Stevie Ray and Double Trouble - at Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center NYC)....Got to see/hear the boys at this incredible concert. Stevie and that Fender shared the same Soul. Everyone of his fingers had a 'blues brain'.....a complete, incredible package.

I seen him live 3 times and had tickets for the tour he was on when he was killed the thing with stevie is you never heard him play the song the same way twice , he knew the basic structure of where he was going with the song and the drummer and bassist would drive the beat and stevie would just play what ever he was feeling within the structure of the turn that night while from time to time drop back in and reconnect with the band and throw in a few vocals and then he'd be off again, doing his thing and it just worked

I got to see him live in Los Angeles for the Texas flood tour at the sports arena. I don't know if video exists? During Texas flood he stood on the body of his famous SRV fender and pulled up on the neck for distortion ! He lifted himself off the stage. We were all, NO,NO don't you'll break it. He just kept playing. I just feel so lucky to have seen him live.

You sir are one of the very very few that actually took notice to the fact that not only is he playing behind his back, but also he's playing with the guitar strings towards him. Everything is upside down and reverse but the weight alone you have to hold and accomplish while playing is simply just tough. Phenomenal is the only way to describe what this man is doing. And also another thing you mentioned, straight off you recognize his giftness with guitarism. And then you hear that voice like melted butter. Absolutely amaze balls!

He died in a helicopter crash in August 1990 in Eagleton WI he was 35. He had a older brother Jimmy. STEVIE I KICKED DRUGS AND ALCOHOL I believe 84 or 86. His band was called Double Trouble eventually he brought in a keys. He was on tour with Eric Clapton. Yes he preferred the Strat.

Makes me proud to be a Texan! One of the many things that amazes me about SRV is no matter how many videos I’ve seen he never played a song the same way twice. It’s always different. Which tells me it’s all coming from inside of him. My opinion the best to ever do it

Recorded in 1983. Yes, he would play behind his back on Texas Flood, along with other songs, and he would play behind his head and with his teeth on others. (See Voodoo Chile at the Cotton Club in Finland). At the Cotton Club he shakes a guys hand during Voodoo Chile and keeps playing the fret board at the same time. SRV 🎸🐐

Popped a string, continued playing like nothing happened. Then threw Number One on the ground as a "punishment" for breaking on him. Then after he hands the guitar to his guitar tech, as he's walking back to the mic, he shrugs to crowd like he was saying, "she had it coming" lol

The deference between the way they played then and now is back in the day you needed talent now if you got the look their looking for they can make you sound good with Reverb and overdubbing they can make anybody sound like a professional back then they didn't do all that you had to actually sound good and play your instrument in public

Yeah, SRV was a BadA$$ Player, called the best Player on the Planet by Clapton, who said ( paraphrased ) " He was like an open channel & the music just flowed out of him & he was never lost"...Please check out SRV playing with Clapton: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mOJAwJA6IKg.html...; With Jeff Healey : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2HmLFyvFxTc.html...With Johnny Copeland ( a masterpiece) : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGPx-ekqZEo.html...Anything live from El Macambo as the comments below suggest...There just ain't no bad SRV song. And yeah that beat up POS GUITAR is a Fender Strat , which was his favorite to play, & was strung so heavy that most guitarists would have a difficult time playing, let alone get the sound that SRV could.

george thorogood did 1 wiskey 1 bourbon 1 beer. The reason music is so different is b/c the music industry has created a formulatic genre based on what they have found sells the most. There is actually research studies and aritcles about how music is scaled down to sell to the masses now. Might have something to do w/more stuff to distract, but imo it's the industry duming it all down for the most possible sells.
