I head out on a local hike over a stunning Moorland to reach a beautiful coppice woodland where I would wild camp for the evening.
Setting off quite late in the afternoon the daylight soon changed to dusk as we eventually got to camp. Scrambling up and a long these Moorland paths isn't an easy feet with a decent weight on you back. After the packs came off we started work preparing camp.
having only taken one tent (OEX Jackal 3) and a tarp we came up with a configuration that suited our needs for the evening. As it had started to rain slightly getting under shelter was most welcome.
Soon after setting up the mist rolled in and pretty much stayed with us for the remainder of the night. At points you couldn't see much in front of you, it turned the Moorland into a very eerie place.
After collecting alot of small sticks and broken off branches I began to get the Kelly Kettle on the go for a well earned brew. Using the flint and steel along side char cloth I managed to get the fire gojng through a bundle of dead ferns. After coffee I swapped out the Kettle for the cookware that came with it.
The evening went great, lovely food, top company and even a horror film when we retired to the tent, what a laugh!
The morning was grey and cold but not too bad at all. cranking back up the fire we cooked what was meant to be the rest of our food for the evening which we were too full to have. you can't beat a burger first think in the morning haha.
