Thanks for the tip on the nail polish for the tip. I had an air leak and the fuel just pumped into the chamer and leaked out, and then I applied a flame to the burner and a BIG FLAME OCCURED. I now have one of those fire blankets to throw over the unit to prevent a series fire damage under a tent. Experience is a quick trainer with these stoves.

You are so right about the memories! Because of the sound, I can smell camping. I'm drinking hot cocoa sitting next to the fire while dad cooks breakfast

Thank you very much for the in-depth look at this stove. I have my brothers stove that he used maybe once or twice then it sat up unused for years. So I watched a few videos about refurbishing one but they never showed the disassembly of the gas valve and the generator tube. You really know what you're doing with these old stoves. When you fired up the burners and I heard them roaring it brought back many memories of me as a kid camping. Then you said the same thing yourself , how cool is that. Keep the videos coming they're great .

Yeah… before we shipped all of our industry overseas. I’d rather pay a couple more dollars for something like this instead of sending the money to China. Only industry in the USA now is onlyfans… 😮

They still make that exact same stove today right here in Kansas, still tough as ever.

As a kid I always thought that stove was cool. Of course when I later purchased one for myself in he 80’s I ended up with the propane canister type. It doesn’t have that cool factor but it still works great. Good Memories...

They are very cool stoves. So far I. The past six months I’ve found two 425E models. Both from 1979 and both found at either Goodwill and Value Village. The first one was brand new with the manual and cardboard pieces holding everything in place inside; I’ve never fired it up. The second one looks to be fired up probably once and still had fuel in it, and it actually still worked with that fuel! So I just use the second one and am keeping the unused condition specimen for backup.

Completely different subject, since leaving the rr, so you still keep up with news? Assuming that you do. As a result of how it happened, have you ever considered being a "scab"?

VERY INFORMATIVE ... I WILL APPARENTLY NEED TO REPLACE THE PACKING IN THE MAIN CONTROL VALVE TO STOP A LEAK SINCE TIGHTENING THE NUT DIDN'T STOP THE LEAK... IT ALSO SEEMS TO LOOSE PRESSURE QUICKLY SO MAYBE THE CHECK VALVE NEEDS HELP.

Although you don't seem to be responding to theses messages. Thanks for the video. I have a 425e also. If any who else is looking at this the pump that holds the leather cup unscrews . Dont be a idiot like myself and try to pull it apart Hopefully its still gonna work.

I have one sitting on my workbench right now and didn’t really have the skills to finish it so I think you just taught me enough to allow me to finish! I thought I had to replace the valve stem packing but I think it might just need some tightening so thanks for the tip. Also I’m not too mechanical so I’m not too familiar with all the tools… Could you explain why you use the channel locks instead of the crescent wrench? I have a pair of channel locks sitting on the bench and I’m not sure when to use them over a wrench. Thanks again for a great video!

Waiting for my check valve tool is killing me. I've got a 425E that I'm rebuilding for my brother-in-law. I'm hoping I can clean up the valve, and it'll work. My personal 425 is giving me some kickback while pumping too. So I could justify the tool purchase price.

Just bought a 425E at auction for $2. Exterior rust in spots and could use a good coat of paint. What paint and color do you recommend? I too, grew up family camping in Colorado in the 70s and smiled when you mentioned pancakes, eggs, bacon cooking on the Coleman. Great video, thanks.

I can't get he tip of my generator tube off. I've tried a bench vise (it still spins) and superzilla to loosen the threads, and a socket wrench, but no matter how much strength I use, the tip will NOT come off. I think the previous owner must have used nail polish on the threads.

Instead of nail polish why not use anti seize? It will seal any air leaks you're concerned about and next time you take it apart will be easier.
