Great review and a great axe. I love mine. You’re right about the ease of removing it when it’s stuck. Saves so much time.

Thank you! I was a sceptic to this plastic thing at first being a wood lover but trying it really changed my mind. I expect that the coating will wear off with time and that it will stick more. So far so good

I bought the X10 and just tried it today. Was super impressed by it so I ordered the X25 too.

yeah good combo, I use a small axe(x10 size) for the easy cleaving + I have one by the fireplace so I can make kindling out of the dried wood, sitting infront of the fireplace and just wack away on wood. Love it. Probably have 5-6 working axes and 5 loose axeheads lying around

I didn’t try the 25 but I use the Fiskars 36 inches splitting axe and it’s well balanced. Thanks for the video.

Yeah, the whole Fiskars X series is really good. I considered the X27 (36inch) but I don't really need that much power for my footlong firewood. It would be overkill for me. Thanks for dropping in :)

Thanks Mat, was not sure, but after your video I Just put my order for the X 2 1
@MartinWoodStudios
@MartinWoodStudios 2 года назад
yeah the 21 is a bit on the smaller size for me as a splitting axe but should do the job fine on a foot wide foot high logs. Best of luck!

My comments are bias because I have not used any of the other brands of splitting axes. I LOVE my x25 and rarely do I need to used my maul or wedges. At 5'10" the x25 is the right size for me. They do have a video on suggesting the right size to buy to your arm length. When I was able to find a used x27 at a great deal I bought it. The x27 is eight inches longer and a pound heavier. I am more accurate with the x25 over the x27 on normal rounds. I have a martial art background with weapons, and the x27 floats in the air to me. If I was splitting giants 4ft-6ft round I would used the x27! Maybe I can sneak in a neighbor back yard and try it on his 4'-6' rounds. 😁
@MartinWoodStudios
@MartinWoodStudios Год назад
yeah, I'm about the same height as you and the x25 fits perfect.. To me it's also a matter of weight of the axe(energy/stamina needed) and I feel the others >x25 will be overkill for my normal logs.

@@MartinWoodStudios For fun yesterday I pull the x27 (barely used) hoping it would do better than the x25 on some tight grain Maple. I will be pulling out the chain saw today to cut it up. I was only able to split three of eight half moon shape rounds. I feel like getting the AR15 if ammo was not so expensive! 💥🔫

This piece is good. It's split the wood very nice and even and quickly. Is it a heavy axe? I need to invest in a very good sharp at ax it's not too heavy. If you have any advice I would be most gracious to I am in the US but long to live in my paternal of the scandanavia is like Sweden or Norway or even in the US in Alaska where the Aurora Borealis phenomenon lives or the Eskimo in me loves Iceland too. I love the Colder Weather with a nice warm fire and lots of layered clothes. I just have a travel bug sometimes especially after buying my first home and being a gypsy all of my life, am finding it hard to settle. But I must because of my health so I am doing it. Thank you again and I love you a little story about chopping wood. You should make one longer I think most people would find it relaxing. I sure did. It help me to sleep more like ASMR . Have a great weekend. Blessed be Brother 🙏⭐🏡

This axe is not heavy for a splitting axe and I think it would be a perfect match for you. You have two heavier fiskars axes (I think it's only two), but if you don't make the logs to long you shouldn't have a problem with splitting. In Norway we usually do 30cm logs for our modern fireplaces. If you go for 30cm logs and the x25 your'e ready to go. The axe will last you a long time and build your strength every spring. I've been thinking alot about ASMR videos and are thinking about making another channel just for that. Outdoor Adventures, campbuilding and natural sounds. Now I gotta go carry wood from the forest for next years winter... the cycle never stops until I do. Take care 🙏❤

Better than the Fiskars X 25 is the X 27, and what the X27 can't do, the Fiskars ISO Core building ax can easily do, and if the ISO Core can't, then the ISO Core with the Fiskars wedge does everything :)))
@MartinWoodStudios
@MartinWoodStudios Год назад
Yeah, it all depends on the log in the end which axe is the right one for the job.

Lifetime warranty in the U.S. not "25 years". Which is important, as you know we put some people in jail for 395 years with possibility of parole in 150...their axe's warranty should cover any damage when they come out :)

Yeah, best put them in for 400years just in case they solve the aging problem 😀

I recently heard of a prisoner that the judge gave him 400yr for only driving the get away car in Florida. Now I don't know if anyone was killed or not. Unless he had sex with his sisters, mother, grandmother, and dog that was a little excessive in my opinion.

Any reason why you can’t use the back of the axe? Looking for a small axe to also bang in wedges when falling a tree.
@MartinWoodStudios
@MartinWoodStudios 2 года назад
Most axes are not hardened and the poll will go mushroom. I wouldn't mind doing it on wood or plastic, but steel - not a chance. The poll on the X25 is also smaller than most other axes and looks particulary not suited for misuse. If you are looking for an axe with a hardened poll - this is not it.

I see other newly started channels (25 subs) in my area of expertise, getting much bigger numbers doing the same kind of videos/projects. They grow subs and views about 100 times faster. That is starting to get to me. I have 60 videos they have 3-4.. it just doesnt add up.

“Norwegian Wood”. Are you the author of that book or something? What the heck is a clever? Isn’t that for cooking? Love the editing and Rocky like compilation. Those logs are so small I think I can split with a stern stare. I’m just joking man. I split 8+ cord a year. Thanks for the video even though it seemed too salesy.
@MartinWoodStudios

I see the humor here Greg and thanks for dropping in. So my Norwenglish might turn some skeletons over in the grave and it's a CLEAVER :) In Norway we call it a kløyvøks... and that means (directly translated) cleaving axe... makes me think of cleavage you know ;). But you probably call it Splitting Axe? My Norwenglish problem is that I never learned the proper translation for all sorts of tools.. yeah, day to day stuff is allright - but there are so many tools and no class for it... so you gotta bare with me brother. The logs are freshly cut soft spruce(I think you call it... needle tree that just takes over everything else) with knots(branches) and sucks to split at times. But my reason for cutting the logs in one foot sizes is that the Norwegian fireplaces, that are very effective(efficient/modern), don't need a lot of wood and they are quite small. Warms up our house perfectly! And let me adress the salesy bit: Youtubing is partly about "selling" your product, video etc... I try alot of different ideas when making videos and this was a review - so people might check it out if they are going to buy one... I'm not gonna get anything out of it though :) I just liked the axe and have done my splitting with it for next winter, this year too.. Check out my "How to build an Owl House" if you want to see a different side/less salesy video.. Take care Martin
