of listening!! And a lot of songwriters write their lyrics using double entendre and or leave them open to interpretation for them to mean whatever they will to the listener.... that's the beauty and power of music!! ;) ;)

Chris Cornell died 4 years ago. He sang with Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, Audioslave and had solo songs. Most of his music is considered grunge/ hard rock. I had the pleasure of shooting photos(I'm a photographer for a radio station) Soundgarden about 3 weeks before he passed away. Huge loss for the music industry.

You can watch the last concert here on youtube. After the Soundgarden show at the Fox theater in Detroit in 2017 he hung himself in his hotel room. He has done a lot of solo stuff and also the lead singer of "Audioslave". Lots of good songs you should check out, Spoonman, Blackhole sun, 4th of July, The day I tried to live, Mailman, Outshined, Pretty Noose, Blow up the outside world, Burden in my Hand.

AH YEAH! I was about your age, (early 20's) when that Seattle Sound hit. It started with Queensrych in 1987 & 88, then Nivana, Pearl Jam & Soundgarden in 1991. I always thought that Chris had the best voice. His daughter sang a tribute to her father and Chester Bennington of Lincoln Park on GMA right after Chester took his life and she performs every now and then. Like her Dad she has a great voice.

I would recommend some of Soundgarden's lesser known songs that really showcase Chris Cornell's range. "Beyond the Wheel", "New Damage", "Slaves & Bulldozers", "Like Suicide", "Mailman", "Rhinosaur", "Blind Dogs", "Cold Bitch" and "Black Rain" are just a few great ones I can think of off the top of my head. Soundgarden is grunge/alternative rock...other bands from that era and music genre are Tool, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction. I'd recommend an 80's/90s band to react to called Steelheart. The song? I'll never let you go. The man has one of the best voices in the history of humankind. Strong statement, but nevertheless true.
