Technically, you're right. You can just skip to Halloween 2018. However, the second has important information to understand why Michael went after Laurie. And H20: 20 years after is a really good movie (also is the only sequel that is worth to watch). Also, Halloween 3 is an amazing movie, but you have to see it as its own.

If you're gonna dig in the Halloween series, keep in mind there are different timelines that usually only have in common the first movie. So, to help keeping with continuity issues: Prime timeline: Halloween 1978, Halloween II (1981). Cult of Thorn timeline: Halloween 1978, Halloween II (1981), Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988), Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995). H20 timeline: Halloween 1978, Halloween II (1981), Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998), Halloween Resurrection (2002). Current timeline: Halloween 1978, Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills (coming this year), Halloween Ends (coming soon, for 2022). Then we have Halloween III: Season of the Witch, which is its own thing and has no relation to Michael Myers at all. And finally, the remake by Rob Zombie in 2007 and its sequel in 2009.

This is definitely a classic, i saw it when it first came out. But it's also so low-budget, Jamie Lee used her own clothes, it was Spring or Summer, so they spray painted leaves red and gold and put them around to look like Fall. They then had to collect them and move them for different scenes. So many low budget tricks that really worked, you should see if you can find the making of this, you'll learn so much. Still an all time fave with me. Glad you enjoyed it.

The movie that had Lindsay so engrossed that she couldn't hear the babysitter was "The Thing from Another World", which is the film that John Carpenter remade as "The Thing" in 1982. Also, the kid named Tommy returns later on in the franchise as an adult played by Paul Rudd.

Good reactions guys, BTW, when you get to "Halloween 2" PLEASE make sure to watch the TV Cut, it's the version that the director wanted to show back in theaters but John Carpenter said no, so they changed and deleted some of the scenes, it also focuses Laurie Strode more than the theatrical cut, and this is a version that's underrated which needs more attention and reactions from reactors like you, also it can be found easily and freely on RU-vid.

Please don't dismiss the original sequels as non-canon. They are. The Halloween series has that annoying habit of splintering into multiple timelines which ends up being really confusing and convoluted. With the exception of part 3, parts 1-6 tell a pretty linear story. Whenever Jamie Lee Curtis decides to revisit the series, they seem to decide to auto-correct. Halloween isn't as bad at this as Texas Chainsaw, but pretty close. Long story short (too late), Halloween II, IV, V and even VI are worth looking at and kept the original storyline going, especially Halloween II. I like the current remake but it does kind of irk me that they pretend those movies didn't happen.

Halloween 2018 is a direct sequal to Halloween 2018 ... Michael originally was not supposed to be Laurie's Brother ( he was just some psycho who set his sights on Laurie after she dropped a key off at his house).... It wasn't until Halloween 2 when he became her brother. John Carpenter never intended to do any sequels but because of studio presser and the success of other movies that came after he gave in.....

Cause he had the cat outside of where they're babysitting then Loomis sees it down street from Myers house. So was he right there the whole time? Did Michael move car? Why? Lol. When the film wrapped up, they used he cast as a negative for "Captain Kirk" star trek masks. In 1977, Producer tommy lee wallace wanted a mask on the cheap so he went to a hollywood Costume shop and bought three masks, one a childs clown mask (in he beginning of the movie) a Sad clown Emmett Kelly mask (abandoned) and a kirk mask prop master, cut the sideburns/eyebrows off, fwipped the hair, cut out the eyes and spray painted it Krylon "Applianace White"

I was a kid in the 80’s and they would play this on cable every October all month long. The first time I saw it was at night in the family room in the basement of our house, when I was like 8 or 9. Scared the living SHIT out of me. It remains the consummate horror movie in my mind. The filmmaking, the personification of Jason with the camera angles and breathing, the score - it’s all perfect. I think people expect it to be something closer to the 80’s slasher movies that basically ripped this movie off, so they expect the cheap jump scares and the almost supernatural villain. Halloween is more of a simple but perfectly made thriller about the banality of evil. It springs up randomly in the most innocent and safest of places and just quietly grows into this monster. The quiet suburban setting where people don’t lock their doors, makes it even more chilling. So good. It’s no wonder it fueled the horror genre for years afterwards.

I remember watching some making of special features on the dvd and it's really impressive what they were able to do purely with lighting because the budget was so tight. The main house they shot in was I believe an abandoned house that wasn't in good shape, some of the walls the plaster was cracking/failing apart so they actually had to strategically plan shots with certain lighting or lack there of to hide things like that.

