A unique artist you may like is Warren Zevon. Werewolves of London is a really famous song. His lyrics are incredibly interesting. There’s a great concert on RU-vid dated 1982 live at capital theater. Showcases him really well. Start with Werewolves of London. Excitable boy and Aaint that pretty at all. These will give you a taste of his style. Other people will have really strong opinions about their favorites from him.
You know they were having a blast. Not on tour, not playing because they “have to”, they’re playing because they “want to”. And because of that, we ALL had fun. 😊😊😊
Crazy that Joe Walsh and Stevie Nicks felt they were soul mates, but would destroy themselves and each other with how unhealthy they were at that time in their lives.
On the Bob and Tom show he discussed speaking with Ozzy and that James Gang and Black Sabbath had played many gigs together and neither could remember them. But they knew the gigs happened because they had posters.
@@joycekunzelman7435Good thing for Joe. He had no filters for a long time there. Great for us, but not so good for Joe for a while there. Happy ending!
It's funny. Back in the day Hall and Oates were considered pop and "real" rockers turned their nose up at it (yep, even me). As time has gone by, lines have blurred and everyone tends to appreciate the artistry of everyone more. Now Daryl seems like one of the coolest guys on the planet and all the rockers want to play with him at Daryl's house.
This is funny cuz Daryl and John have a ton of that rock. They played hard rock, punk, little forays into prog, glam you name it. They were all over the place in the ‘70’s. Listen to a song called Johnny Gore & the C Eater Band or Room to Breathe or Alley Katz. All Hall & Oates songs from long ago.
I saw him opening for Night Ranger at Summerfield in Wisconsin when I was 16 I think and I remember thinking WHO IS JOEL WALSH until I heard him play lol
"I'm makin records, my fans they can't wait. They write me letters, tell me I'm great." When Joe was with the Eagles, he'd change up the lyrics sometimes. The most memorable one for me was in 2010 maybe... "They write Glenn letters (I'm thinking he gonna say the fans tell Glenn he's great) ...Tell him I'm great." LOL that shit was funny as hell! 😂😂😂😂😂
Not sure if you’ve watched a full episode, but you should. They have dinner and talk about experiences. It’s a really great show. Pick an artist you really like and watch the whole thing.
Yeah, I've watched a lot of the episodes, the cooking section and sitting around the table are as great as their performances. They just seem like guys you'd like to sit down at the table with.
IMHO Joe Walsh is probably the most underrated musician of all time. The guy is one of the top ten guitar players of all time who can write, sing, and produce with the best of them.
you have a valid point.... hes far too overlooked.... the stuff he did w/ the james gang & later the eagles dominated the era. brought a harmonic gut punch to guitar sounds.... huge influence on petty, guns & roses even nirvana.
I used to work for a company that manufacturers short wave radio equipment and Joe is a long time ham radio operator. He would occasionally order things, and part of my job was to process orders. I would smile every time I saw his info pop up. Also, Gordon Lightfoot. 😊✌️
Cracks me up..."Have you heard how good this brother sounds"? We've been listening to Joe Walsh since the late 70s! Love it when the "young'ns" find these musicians
"You can fix things with digital technology and there's a temptation to fix everything or make it perfect and what you're losing there is the human performance that may not be perfect but there may be magic in it. You can make it perfect but music doesn't sound good perfect for some reason." (Joe Walsh)
Anyone else just want to hang out with Jamel and just listen to music? Some warm summer evening, perhaps a drink or two... seems like it's been decades since I've been able to hang with friends and just enjoy music for the sake of the music.
This whole episode At Daryl's House is amazing.... a must watch ! Joe, Daryl & the band killed it that day..... watch it ✌😎 That's Rock-n-Roll man.... Just like Joe said.... play just to play & look at the fun they are having !
