Because it's done by Sam Hyde this is probably going to fly under the radar of most people and in a few years some Ludwig or Jerma type is going to do their own version and claim it was their idea. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see how anything Sam does will be allowed to truly go mainstream.

Jerma actually already did something kinda similar. But it was for himself and chat had two choices usually to choose from. But it was an interactive stream called Dollhouse

You should do a main channel vid on this, maybe go through the history of gameshows like big brother, survivor, etc, and tie it into why a show like this exists and where the genre could go. Curious on the connection with social and para-social psychology.
That would be a much better model. So that way you can throw in a couple of bucks just to get something going. I wouldn't mind getting the season pass and dropping the 300 SamCoins that come with it to get something closer to being done.

I agree this show is amazing. Also proves that edgy content is still amazing and nomatter how hard they try and wipe it from youtube, or tell people they are immature for liking edgy content that it won't go anywhere. It is a staple of humanity and you don't grow out of it. It's only driven edgy content off site and underground and we're seeing it culminate here. Pure untapped fun and edgy content just like how pre 2016/2015 youtube used to be. Never thought I'd see anything like this again. God speed sam/his crew. Also love Jet man, guy is an overall great person.
Goes back to very early RU-vid in the late 00s. He used to get YTP people to make music for his videos. Like Orangy, Vaervaf and Kurkop (aka Graham Kartna).
I hate reality shows generally, but this show is absolute perfection. I can't stop watching. The interactivity with the audience is absolute genius. I actually am becoming attached to the contestants in a way I never did with other shows...I am REALLY impressed with it so far and I hope Jet and Sam are successful enough with this to do it again for another season.
It’s honestly so much more engrossing than any reality show I’ve ever seen. There’s something very human about it completely unscripted and unique. Having watched the show for days I even feel a bit of attachment to the contestants. I guess it helps that unlike a normal reality show the contestants are just sorta normal internet dwellers, people who’d never be considered TV worthy otherwise. I think that’s the sign of a really gripping show. Won’t be for everyone but I really enjoy it, I just hope they get the site back up.

I absolutely agree with you. The moment I opened the perfectly crafted and designed UI on the site, I thought the same thing and was sure this will change internet history forever. And even tho it's such a big deal and has to be an enormous achievement to realize this project and keep it going, it still seems like it's just a small side quest for Sam while he's shooting World Peace 2 and does his regular streams... Which is insane.
Honestly, I would love to see more tools at our disposal. Like why is there not an option to pay money to have a group of midgets stampede through the house? Or why is there not an option for us to pay money to have someone fake burdenarize the house? Why is there not an option for us to pay money, to have Sam wear a fucking scary mask and wake one of these dudes up in their sleep and scare the shit out of him? Why isn’t there an option for us to pay money to have one of these dudes get their fingers dipped in warm water while they sleep, so they pissed the bed? Why isn’t there an option for us to play random noises in music through a stereo system in the house? Why isn’t there an option for us to pay money to set off a smoke alarm, and have it ringing for hours for the whole night?

Public response seems to be really split. A lot of people really, really love it. A lot of others are calling it nontent. Kinda similar to any big trend, but this one has baggage. I'm loving it so far and it's content dry, can't wait to see what comes next and hope they fix my fucking season pass.
They need to find a way to make the fishtoys more a donation pool as opposed to trusting some random dude in the chat to believe he'll actually use the tokens after you give them to him.

It will probably never get the mainstream stamp of approval because its Sam Hyde's reality show. That said I've never seen a reality show where the audience has this level of participation so perhaps it will blow up on its own merit. Guess we shall just have to wait and see.

Thus far I've enjoyed Fish Tank. But I wouldn't bet on it's mainstream success. I was there at the premiere. But I don't know. Multiple problems and kinks have already appeared that need to be ironed out. Technical issues, budgeting issues. All of the fishtoys and even the text to speech is a bit out of reach for the average person to pay for. On a normal livestream you could probably donate a couple of dollars to get a live reaction from your favorite streamer, but in Fishtank you only get a message sent for the high price of 70 to 150 dollars. A day's pay working minimum wage. The idea of compounding the cost over a larger group of people, in the event that it became popular, is an interesting idea. I just don't see it happening. So far all of Sam's new content has existed in a bit of a bubble. If you're not looking for it, you're probably not seeing it. I've been a big fan of Scuffed Realtor staring Nick Rockefort, Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's genuinely some of the most entertaining streaming content I've watched. And yet, I find despite repeated attempts to grow even that stream's popularity, growth in viewership was gradual at most. Emplemon's comparison to Apollo 11 is interesting, because I feel like the stream thus far has been a bit more like Apollo 13. The crew of the show have had to go to great tiresome lengths to keep everything holding together: but if they manage to bring it home, and stick the landing, then by all means it'll be mission accomplished. I just don't see this as a "sure fire" success. There certainly won't be a million views in a week. It's going to struggle, hard. And I think right now it's questionable if it'll even end up being a return on investment.
It is truly worth noting that most of the interactions that can be done by the audience cost $1000 dollars (more or less)... you cant do any sabotage unless you pay nearly a grand
It's kind of bummer but if the price was put at something like a couple of hundred bucks the audience would probably be screwing with the contestants so much it would ruin the tempering of the punishments. We would literally see all the beds gone within a few days and the power out. You need a good balance of building people up and breaking them down to keep these kinds of shows interesting. Plus if you leave too much power to the audience then it doesn't give the producers the chance to throw in their own surprises as well. I won't be throwing any money at the show myself though.

Its crazy because Ice Poseidon did this already, and arguably better imo, and im a huge sam hyde stan. The ammounts of money you can make doing something thos relativly simple is insane tho, so people probably will try to recreate the success.
Fishtank feels scripted, especially when it keeps going offline. That kills any illusion of it being a reality show, it makes it feel like they are use that downtime to prompt the "fish" on what to do each day. Knowing the actors he hired for the iDubbbz meetup and the gaslighting, I don't know how more people don't think this whole show is just actors in character and gaslighting the audience.
You see I keep hearing that from people but I really don't see it. Some people think Jonathan is a plant and present good arguments for it; but I feel like if Sam just got a bunch of paid actors for this it would ruin the chance for them to ever do it again. It would absolutely get leaked following the show's conclusion, and it would ruin the intrigue.

Ice's hosue was full of retard streamers, basically only subhuman forms of interaction, literally made for teenagers, this show actually has humor and the challenges are designed to wear away at the sanity of the contestants, and most importantly they are random people and not ecelebs.