$325,000 budget, 25 grand went to donald pleasance, and out of that 300,000, half went to cameras and lenses. This is one of the greatest movies ever. Carpenter wrote myers to be the actual boogeyman, that you can't kill or get rid of. He said Myers is a human, but he has a supernatural edge. The end of the movie implies he can be anywhere, everywhere, or no where, with all the locations of the film with his breathing getting heavier. It basically shows the bad guy winning, as carpenter had no interest in making any sequels, but the studio forced him to make a part 2. The part where loomis gives the speech about how he tried to help Myers to the sheriff in the myers house is partly true. Carpenter got the idea for Myers from a visit to a kentucky mental institute that he took on a college class trip. He said he met a 12-13 year old boy with as he said the blackest, darkest eyes, and there was nothing there. He said the kid gave him goose bumps and scared the shit out of him. Also the horror cliche of drug users, and people who have sex getting killed was unintentional according to carpenter and debra hill. Laurie smokes weed and lives.

There is a very good reason this film is so highly regarded and a total classic it is soo well made the tension and totally creepy atmosphere it has are so brilliant and the fact it is so bloodless which is much more scary than having tons of blood n guts , the simple but brilliant theme was composed by Carpenter himself to save money as they were on such a tightbudget and Micheals iconic mask was a Captain Kirk mask painted white sometimes having a very small budget makes film makers become more creative and the result is so good and effective . You guys should probably watch Halloween 2 which is the movie that came out directly after this one and takes place directly after this first one ends

There were not unofficial sequels, they were official sequels because the main character was Michael Myers. John Carpenter didn't like Halloween II even though he wrote it. They decided to go back and remove them from canon and make 2018 the official sequel. So all those old sequels were official for 30 + years. This was not the first movie to use the piano that way. The first one I know came out about five years prior with The Exorcist. And the first big movie that set the foundation for slashers was Psycho then The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

If we all took a shot, every time they said the word "iconic", we would be wasted before the movie even started. LOL!

Halloween (1978) is my favorite horror film of all time. I'm so glad a younger generation like you two can see and appreciate all the suspense and atmosphere. John Carpenter is my favorite director, his movies all have such heavy atmosphere that it's suffocating. I love horror but can't stand the trend its went into the past decade or two, with them having little suspense and atmosphere and full of cheap jump scares. Halloween takes its time and makes you feel uneasy with its suspense. I would also recommend The Fog, Prince of Darkness and The Thing. All of which are Carpenter masterpieces. Thank you for the great video!

If you guys are going to watch the other films for storyline, I'm sure you have found out that most of the films aren't canon and go of on their own branches away from the original tree. If you're wanting to watch the original storyline; Halloween, Halloween II, and Halloween H20 is the trilogy you'll be looking for that completely wraps up the storyline. Season of the Witch is it's own film and Halloween 4, 5, and 6 are the "Thorn" series. Halloween Resurrection is almost a pointless watch and it starts a new story that was left wide open and never continued. Would love to see you guys watch the original series before trailing off so everything is fresh and less confusing. Thanks for the video!

I don't know where you get your Info, but 2018 isn't the only official sequel. Halloween 2 is the official sequel. Halloween 3, they tried to go with an anthology idea and doesn't have the same antagonist. There are also remakes of Halloween and Halloween 2 by Rob Zombie. Once you get past Halloween 1 and 2 (and 3) then there is some debate over the Myers lore. Suffice to say I would watch 2 before any others. I would actually recommend the remake of Elm Street (after watching a couple more original sequels so that you can fully get a feel for the original Englund Kreuger.) as well as they took a different path with Freddy that I find compelling. On a final side note, Halloween 3 is actually a fun watch as the Idea is original and the story is acceptable IMHO.

I don't understand how american houses don't have walls around the house like anyone can enter in your house

Yeah it’s sorta weird. We just have fences that don’t really do anything

Where do you live that there are walls around every house? I mean, we do lock the doors, you know. If someone can get through those, they can probably get through a gate, too.

I think it depends. Some yards don't have fences at all, like the upper class neighborhoods on the East Coast. All the yards are just kinda connected. Look at a Charlie Brown cartoon sometime. There aren't many fences in their neighborhood, which reflects a common thing. I grew up in a semi rural suburb and we had fences to block off access to the back yard. But, many of the front yards didn't have fences, so the open space design allowed you to walk across different yards to visit someone. haha

I grew up during that time, and we left our doors unlocked all the time. Went to the store and left the keys in the ignition of the car while you went inside, with the windows rolled down. You didn't worry about it because the people had better values. You cared about each other. There were more small towns back then and everybody knew each other. It was a different time. Things have changed, but there are still places like that around.

@@randall-king I felt time sick reading this. It's kinda like being home sick, but it's a longing for an era (the 70s or 1985) or time frame (teen years or childhood) rather than just the place you lived
