so many car youtube channels build cars just to the point of getting the project done enough for clicks and then it's onto the next one. this is almost the olny channel that builds them like any guy would in the real world for him self. thanks for saving this one from the grave.

So true! We try and take cars from the day we find them all the way to driving them! Showing what really goes into saving and fixing this stuff is important to us!

It interesting that Mat uses a plug in the hole rather than just filling it in with weld. Not being a body person, I found this creative. Many of Mat's fixes are really creative--making panels, bridging door gaps, replacing large opening with the use of patterns. and many more. Mat has a fixit mind. He can visualize the repair. It appears that Steve has the better mind for wiring and engine work. Mike is better at managing inventory. This crew seems like a good organization. Mat is also a good manager as he appears to let Steve and Mike do there tasks without a lot of micromanaging.

Okay, most people have no concept of just how extremely difficult that repair really is (well, the old coachbuilders, bodymen, and some hot rodders will know). That particular repair is a shining example of your fabrication skills. Great job.

Excellent repair job on the body , Matt . All of them ! This car was a just a pile of parts & pieces . Now it's a body , on a rolling chassis , with a running engine , working brakes & transmission . A whole car . Thank you for explaining the whole fitment issue on the cowl to driver's side door (top gap) . Apparently , this car was notorious for a lot more than just doors popping open . It's a nice car , & I'm sure you gentlemen will finesse the best back out of this car , that hasn't been a car , for a very long time . Primer what you have put back together , & the windshield chop sounds cool . A rake back would help close that gap . I didn't see the other side very well , but if it's the same , why not ? This car has had one heck of a journey , & I appreciate the privilege of watching it's progress back into the land of the living . This one is "Back in the Saddle" . Have a great weekend , guys !

Every weekend your could see what your buddy did buy looking at the fresh primer. Keep at it guys it's looking great. You can always go back and rework an area. Get her up and running on the road. I love this build because of the pile of "scrap" parts she came from. Just like the Free T. This IS the game. You guys play by the rules.

The Crapiolet keeps getting closer! I remember the video of Mike with all the pieces mocked up with zip ties in his backyard! Car has come a long way! Worked on a '34 coupe with friends for an old timer in the neighborhood. Safety lock pins in place to keep the suicide doors from flying open at speed. My buddy hated riding in it (claustrophobic) and worried if something happened (accident) he wouldn't be able to climb out a window! Go Iron Trap, keep moving forward!

I wonder what the feelings are with getting a car to a drivable condition and then getting it on the road straight away versus finishing the car before driving it. I've watched DD Speed Shop being so eager to get the car driving that it is taken on the road without the battery being secured, which then falls back on the exhaust manifold, which melts through the battery so there is acid everywhere and a potentially dangerous situation. Conversely a friend of mine build a rod back in the 1980's here in the UK. He would not even attempt to start the engine until the car was finished. The big day came with a bit of a party when the car was going to be started and driven for the first time. No prizes for guessing but the car had some kind of ignition module which refused to spark, so no running car but a good BBQ party.

Yes sir, from the start of this project and actually piece mealing the body together you folks have come a long way and it the car is coming along to the point where it can become a reliable driving vehicle. As you have mentioned in your conclusion it is probably time to strip off the paint and get the car to bare metal to uncover the past sins and see what has to be done. When you get it to the point where the door gaps and over alignment is to what came from the factory, you can really begin to see the end results.🥸👍👍👍👍

Not Fair !! Show us how you held the plugs in the holes when you began welding them. Ideally, I always make the plugs and then carefully drill the holes EXACTLY so when I back up and smash the plugs flat (they get a bit deformed by the punch), they stretch a tiny bit and hold themselves in the hole so you can do a tack or two. Wondering if you have another/better way?? Mike needs to have a "beer sanding party" for a few friends and get that body cleaned and ready for a "primer event" !! ;o) After that, some nicely painted steel wheels (reversed on the back/maybe even some "whitewalls ) with trim rings and little caps would make it "noticeable' !! Edit: Watched the rest of the video and see that you agree with the "sanding party" idea. What is that saying about "brilliant minds" thinking alike ???
@IronTrapGarage

I use a piece of painters tape often times of if I can’t get it to stay on its own with a press fit. Tack and then take the tape off and finish tacking
