There are many more, but here is just one video on some of them that I love.
This isn't an all out list. I may make more. Gabriel Knight...Conquest of the Longbow, KQ VI...all great games, and deserve discussion in other videos.
I felt like these five needed talked about right away...many more will come!

I completed all the LucasArts adventure games recently, and having only played a handful of the Sierra games I love this channel for all the insight into them. So thank you SGC.

Leisure Suit Larry is probably my favorite one, mainly because of how much of a dork he is. Plus the deaths crack me up.

Leisure suit larry 5 is my favorite Larry game. Great looking game with great jokes and great music. More people need to play it

Love the Sierra games. It’s a damn shame that they’re no longer around. The stuff that’s coming out now doesn’t compare. KQ, SQ, QFG, LB...all terrific series.

Great video, Sierra was a very important component of my childhood, in particular at 1st QFG series. That is what sparked my lifelong obsession with gaming and made me realize how epic and in depth a games story, characters, environment, and gameplay mechanics could be back in the early 90s on PC but eventually also on consoles in years to come, it was my awakening as a true gamer seeing my friend play QFG for the 1st time in '93, but also fell in love with SQ series and many other Sierra games after that 1st introduction at 5 yo, much love to all Sierra fans and the great Sierra fan community

I loved these games but some had huge issues that drove me nuts. 1) space quest 1 - the slot machine . you had to save and restore to win 2) kings quest 4 - the island after the whale. to get the bridle you had to be in the perfect area and type “look around” to get it. Even when I got a hint I couldn’t get it 3) leisure suit Larry 1 - the questions at the start. No one could answer them. And not so much a game flaw but 4) all Sierra stairs

I'm so glad Colonel's Bequest is on this list. I mean nowadays I'm all about games like Warzone and Sekiro.. But, damn... Colonel's Bequest is a masterpiece. Oh I also absolutely loved Police Quest 2. I used to somehow get myself soft-locked into not being able to finish it when i first played it. I returned years later to complete it and found I literally only missed one thing 🙂

CB is my all time fave… I wish the time system was a little better… like it’s hard to find all clues without clock going off… but the at o sphere and charm and spookiness was 10/10… although I played it back in early 90’s where you had to change disk seven times every time one changed screen… also you should check out ‘Crimson Diamond’ it is very, very similar game being made

LOL @ Colonel's Bequest scareing you as a kid! Space Quest was the first game I ever played, I think it was in 1988, I was too young to read well & type but I "played" the game with my mom, I remember being scared when the alarm goes off at the beginning of the game. Great video!

Gabriel Knight, which I picked up only recently, is great and in the top 5 for me. 1 or 2, it's a toss up. Gabriel Knight 1 had GREAT voice acting. QFG4 is def my #1 though.

Hell yeah - Quest for G 4 as the top! Definitely up their on my list too, something about the combo of story atmosphere and character, felt like a darker version of the original.

I've always loved KQ4. Maybe that's because it was the first one that I played, but I do like the setting and seeing how they were sorting out how to use the MT-32 :)

I have to say: I played Colonel's Bequest for the first time in 2015 (I was 31 years old) and, alone in my dpt, I got really really scared. I will never forget that feel.

Great list! So happy Police Quest 2 gets a mention too :) Like you I'm a fan of the creepy dark mysterious atmospheres that 3 of the games on your list consists of :) Quest for Glory IV was brilliant. Did you play the Coles' HeroU? I like it overall but of course prefer Quest for Glories. p.s. I'll share this on Sierra Gaming World FB group and I'll tag Corey Cole :)

Sierra was always the last choice for me. I played their games when I had nothing else to play, but Gabriel Knight 3 was good. I don't mean good as Sierra game, but absolutely good. It was their last adventure game and their best. There is one poor buzzle where you have to make mustache from cat's fur, but every other puzzle is brilliant. There is the hardest and longest puzzle in history where you have to draw treasure map using the old poem as your guide. It takes couple of days in real time, if don't use walkthrough, but you really feel yourself like Sherlock Holmes if you manage to do it.

Also when you mention shadows of darkness as being very buggy, thought that was the original floppy release? Cuz the cd release in '94 that I got didn't have a ton of bugs but a few still
@SaxcatGamingCorner
@SaxcatGamingCorner Год назад
The CD-Rom had bugs as well if you ran it in windows. My version wouldn't let you leave the Inn. You had to climb out the window at night and that didn't work real well. I ended up just using the Dos version.

