That chicken quest sure is something! Happy you got it! For any future attempts you may be pleased to hear that you can just mash the everlovin- out of the macro button to speed it up :)
You can use the Up, Down, Left, Right arrow keys to move around. Thats how ive done it for 16 years. I also keybind jump to the (0) next to arrows on the keyboard & bind my main attacks to my mouse buttons. I believe there's also a way to mask unexplored areas viewable on the map without having explore them first in Questie Options.
Wow. I had to just go back and see what you are on about. I cannot for the life of me believe that I missed that playing, missed it editing the video, missed it watching the video before releasing. This is the epitome of tunnel vision for me; not seeing what's in front of my face. Thanks :D

Just on the movement with the mouse buttons - you don't have to hold the left mouse button as well, that's just another way of moving forward! The right mouse button is what actually turns the character, so you can just hold the right mouse button whenever you want to turn while moving with WASD as you usually would. So if you need to turn on the spot, just hold right mouse button and move the camera around to where you want to face

Right outside Northsire Chapel, in Elwynn Forest, where you started at level one, there's a lady in a cottage that sells companion cats. They cost 25 silver each, though. Companion pets don't fight, they're purely cosmetic and to keep you company.

@@zedexgamingchannel If you leave the chapel grounds just as you did at the start of the game, heading toward Goldshire, her cottage is to your right, a little way into the woods. There are lots of cats roaming about the cottage.

You can still teach us old dogs some new tricks... my lvl 1 bank alt character has 25+ pets, some worth hundreds of gold but she hasn't got a Barry yet , because she didn't know you could do that in Westfall. So now I have a little mission to do

@@zedexgamingchannel now I think about it, there will be a few opportunities for you to have an actual large fighting pet, even as a mage, but they will be limited, one time uses, like 10 minutes or an hour. There are a few places in the world you get these in quests or as loot. Guardian pets
Cataclysm is the third expansion for World of Warcraft. It was released around 2011 but Blizzard is doing a relaunch of all the previous expansions and currently its Cataclysm which has just been reactivated about a week ago.

Grats on your pet! Happy moments. :) Nice learning on movement there. It's good to get rid of keyboard turning. Personally I use keyboard turning only on some lazy things when my hand is not on mouse, but nearly never on combat. But the strafing is important from keyboard (for example bind on A and D. Taking steps left or right, fast way to move and dodge some game mechanics and avoid damage. And nice progression on the kiting concept too. Mages are meant to not take many hits from enemies. Skill of kiting is important to get hang of. There the fast mouse turning is important. You might learn later more spells which help on that. Some instant cast slow range slowing spell, and even spell that teleports you forward about 10 meters. You'll be a master mage some day mastering the skills! :) And one thing on moving, if you move backwards, it's quite often not good to just backpedal. It's so slow way to move, and very common novice player thing, not sure if you had it much on vides though. But always try to move forward or strafe, they move you the same max running speed. Actually some advanced kiting method is to not turn your back to the mob, but strafe away. It's like turning 90 degrees to left/right, then strafe into same direction. That way the mob is considered being in front of you the spells, as the casting area is like 180 degrees. Then you can kite and move away from slowed enemy, still casting your instant spells while moving max speed. Dunno if I managed to explain that well though :) Might take some training to learn that method. And as some comments already said about Cataclysm, I recommend that you don't think about it yet at all. Just focus on your leveling journey on classic, and experience the world there. And it's good plan to switch back to retail later at some point. But hoping to see you at 60 before. And what comes to that Cataclysm, it's expansion where the whole world is kinda destroyed, many of the zones will be quite different. So it's very worth to experience it all in pure classic version. And when you get then into retail, there's so much stuff with pets! Can collect hundreds of them, and do even pet battles to level them up etc. But that's for some later times.

Not sure what kiting means - do you mean, running back after freezing? What's that skill called and where can one get it!? Some of your movement suggestions are a bit beyond me, but when I hop back in, in the morning, I will try them out. I will be recording and reading your suggestion, so as a padawan, it's all on you if I mess up lol Yes, I agree - I have decided to completely forget about outside noises within Warcraft and just continue on with what I doing and what I can do here until level 60. I will not leave here for retail until I get to level 60 - that is a certainty in my mind right now :) Thank you, my friend :)
LOL just found your vids and been skimming through a few.. love Barry, and yes getting a chicken can take a while, but there's nothing quite as humbling as standing clucking at a chicken and looking completely ridiculous! From one boomer to another.. have fun and enjoy the ride ;)
hehehe yeah I did feel a little self-aware when I was doing it and I cut a lot of it out. If another player turned up, I felt so silly and stopped and waited for them to leave, so then just went to the back of the farmhouse to embarrass myself alone back there - which is where I then met Barry. I'm having a lot of fun with WoW so far and trust I will do in my onward journey :)
Blue quests are repeatable. Generally they are for grinding out reputations with certain factions. You are playing the Classic version of the game, so you won't get to play the other expansions. Cataclysm Classic is the version of the game that is going back through all the expansions. In order to get the other expansions you'd need to make a new character in that version of the game. (There might be a way to transfer, but I think I heard there wasn't). Cataclysm was the third expansion for the game and reshaped much of the world, added new story and raids. I agree with you going back to retail after you're finished with this as there's little reason to play through Cataclysm. If you do go back to retail I highly suggest you play the Hunter class. You'll get to tame animals from across the world and they'll fight for you. Haha! I told you I wasn't lying about the chicken. I just had you doing it in the wrong place.
Ah, if only I took the time to read more slowly - just saw it says 'repeatable'. Thank you. H'm, I guess I'll just get to level 60 and do something big to end my time in Classic then head over to retail. I really should have a better understanding of retail after all this. I look forward to it! Thank you for the chicken quest recommendation. I made a note. I was never going to ignore the possibility of having a pet once told about it. And now I have one. @@zedexgamingchannel When you make it to Booty Bay there's a goblin that sells parrots. I always used to grab one of them when I played. There's also a little boy that wanders around Stormwind that sells cats, but he's very difficult to track down. But if you ever see him make sure to grab one!
