Fixing the WORST DECK EVER BUILT!
There were literally too many structural issues with this deck to even be able to consolidate in a video. Suffice it to say that the structure was compromised upon the initial construction and beyond that, the wood had begun to rot. One section of deck was unsalvageable so I demolished that part and hauled it to the dump. The other section was poorly built but was able to be saved with some structural reinforcement.

No lag screws? Putting it into the house correctly? I never built I deck before in my life, but when I extended our deck I made sure I looked up the best possible way to do everything on it.

I used to sell redwood in Oregon, mostly decking and siding... I had a decking customer insisting he could use 4x4s as joists - at 48' on center. Sigh...

That is some nasty framing, but from the looks of it, it was there for many years. The wood had started to rot. And it did take a bit to knock down. I would say Earl struck again.

Yeah, good point. It was bolted to the wall really well, but the rest was sketchy at best.

Old video, but dude needs to take care of his ankles. Saw the slow mo of the jumping up and down and just cringed at the angles and pressure applied to his ankles.