Love Joe Walsh, and the Eagles. Haven't missed an episode of Live at Daryl's House. Daryl Hall is one of the most under rated musicians and song writers, and i'm happy he and Jon Oates are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
You know what I like about this song? It's that Joe Walsh admits that he's got this amazing life, and he's really got nothing to complain about, but does sometimes anyway. He gets it, but he still gets frustrated anyways. It's a very human song.
The music keeps you young. I'm 65 and still listening and rocking to tunes each day. Keep rocking, keep moving, Keep Joking, keep doing things you like, and above all....let go of the hate. That keeps you young. When you stop and give up, that's when you start growing old. Stay young at heart folks.
Joe and Daryl look good for their ages, as well as sound great. Happy and blessed birthday to Daryl. Hope there’s many more years of jamming to come!!! Thanks for this, Brother Jamel!!!
Jamel, sometimes Monday mornings (When you wake up at 3:30 a.m. for work) can really suck. Shuffling around half-asleep, cranky because you *just* don't want to make that drive into work. Still don't want to make that drive, but it sure is better when you hear something like this to make you smile & thankful that you're alive. Appreciate the reaction & the positive attitude brother! Happy Birthday Daryl!!!
"Just think about the conversations they have..." Then you need to watch an entire episode of the show, because they chat and tell stories while eating lunch and supper, which goes together with the music to create the whole "Live from Daryl's House vibe".
You don't have to imagine the conversations they have, bro. If you watch the full episodes. You'll hear the conversations at the dinner table, and while they do some cooking in the kitchen. I've been a working musician and a chef most most of my life. So to me, this show is the pinnacle.
The Eagles are an all time favorite band for me, so this is extra fucking cool! I seriously love that Darryl did this, with all the artists. These are some insane jam sessions ❤️
I've been with you over a year & love your reactions. But found myself especially smiling throughout this one because of your visible, joyful response to the guitars in this wonderful guitar-driven music so many of us grew up with. And it occurred to me that you have become a bonafide Rock fan. And that, dear Jamel, makes me very happy.💙🌿💚
I love to watch musicians 'jam'. This is when you really see how much they love what they do. And the best part, there are no egos or competition; it's all about making the music.
Joe getting clean is one of the greatest things to happen to rock n roll. Think of all the great music that would have been lost if he hadn't sobered up.
what makes this extra extra special...is you know the clock is ticking FAST with all these 70’s guys...so every time they do something great like this, and it’s captured on HQ video...it’s just a blessing, cause every time...might be the last time...you don’t know?? And we are gonna lose so many more in the next decade...not to be a downer. So SEE these peeps while you still can. [tick-tick-tick]
I think I agree with the late-great Glen Frey... ‘Joe is an interesting bunch of guys’! Got to see Mr. Walsh live a few years back when he joined Bob Seger on stage for a few songs. He’s an AMAZING guitarist... and a very good singer!! Thanks for the great review.
I don’t understand the phenomenon of getting chills from a song but I’ve had it happen many times. It’s like something in your soul is touched by the music.
The production quality here is amazing. You can really hear the unique tones of each guitar (and all the instruments) with Joe's beautiful custom and Daryl's unmistakable Telecaster... eargasm!
For a really amazing show of Joe's abilit, you should watch "Somebody Like You" Live from Daryl's House. Probably my most favorite song. Thanks for such a good job Saving the Music!
Hi brother! I burned through every one of Daryl's House videos a couple of years ago and I would always think, "damn, to be a fly on the wall during all of his collaborations!!!"
Jamel, I'm clapping at the end like I was there!!! This was so much fun and kudos to Daryl Hall for coming up with the idea of inviting all of this great talent to his house to jam and filming it for a show! Joe Walsh still sounds amazing, and Daryl and his magnificent band were truly awesome. Thanks for sharing this one. Great reaction!
This is one of my all time favorite songs and seeing Joe Walsh perform it in Daryl's House makes me love it even more. I am learning this sing on guitar and it's fun to watch Joe Walsh play the intro and confirm that I at least have that part down.
