Supertramp was technically such a tight group. The high energy and lighthearted quality are what stand out for me. Love this whole album, too.

this song seems simple but isn't! every note (keyboards guitar bass drums) played the right moment whit the right sound and the dynamic development is masterful

Their hit Bloody Well Right from the earlier Crime of the Century album is a total banger and so much fun. One of my favorite rock outros with somebody going nuts on the guitar is Sweet Memories from the middle of side B of the Rush 2112 album. The very very last thing you can hear if you listen closely is Alex Lifeson doing this crazy wild out-of-control unexpected bend really up high. It's just total hardcore jam craziness, which I'm sure they jammed on that for another minute or two after the fade-out.

So glad you let the guitar solo play. It's really the best part of the song

Great song! The way the guitar solo develops is genius. Steely Dan does a lot of outtro guitar solos, just teasing you to turn up the volume as it fades.

Regarding the high falsetto backing vocals, it does kind of sound like the Bee Gees but to me it is has always reminded me of doo-wop backing vocals from the 1950s.

If you're new to Supertramp a few other great tunes that you might not have heard is "Bloody Well Right", "School", "Fool's Overture". Although pretty much their entire catalog is great. But the songs I mentioned were amongst their bigger songs.

Keep in mind that, Pop is simply short for, Popular Music. So, technically, any song that made it on a Hit List is considered Pop. 👍🏽😁

A friend of mine was a confirmed bachelor. We were on a dart team together and so we went to bars. He was the life of the party and he was always saying that 3 words would never come out of his month ... "I love you"... he was usually with one for a few days then move on. There were times when one would move in with him, but he would not let her stay for more than a few months and didn't let her tie him down. There was an occasion that one of them latched on to him. They would go out dancing and she would get jealous. I heard women criticize him. He would tell her go with someone else. Me for one. But he did always made it clear to everyone That those 3 words would never come out of his mouth.

I was just thinking that when you stopped the video to mention it. I have heard this song so many times but never thought about it that way until I saw your reaction. I used to own this record when it first cam out in 1979. Bee Gees were Disco and this was prog and you just never thought about it that way

This is one of my favorite Supertramp songs. Definitely in my top 5. In response to people telling you to settle down. That is entirely up to you. If you're not ready, then it wouldn't likely work anyway. You settle down when you're ready. On that note, you should check out Hank Williams Jr. - "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ct8V4nF9oOI.htmlsi=LZDLTsB7sk2tQwOV

A better thing to call it would be Pop-Rock Pop by itself you be more like Olivia Newton John, John Denver, The Carpenters, Tony Orlando & Dawn, Hellen Reddy and songs that would get airplay on AM Radio Supertramp would be played on FM and that was for more hardcore also you need to check out Steely Dan. They even have a song called FM

"Rudy" is for me one of their best work, from the album "Crime of the Century " Comparing to Bee Gees is a joke!!! "Breakfast in America" was just their more commercial era! For me "Crime of the Century", "Crisis? What Crisis?", "Even in the Quietest Moments" was the best of the band....

Never paid this much attention to the lyrics,but-- I can't believe the ladies would respect this type of 'attention'. And now that I'm tuned in to the lyrical bent-especially that 'devil is my savior' line, I have a newfound disrespect for the the song and lyricist. Respect this? Nope--no can do,bro. T

This whole song is replete with marihuana slang and references. It's about having to quit weed - ostensibly for a job hire
@hanierfamily
@hanierfamily Год назад
You spelled it wrong.
@matthewstover5149
@matthewstover5149 Год назад
@hanierfamily No, mine is the FEDERALLY MANDATED spelling of America's Founding Crop - this is the only one of two Laws that remain intact from FDR's 1937 Enactment and subsequent SCOTUS Case, US vs Timothy Leary 1969, which lead as you should know to President Nixon's CSA 1970. (Passed without requisite constitutional amendment, mind you) This is why every single criminal prosecution case in the United States exclusively spells it this particular way
@hanierfamily
@hanierfamily Год назад
@@matthewstover5149 And it is still the improper spelling of the word. Intentionally, by the government. The actual term you should be using is cannabis. It is a plant that has been villainized by the American government to to help chemical and oil companies in making huge profits, because hemp, what they really wanted to make illegal, would bankrupt them.
