Cliff Burton is a genius He died way to young

The last thing he did was to play a game with Kirt Hammett as to who would get the top bed. Kirt won. In another dimension, Kirt died and Cliff Burton lives on because it's that bed that got struck by a driver.

You have definitely got to check out Cliff Burton's individual bass track on this song. His bass playing was definitely unique. You absolutely must listen to "Orion" from the "Master of Puppets" album at some point. The beginning of this song was written by Dave Mustaine and later used it in the Megadeth song "Hangar 18" which you reacted to a while back Lilly. Cliff Burton was also really into the Cthulu mythos by Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The novella "The Shadow over Insmouth" was adapted by Metallica on the song "The Thing That Should Not Be" on the "Master of Puppets" album.

I don’t honestly know if any of his recordings done in the studio made it to the album, but as I said before, this song is like a companion piece to Hangar 18. Call of Ktulu Live at Lyceum Theater, London 1984
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 Год назад
James Hetfield said that after (the late) Cliff Burton joined, he would teach the band about song structure, arrangements and melodies by bringing in classical music tapes to rehearsals. His input was invaluable as he was a schooled musician and made Metallica more accessible than most thrash metal bands. 'The call of Ktulu' was inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's fictional monster, and this instrumental was made like a movie soundtrack... Dave Mustaine was credited w/ the music. After Cliff Burton died in 1986, Metallica stepped away from the instrumental tracks... they recorded 'To live is to die' on "And justice for all" as a tribute to Burton and used a poem he had written as spoken word on it... They finally tried again in 2008 w/ 'Suicide and redemption', but that was no good... They did write a song about "Ktulu" on the 3rd album 'Master of Puppets'... 'The thing that should not be' 🔥🔥🤘🤘 Start w/ the 1st album "Kill 'em all"... very raw and visceral Metallica... brilliant record, brilliant songs, co-written largely by Dave Mustaine (before he was fired) but played by Kirk Hammett (and James Hetfield). U can hear the progression in Metallica's music.

Not to say dave didn’t have a hand in kill ‘em all but people over play his role it was just Dave everyone forgets the genius of cliff and James and Lars if Dave was there we wouldn’t have the four horseman it would be the mechanix if you hear no life till leather and compare it to kill em all it’s really a different album they changed a lot including the solos
@sumonjamal1653
@sumonjamal1653 Год назад
@@sciontc9240 It wasn't overplayed... Dave Mustaine was the instrumental member in Metallica (he played guitar in their first shows, while James did not) and Ron McGovney was just the bass player... the demo 'No life til leather' - James wrote 'Hit the lights' ... 'Seek & destroy' and 'Motorbreath'... Dave wrote music for all the rest - 'Mechanix'... 'Jump in the fire'... 'Phantom Lord'... 'Metal militia'... and had written music that was used for 'Ride the Lightning' a year later... U forget, Dave was older and had been playing in a gigging L.A. band called Panic as a teen, years before he joined Metallica (he auditioned in 1981 after Panic split up), while Lars had never played in a band... James had been in a garage band w/ McGovney that went nowhere. Dave was much more experienced than all 3 and was very much responsible for Metallica's sound and songs... When Cliff Burton came on board in 1983, his knowledge of music and musicianship helped tighten the band's playing and after Dave was fired, the "Kill 'em all" album had already been written and rehearsed w/ Mustaine... Kirk Hammett came in and had to play Dave's solos in the studio... Years later, Mustaine said "Kill 'em all" was him and James writing mostly... Lars was still developing as a musician and drummer and had very little creative input, but James gave him credit to keep him happy on the business end because he had the connections to get Metallica started. Cliff started truly contributing on the 2nd and 3rd album w/ Kirk... and Lars became more confident and started to give more input on arrangements and song structure. The fact remains that without Dave Mustaine's initial contributions, Metallica might not have had an advantage. U listen to Dave's work on "Killing is my business" and "Peace sells"... that was all him, writing and arranging, and most of the lyrics. Just brilliant! Mustaine's work speaks for itself, how much of a talent he is.
@deletedhero5579
@deletedhero5579 Год назад
@@sumonjamal1653 I think what the guy is saying is Dave's role has been overstated in Metallica which it has vastly. He was more experienced and helped them draw crowds with his knowledge and helped them write some songs. But James still wrote most of the songs and Lars had a vision for Metallica's sound before Dave joined. Lars was also instrumental in gaining them higher networking connections by getting a place on metal massacre and copying the demo to every record company in existance and getting it out there. What's been obersstaed is that Dave wrote the whole first album, taught James guitar and Invented thrash - none of these are true and doesn't take away from his talent.

Metallica - The Outlaw Torn please! It's a different side of Metallica but it's one of their most underrated songs full of emotion and great grooves.
