100%. Never liked Every Breath, but I love almost all their other stuff. When you listen to the Police, pay attention to Stewart Copeland on drums. He's one of the best and most innovative rock drummers ever. Top-3 for me. Incredible variety of fills, off-beat hits, in-between beat hits, etc. Sometimes with a little reggae or jazz twist. He's incredible. There are a ton of great Police songs worth listening to. Another one that is really simple and elegant but slaps is Walking on the Moon -- incredible bass line, genius drums and cool lyrics.
The bass line in this song sounds similar to the bass line in the song/music video, “Seven Nation Army”, by The White Stripes, which was released in 2003 on the V2 Records label in the US. It has been re-released numerous times in Europe, and becoming a hit again every single time. It is one of the biggest hit songs of the 21st Century.
The main push of this song.. is that "I feel alone, isn't anyone there to hear me." And the close is : "Oh shit... everybody is lonely and they all want people to hear them. Shouldn't we listen?" It's beautiful
I saw them in concert the summer of 1982. It was great, aside from back then they only had general seating and I just about got trampled. Looking forward to “Every Little Thing” and “Roxanne.”
"Every little thing she does is magic" ... 'Wrapped around your finger'... by The Police are more pop-oriented songs, but my faves 🔥 Strangely, Rush (the band) said they became big fans of The Police, who came after them... In fact, Rush's 1980 album 'Permanent waves' was inspired by the music of The Police and other British new wave bands.
Invisible Sun and Walking On The Moon are two more classics. You’ll miss a lot if you don’t check some album tracks too. Like the track Darkness or The Bed’s Too Big Without You to name just two.
So DEF Roxanne.. you very well might know it depending on a certain movie 😂. Police was one of those ERA things. Started as punk/reggae ish and Fkn awesome. They hit and were still really good but more commercial. Check out Roxanne ( 1st album, put them on the map big time).. Walking on the Moon…Can’t Stand Losing You..The Beds to Big Without You.. Synchronicity II… sO many more
My personal favorite is "Spirits In a Material World." Wanna hear some reggae? Then please react to "The Bed's Too Big Without You" by The Police. It is another of their beautiful styles of music. ✌️🎶💙
2nd time you decided to check out the lyrics mid song ( the first was Sounds of Silence ) Suggestion : Love your insight . Having the lyrics up makes your job easier and you can still focus on the music itself PS- I add reviewers judiciously . Congrats .. you made the list 🤣
Your reactions have been fire. I like how you go the extra mile to research the band itself. A band I think you'll enjoy that has a wealth of talent on all fronts is Dream Theater. It doesn't really matter which song you choose. It's truly something you can vibe out to
This bands music would die a death if it wasn’t for RU-vidrs like yourself raising awareness of their work with new generations where this earlier track still sounds raw and spontaneous. - Far more so than the over-produced Every Breath You Take where pre-planning went to extreme’s and left the final cut sounding clinical compared to the vibrance and energy of their early material from the 70s.
more of their songs.....Reggae = Beds too Big Without You......Story= Don't Stand So Close To Me.......thoughtful lyric= King Of Pain...barely scratching the surface of their hits over their 5 albums
Their first three albums were the best, after that, they went too pop for me. Check out Canary in a Coalmine, Can't Stand Losing You, Walking on the Moon, Next to You, So Lonely, and Bring on the NIght. True gems.
Early in their career, the Police did a show in my town at a popular club. To gain admittance, you had to be blonde (male or female), well that left me out.
“Bass line” this and that. Everything musically popular has been used and recycled for commercial purposes over and over again. Name or not, the early Po-lease first album/lo/vinyl rendering/recording were a great band!
Written by Sting. This is 1 of the rockers. The guitar 🎸 from Andy Summers is great 👍 Stewart Copeland mixes raggae with blues on drums 🥁. Suggested videos 📹: 1 The Police perform King of Pain 2 Sting, Bryan Adams and Rod Stewart sing All for Love.
