If I could buy you a beer I would. Awesome video. I bought the riffraff fuel bowl re-seal kit and used your video to assemble the whole project. Went in like a charm with no problems. I was working remote in Alaska and next thing I know I started leaking diesel from the back end of my fuel bowl right at the drain valve. Patched it up with the tightening of a screw which fixed the problem but I knew it needed some love. Your videos really helped my through the process exponentially. Clear explanations, with visual perspective made the job a cake walk. Riffraff is always my go to when it comes to my 7.3, and people like you really keep things going with a simple run down of the basics. There are a lot of how to, DIY videos out there but the quality and detailing of your videos really makes the difference. Thank you, and cheers!

A tip for the heating element is to leave it connected and remove the water / heater sensor and pull it out slowly. There’s enough wire to disconnect it outside the bowl. And when putting it back together put the wire through the hole and connect it to the sensor outside the bowl. Then pull the wire in as you install the sensor back.

Thank you. I'll be doing the drain valve only. It's a tight fit. I'm thinking, put the screw in, flush with the inside surface. Dab some gasket sealer on the out side thread. Let it set up. Then when positioning it the screws won't fall out. Once they are threaded I can peel off the gasket sealer for a snug fit. Pulling the bowl off like you did, makes more sense. I'm hoping to cut a corner which usually doesn't go well.

Just completed watching both videos. Kudos for taking the time on your rebuild and who to buy items from. Now if I can get the parts quickly and R&R the fuel bowl I will be good to go. Thank you for the quick reply, very, very much appreciated!!!!

Just for anyone's curiosity, the stem in the middle CAN be gutted with no negative repercussions as long as you don't run your truck without a bowl filter. The guts in that stem only serve to block fuel flow if there is no filter present, and I noticed a bit of a fuel flow gain in my system after removing the plunger, base and rod. Not to take away from your video because I realize this is not a mod video it's a rebuild video but anyone who is interested, that is a mod you can do during a bowl rebuild, or if you just happen to have the time when you change the filter.

Straightforward explanation. I was trying to hurry due to sun setting, and after rewatching your video again, I placed the spring for the fuel inlet valve in the wrong position. So tomorrow hopefully I can remove the filter, the heater and that tower where I put the spring in the wrong position. My spring was kind of bent up, so I slowly and carefully straightened it out as best I could. How it got so bent, I’ll never know. I am starting to go through it weather permitting. My first diesel,so it’s all a learning curve. Keep ya posted on how it turns out😊😊

Another nice video extremely helpful. You need to get a teaching certificate. I just did one of these fuel bowl reseal. I left the check valve out of the center standpipe I think I'll be putting a fuel filter in they don't think I would ever not put a fuel filter in every little bit of flow helps. Thanks for the help keep it up.👍

Compatible oil is the right way to lube fuel o-rings. In aviation, an oil system oil ring gets lubed with oil, Hydraulic with hydraulic fluid but fuel system o-rings get petroleum jelly or an oil typically.

I know you didn’t have to do it but content, content, content! Lol. I have a 6.0L so this didn’t help me but of course, I watched all the way to the end. I’m sure this video will help a lot of 7.3L out there! Definitely sounds like something to do as preventative maintenance as our trucks age. I’m looking at possibly frame to body mounts. Oh fun times! Have you ever thought of giving away your not needed parts as a way as getting more subscribers? I’ve seen other channels do it as milestones. It’s just a thought. As always, I’ve learned something new & possibly will look at my fuel bowl. Although, last year I did the blue spring kit with great success. Thanks again for all you do making your videos and look forward to seeing your next video!

Hi. Good video. Suggestion. Make sure you have your volume up when recording. I have volume up 100%, but you have a soft voice, so it was hard to hear you and I'm watching inside my rig with the engine running. Also, need video on how to access and remove the fuel bowl. Let me know if you have that or suggest a good one. And, I guess you did the fuel bowl delete, so I can use a good video on doing that. After seeing all the work involved to rebuild the fuel bowl, I think I rather do the delete and get rid of the whole dang thing. Good job. Thanks. JR

Is it necessary to put something in place of the yellow stuff that they use? Or just rely on the O-rings
@PocketsIRL
@PocketsIRL 6 месяцев назад
The o rings on the fuel inlets and outlets do you just stuck them in the brass and then put the lines in after and smash them down or do u put them on the flared lines and thread them in?
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 6 месяцев назад
They go on the flared lines and the nut threads over them.

Hey bro I started doing this on my 7.3 fuel bowl yesterday and I stop when I came across the 2 fuel fittings where you used loctite 545,I can't for the life of me find it at the local stores , is there any other sealant I can use ? Thanks
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 3 года назад
I don’t even remember if the directions even call for sealant on those. You could check Riffraffs website. You might have better luck finding an oil or fuel rated Teflon Tape. Just be very careful to not have it overhang the threads. You don’t want any getting into your fuel rails.
@frankvacanti5277
@frankvacanti5277 2 года назад
I would have just removed the whole check valve on the fuel filter I don't think anybody would run or not run a fuel filter. I don't know I've seen a couple different videos on removing that what do you think?

Just replaced my entire bowl and water separator on my 98 E350. But now getting tons of white smoke. Could it just be air in the system ?
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 3 года назад
No, that does not sound like air. Sounds like and injector issue. I'd say either bad O-ring, stuck injector or broken tip.