I agree with LSL2 being the worst out of the bunch with the stairs thing and how slow moving it feels, but it's still a decent game
@MagusMarquillin
@MagusMarquillin 4 года назад
@Christopher Bingham Well, there's "hard", and then there's random, unadvertized dead-end risking to-do-lists. It's kind of a challenge of patience, along with some decent puzzles. But I know what you mean; 5 is not only no challenge, it's also a lot of reading for a plot that's ultimately rather banal - 2 at least has some charm to it and doesn't overplay it.
@kukamukies
@kukamukies 4 года назад
I've never understood LSL3 being considered the weakest of the series. I'd put 5 there, tbh. I thought the third game had the most character development for Larry, and always saw the 5-7 games as the ones he "made" for Sierra in that metafictive ending of 3. Meanwhile KQ4 is the only KQ I've never finished since it terrified me so much as a kid! That shark D: Along with every other baddie. Thankfully I can watch an LP no problem! Shadows of Darkness was the first QfG I ever played and it hooked me even though I was also very scared of it - I had absolutely no issues or bugginess with it, and I was using the original floppy version I got from a bargain bin so I must have been really damn lucky (or my computer was magic). I only started having bugs on Windows XP, but fan patches helped with that. Looking forward to more lists, as I was surprised by the lack of GK1! But there's so many great games it can be hard to narrow them down.

Larry becoming a "Hunk" and then going through the portal to Sierra On-line to write games for Roberta kinda pissed people off.
@kukamukies
@kukamukies 4 года назад
@@SaxcatGamingCorner I didn't see what happened to him in 3 as becoming a "hunk" - he just magically lost some weight XD Chief Ken literally gave him a different face and his hair back in 2! Even Patti refers to him as a nerd when they're in her penthouse. I liked that ending, for all its silliness. But then I guess that's a rare opinion when it comes to Larry games.

@Christopher Bingham When I played KQ4 I was 10 years old. Getting constantly eaten by a shark (which had extremely high RNG rates; even from the pier I often got eaten just getting to the island), or attacked by the troll in the cave (similar RNG problems), the scary music, being chased by giants... I think you'll find many people who played it as a kid found it terrifying. The first LP I ever watched of it by ooCloud over ten years ago showed how he was still very stressed playing it due to his childhood experience and him freaking out vindicated me somewhat! Also often the shark moves so fast you're screwed with edge of the screen tricks; they don't work at all on the troll since he follows you unless you're at the entrance. KQ3 was my first adventure game at age 5 and Manannan's appearance music still makes my heart skip a beat in terror that I haven't hidden my forbidden items and he's about to zap me to ash. Maybe you just had nerves of steel, but many of us didn't and that stays with you. Doesn't mean the games are bad, in fact for the time period screwing you over like that was very much expected in Sierra games. Everything combined to create a memorable experience, even if it was a tense or scary one at times.
@kukamukies
@kukamukies 4 года назад
@Christopher Bingham Any time I've tried to play as an adult I try to swim to the island, get eaten constantly, finally get there, get eaten many times trying to get back/find the whale, etc. I just give up in the end as I'm too stressed after dying so many times. Easier to watch an LP if I want to experience the story. At least if someone else is getting eaten I can empathise rather than get frustrated myself.

I guess by today’s standards these would be referred to as indies.. I wonder why most Sierra titles had the word quest in them.. They were nice to have but I probably never figured any of them out completely..

@@SaxcatGamingCorner I suppose they started out small and continuously got bigger! I was playing stuff like The Uninvited, ShadowGate and DeJa Vu II and my friend told me about the Sierra style adventure game that was stylistically a little different.. I do recall reading about Leisure Suit Larry back when I was an Amiga fanboy.. If I had to do it over again I’d have played it much sooner.. Additionally, Kings Quest 4 blew my mind when they had introduced me to it.. Just picked up the remake btw on PS4..

Kings quest 4 could be beaten very easily without a guide imo. But its one of the few really. Sq 5 is challenging but fair too

If someone was just going to play just one Quest for Glory, I'd tell them to play part 1 (original EGA) so that they'd inevitably fall in love with it and play the rest in order! XD I mean, unless I was *sure* they couldn't get on board with the more basic story (it tells it's story more with atmosphere) or the typing/reading that I think makes it great. I think it can be equally nerve racking with 4, and it's wonderful just discovering things in the valley. Ultimately, they're so much stronger together, even though they each work on their own - you play 4 after the others and you really feel your support structure being striped away as you're banished alone to a terrifying land...until you find some familiar faces and finally meet the mythic "gardener". Besides, if they like 4 and go straight on into 5, then they'd have to suffer all the references to old friends and events sailing right over their head, as if their at a class reunion but have alzheimer! Sequencal is always better in my book, though I know with Sierra there are some weak links that could throw off a modern gamer, but I don't think anything is weak enough be worth breaking up Quest for Glory or Gabriel Knight as a series. They may not all be everyone's cup of tea, but let them make the attempt properly.

LSL 3 was the best of the pack. 5 & 6 were enjoyable, mostly, but not very funny. The post-Lowe games were/are shit.
