Some of you might have wondered about the rattling and clunking noise while going over a rough or patched road even though all the suspension parts are in good condition. Brake caliper is one thing that most people neglect in such conditions. Brake caliper has a slider pin that slides inside the the brake bracket and its provided plenty grease for lubrication. The grease can wear out or dry out causing the parts to wear and thus excess play. This play between the bracket and slider pin can cause a clunking or rattling noise when going over rough patchy roads.

OMG, I can't believe that so many people think that this is a good solution! First of all, the only thing that should be on these caliper slide pins Is brake grease. Whichever component/s that's responsible for the noise which might be a bad rotor, bald tires, loose caliper bolts, Xtra thin brake pads dancing around in the caliper; just fix the faulty component of replace when fixing is not an option. This is total madness particularly when dealing with one of the most critical systems on your automobile.
@tomskimcdouglegaming806
@tomskimcdouglegaming806 5 месяцев назад
You list a number of components that clearly aren't the problem. The problem is the pin bores. I agree it's not the correct fix but you don't know what you're talking about.

Having same problem but now after reading your comment I think it could be an extra thin brake pad causing my rattling.. Thank you for insight .. I had a seized caliper a few months ago which got replaced but never addressed my brake pads.. so its possible the wheel that had a stuck caliper wore down the brake pads and therefore dancing around causing the noise...
