Fixing a leak in a faucet by replacing the o'ring and cartridge from a Kohler Forte.
If you have the parts listed below everything takes 10 minutes. In my case changing the cartridge was not necessary but since the red plastic was broken I decided to replace it anyways.
-O'ring used GP30420 ( O-Ring Seal Kit for Kitchen Faucets )
-Cartridge used RGP1016515 ( Valve for Single Control Select Kitchen Faucets )
I am not an plumber and this video is for entertainment only. This is not a How-To or DIY (Do It Yourself) video, this is how I did it. Should not be attempted by untrained personnel, water hazard, only you are responsible for your actions, proceed under your own risk.
Thanks for watching and reading

Thank you so very much. I just saved $120 by doing it myself. All I needed to do was replace the o-rings. Bought the kit for $7.48 at Home Depot. I am grateful to contributors, like yourself, who produce "how-to" videos. The Internet and RU-vid are great sources for learning how to do small jobs. Back in the day, there was no easy way to do it yourself, so you had to hire a plumber or handyman. So if you're like me, intimidated by tackling a job like this, just ask yourself, "What's the worse that can happen?" If by chance, you can't fix it, then you're only out a few bucks. But if you do fix it yourself, then you saved a bundle, and you feel a strong sense of accomplishment.

Thank you, this is the exact model I have and the same problem. Kohler maintenance instructions are useless, and I had no clue how to stop the leak. This video is clear and to the point. I got the parts, made the fix, and the leak is gone. Thanks again for the help!

Thanks for the video! Gave more detail than Kohler's. In my 12-year-old faucet, the bonnet was stuck tight and a wrench wouldn't budge it. After some googling, I got a strap wrench from the hardware store and it loosened the bonnet on the third try. The kid at the register said the strap wrench is the best tool ever made, and I need to go back and tell him he's right! I also used it to wiggle the faucet body off the assembly in a later step. Anyway, my old cartridge was cracked, which explained a lot of the water leak, and now my rehabbed faucet should last another 10 years! Thanks, you saved me $200+!

Kohler sent me a replacement faucet when I contacted them via an online chat. They did not ask for a receipt or proof of purchase. However, you need to be the original purchaser of the faucet, so just make sure to tell Kohler that. This video was still helpful for troubleshooting the leak.

DO NOT remove the set screw completely, just loosen enough to lift off the handle. If you remove the set screw you may have problems getting the screw aligned to properly screw all the way in to tighten the handle. Good vid, it helped me replace my valve.

Just got all the parts at home depot today. Just finished doing everything exactly as you did about 10 minutes ago. Took 30 minutes from start to finish after scrubbing all the mineral deposts off all the threads. Thanks a ton. These are nice faucets and didnt feel like spending $200 on a new faucet. This cost me $25.00, for the O-rings and cartridge. Great video...thanks for taking the time to make it.

I was even luckier. I just purchased the O-rings for $5.50 and got the faucet fixed. Although I did have to spend like $35 to fix the shut-off valves that I discovered were broken and leaking when I first tried to turn off the water to the faucet.

Righton. So many slow videos waste my time. It's about time for all RU-vidrs to realize we don't want slow introductions, we don't want to go over the basic preliminaries everytime, and we don't need to be encouraged to subscribe. We just need you to show us what you do, as quick as you can. The captions are nice too. And the channels I'll most likely subscribe to are the ones that help me out, without wasting time. Thank you for a great teaching video done properly.

Listing the replacement part model numbers was extremely helpful for the Valve and the O Ring Kit. Now, it will NOT be an act of congress to actually do the meaningful part of the repair. One suggestion: to remove the handle from the valve stem, I think you don't need to take the set screw all the way out. I merely loosened it so the handle slips off the top of the valve stem. That was an excellent video, thank you.

In case someone is wondering you need a 7/54” hex key. Also if you need to tighten the hex bolt underneath it is 3/8”. I used a hex driver and it worked great. Nice that he shows you how to do it. The bonnet on my assembly is like it's welded on. I'll have to use some more vinegar and try to break the damn thing loose. I already have a replacement bonnet so tried to use a wrench to take it off - to no avail. The easiest thing in the world (just turn it with your hands!) ends up being the pig-in-the-python for this job.

If you bought the Kohler faucet call their 800 number and they will send you all the necessary parts for free, they're part of the "lifetime limited warranty". I bought mine 10 yrs ago, called the number and spoke to a very nice customer service rep. Told her I didn't have the receipt any more but had the installation guide and faucet model number. Received the valve kit and o ring kit two day later, didn't cost me a penny

Free lifetime warranty, no need for the 25 year old receipt. If you call Kohler they will mail you a free o ring and the plastic insert that goes with it. No one has yet to make a video showing the fix on the back of valve stem. Pretty straight foward. The biggest mistake is actually done by the plumbers in a rush to get the hell out by doing a poor clean up job in prepping the new o ring. The vinegar and tootbrush demonstration is an example of how a good DIY far exceeds the profressional grease monkey. Kohler & Moen & Glacier Bay (the Home Depot Store Brand) have same internals. Delta is a different mechanism but also free lifetime warranty. The $15 was spent on this repair since they could not wait the 4 days shipping.

I would check your connections. Check if it leaks all the time or only when you use it. If it leaks only when you use it and connections are good you may have a leak on the sink itself. If it leaks at night when not in use you may have a leak in the inlet connections or the faucet itself

Try a strap wrench. It uses a length ("strap") of rubber that loops around the part, and tensions the rubber strap as you torque it to provide friction all the way around the bonnet. So it's much less likely to mar/dent/scratch the surface. (it's perfect for this application and many others in plumbing and also handy for stubborn lids on jars or caps on bottles.)

BTW did YOU know that you can change the speed that this video plays by clicking on the gear icon in the lower left corner? You can slow it way down, if you want to. Finally, some people simply would rather not speak during videos, instead opting to use a computer voice or opening Notepad on screen and typing out what they want to convey. I HATE those.
