I think the waitress in the airplane window is supposed to be the Statue of Liberty.....impersonated by a 1960's breakfast waitress. Love the humor there!

You're not stupid! You're willing to learn, and that's commendable. Good on you.

Trust me darlin, you are not an idiot. You just have a great ear and appreciation of good music and talent! Comparing Chicago, Supertramp and Pink Floyd proves that!!! Music of my generation with no auto-tune or over the top productions, just pure raw talent! Love from Texas 🤠

Great song! Glad you are doing more of this group. They had so many hit songs in the 70's-80's such as "Dreamer", "Give A Little Bit", "Goodbye Stranger", "Rudy", "Take The Long Way Home", "School", "It's Raining Again", "Bloody Well Right", "My Kind Of Lady", "Cannonball", "I'm Beggin' You", "You Win, I Lose" etc.

Oh for the days when musicianship mattered more than image. Take The Long Way Home and Dreamer are also great Supertramp songs and both very different - hope you react to them.

Not stupid. Lol. It means both. You weren’t necessarily wrong. Often times these types of names or words are meant to be open for interpretation or have dual meanings. Alll is good.

You know, the levels of musicianship back in the day were generally very high, even if the band or group were local or regional. It's hard to compare the sound of real instruments combined with excellent songwriting, more dynamic use of chords and harmonies, etc.., to the music from the recent decades. You even mentioned the use of instruments that aren't used much anymore, and yes, it does wonders to our enjoyment indeed!

My personal memory of Supertramp. Road tripping from AZ to San Diego to San Fran with my pops back in 1979. He, being a conservative business sort who always donned long sleeve shirts, poly pants, tighty whities and wing tip shoes, became an instant fan of the band. We must have listened to the cassette tape 50 times, with a bit of Sinatra and Santana in between. It was a great father/son bonding experience. I took my own son a similar trip after her graduated. I highly recommend all the fathers out there to take a son or daughter trip. Take the long way home.

Thank you for the reaction - glad you are enjoying some Supertramp! One day you should definitely react to each and every song (there are only eight) off the Crime of the Century album! And then you can get started on the next three albums after that! What a ride you are in for!!

Next recommended Supertramp song: “Bloody Well Right” I recommend you listen to the studio/audio version first before listening to a live performance. There is an awesome piano intro and amazing saxophone outro that will blow your mind. They change up those solos in the live performances so catch the original first and you’ll appreciate the others more.

The standard in Britain at that time was very very high and just getting airplay,it had to be a belting song. Fortunately, this wasn’t a problem. What an era, what a time to be young,we were NEVER in. Compare to todays phone zombies, the tech drones that they have become listening to utter dogshit. Yes,I’m a music snob but I saw Hendrix and The Doors live and attended hundreds of concerts in that magical time.
