Great video, thanks for sharing. I just started kayak fishing a few weeks ago and have been contemplating trying Boonesboro out myself. I've been out on Jacobson Parks lake a few times and surprisingly caught several nice Bass and a few Crappie. May have to give this spot a try after work Friday morning. Definitely going to sub to your channel.
Good to see someone fishing the KY river! I get a lot of channel cats further downstream. Check the consumption guidelines, I believe < 1 meal/month is recommended from this river. Your wolf creek dam videos got me down there this past winter & I had some of the best fishing of my life.
I am glad it seems people are enjoying this particular video! Especially fishing such an -it seems- underrated fishery. I'm definitely heeding guidelines now that I'm finding out how dirty it is. The good thing is that I don't harvest fish hardly at all, so that's going for me. I'm very happy to hear the WCD vids were helpful to you in some way. I've got another one coming soon, as well as another boonesborough video. I want to explore the locks up and down the ky!
@lincolnjohnson5129 it would be nuts! I was just kidding with my buddy haha. But I wouldn't be surprised. Super rocky bottom in that spot. Lmk if you ever wanna go.
Im from the area. Most people i know don't eat anything out of there because of the pollution. There's a coal power plant just up the road that paid one of the biggest fines ever for polluting. There are coal ash ponds basically right next to the river. Plus all the dumping that goes on. It's really unfortunate. Seeing you catch a bunch of fish down there has me wanting to go now lol thanks for the video.
I really hate to hear about all the dumping and pollution, but definitely appreciate the heads up. I'll give that some thought for sure next time. I really appreciate you tuning in. If you'd like to subscribe, I have more boonesborough dam content coming after several ohio river vids and a wolf creek dam vid. Stay tuned buddy 🙏
I was using a 1/10th oz hook zman makes. Reel is shimano Stella 1000 and rod is 6'4" st Croix Legend xtreme panfish on 5lb braid with 10lb flouro leader.
Thank you 😊 I believe it was....may? Early may. Right before I found out my foot was broke so it has to be early may. Used to work in Frankfort. What part?
I haven’t fished for catfish in the river any in the past several years , but I have been hearing of some good ones being caught lately on cut bait and live bluegill in the area where elkhorn creek runs into the river , some on rod an reel and others on trot lines.
Extermely stupid they have everything closed down tight on Mondays and Tuesdays. and only open like 9 to 5. What can I say after watching this and noticing the shoreline/beach didnt look to snakey I HAD to go looking for carp......
I wasn't aware they did that. I knew about the closing at dark thing but that's all I knew. You are correct about carp. Numerous and big next to wall in the slack water!
The ramp is open until 10 7 days a week during the summer. The eventually bump it down to 9 then down to 6 in the winter. Not sure what times they open though
