GearBest.com sent this knife to me after Ganzo stopped communicating with me - for some unknown reason. They were going to send me their new ax-hachet and one of the G8012 knives but it never came about. So here you have a good look at these fixed blade knives.
If you want to support me you can find Ganzo on Facebook and send them a message asking why Canadian Cutting Edge is no longer a reviewer for them - I am curious what they will tell you.
If you want to buy one from GearBest please use my links, and so support CCE at no extra cost to you.

I think you have been very honest about your reviews of Ganzo knives. Thanks Jake, keep it up.

When I first saw the knife on your intro page I said "Wow that's an awesome knife, looks perfect for me !" Then I watch the video carefully and every comment you make is always so very right and I'm thinking "Thank God Jake is there to steer me correctly !" I tend to fall very fast for looks without analyzing every details like you do and I'm often disappointed... So people, listen to Jake, he knows what he's talking about !!!

Thanks for the great endorsement Luc. Knives are like women in a lot of ways, eh?! Don't just go after the next pretty one you see - take the time to check out the details carefully or you might get burned.

I reviewed the g8012 and i like it a lot for the price. The blade could be the strongest blade of all chinese bushcraft fixed knife now. Ganzo would must make a full tang versión with steel back handle and even would be still better. But i really like for the price this knife. Regards!.

I have to strongly disagree with your second sentence - unless I misunderstood your point (maybe we are in agreement?) This G8012 has a fairly weak blade compared to MANY Chinese bushcraft knives - Real Steel's bushcraft series of knives are quite a lot better than this knife, for example, and I could list quite a bit more. 7Cr17 is just not a very good steel for the hard work of bushcrafting. Schrade's knives are Made in China and they are quite a lot better (but maybe you meant Chinese BRANDS), and I could list more. Technically the G8012 is a full tang knife, it is steel all the way through, it just isn't an exposed full tang knife. The price, as you say, is the redeeming factor for this knife. There are not many bushcraft knives that cost as little as this one.

Canadian Cutting Edge It has a very strong blade due to its geometry and thickness. And yes, chinese brands i said. 7cr17mov is not a high end steel but for bushcraft knives is not very good a very hard steel, it can break with hard use, for that lot of bushcraft knives are from soft carbon steel. It is not a full tang, it has a good tang but it does not go until the end, has a second piece called rat tail that it is joined to the tang. The mighty cima 1 has the same steel of this for example. 440C? yes, it can be, or 9cr18mov or 8cr13/14mov, but, for the price is great IMO. Regards!.

I'd rather spend extra on my fixed blade and get what I want. Good job at review. Thanks. Tony

Yes, there are a lot of good fixed blades out there. I have a number of good reviews of better knives on my channel, many of them are a very good price. I have another knife from GearBest that I will be reviewing soon (maybe Tuesday) that I like a LOT, but it is more than 2 times the price too. But I can tell you that it will get a definite recommend all the way: www.gearbest.com/fixed-blades-knives/pp_594365.html?lkid=11315569

I completely agree with you that the knife steel should have been better. Btw have some of you noticed that Gearbest have been flooded with 5cr13mov knives or worse? I feel bad for people buying those knives hoping to get something decent. So much for building the rep of chinese knives.. I hope Ganzo moves on to D2 steel soon in their folders! That would be epic and really solidify their brand further.

Yes, the CTSmart knife brand that they are carrying is pretty much all garbage. I think there is one exception, they have one CTSmart knife with D2 steel so I have ordered that and I hope it comes before the end of September. They have had it for several weeks but whenever I saw the CTSmart brand name I just skipped over it and I didn't notice it was D2 until a viewer pointed it out to me.

im glad i bought my F753M when i did. you have been nothing but fair and honest and objective with your reviews pointing out both pros and cons, so i wonder what made Ganzo flake out like this. they will not get another dime out of me until at least they give you a halfway decent explanation.

I will indeed let you guys know IF they ever reply to me. I will keep trying to make contact every month or two and see what's up. The rep at Ganzo that I worked with for most of the time was GREAT, beyond GREAT, but she either left the company or was promoted or something but I was given a new rep to work with and she did send me one package of 3 knives and then suddenly absolute silence. I mean I don't even care if the explanation is terrible, I just want to hear SOMETHING...

Thank you for review when I saw the picture I thout it is a good car knife for me but I do abuse my car knives every way(cut a lemon and forget it till next use) so high carbon steel is out of question. Can you recomend any good knife? I am not in America😢
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 6 лет назад
For that kind of use I would recommend a few knives. If you want fixed blades at a low price then get a Mora or Hultafors. I find myself loving the little Mora Eldris a LOT!! If you want a nice folding knife that comes very sharp and doesn't cost a lot get the Sanremu 9013 or 9014 They are solid stainless steel and are GREAT for a low price - or the Sanremu 910 pro. STEEL Sanrenmu LAND 9103 - SATIN: www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_620961.html?lkid=11315580 STEEL Sanrenmu LAND 9104 - BLACKWASH: www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_620960.html?lkid=11315582 GREEN G10: www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_606098.html?lkid=11315583 BLACK G10: www.gearbest.com/pocket-knives-and-folding-knives/pp_606097.html?lkid=11315584 I would be happy to answer more request if you give me more specifics as to what you want, such as size of the blade and if you want exposed full tang or maybe the Mora's are what you like.

I have no idea why they would make the change from the earlier version of the G801 to the G8012 - it doesn't make sense to me.

How dare Ganzo dump you I have bought a couple of Ganzo's on your recommendation & I really rate their 440c I would never buy 7CR steel I have had bad experience with 8CR shame on Ganzo they should be improving on quality not going backwards. I wish Ganzo would make more full tang 440C fixed blade knives longer than 90mm with Kydex sheaths. Never mind there are plenty of other budget brands I'm digging Y-Start

Ganzo has a LOT of sales and customers because of me. I have no idea why because they won't respond to me at all, it's like I just suddenly got the cold shoulder without a hint of a reason why. I am digging Y-START too. I am trying to contact them, as of yet I have not been able to contact them.

Hi Jake! The ergonomy, blade geometry and overall design of the knife is rather good. Even this "coconut opener" on the handle, I mean, why not. The sheath is goofy. Knife companies often want to give you a kit. Give me a simple sheath and let me worry about the kit myself please. The real no-go is the steel choice on this one. If only they make it in 1095 this would be a real tool for professionals, forrest service amenities office would buy them in bulk...
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 6 лет назад
I would like a more simple sheath of better quality too. hook and loop to hold a knife handle is just silly, especially on an outdoors or survival type knife - that stuff gets dirty and stops it from working. I would rather all the other features were gone in trade for a decent snap. This same knife in a good carbon steel would make it a definite WINNER indeed - it would turn a good knife into a GREAT choice.

Too bad that this beautiful blade has a shity steel like this . What the fuck ? Is a 12c27 steel plate so expensive to put it on a knife like this ?
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 6 лет назад
Great question. The only answer must be that they want to save 2cents per knife (it's probably more like half a cent).
@justicesword1549

Yes ! I believe the same thing too . although they could charge this half cent to the client and no one would have any problem with that lol Damn Chinese ..
