It's reminiscent of a simpler more boring time when people went outside and actually spoke to eachother, teens got into mischief, little kids played with sticks pretending they were swords and guns. Yet there was an underlying dread that the world was turning to shit and there wasn't anything you could do about it, so you might as well stop and smell the roses. In other words, FLCL is 90s as fuck
What a masterful way to start off an anime. One of the best openings of any pop culture I've ever seen. Good voice acting, check Quick, enticing writing, check. Fantastic visuals, check. Amazing background sound music, check. The only thing this scene didn't have, was a flaw. Best opening 2 minuets of an anime ever, wish the rest of the anime was more like this, still enjoyable. "Never knows best" Good stuff.
@@nessst.pierre2396I watched the first episode and Its very very funny and I see a little bit romantic, too I didn t know that this has an original 19 years ago..
I had a great childhood, surrounded by cool teenage friends thanks to my sister and cousins. But at some point when I entered high school the family distanced and I was practically alone during my high school, I was very introverted and shy. I didn't do much in my adolescence and it was only at the age of 22 that I had my first girlfriend. So in my experience what happens in your childhood can be nice or ugly but it will always depend on you what you make of your life later on.
I remember many years ago when I was just a kid I was wandering around RU-vid bored. I found a video similar to this and clicked it out of curiosity. I was awed by this and at the time I wasn't able to find out what this cartoon was. I discovered that it was called anime and I was determined to find it, and so I started by journey into the world of anime. I was so entranced by this world that I had lost sight of my original task and forgot about it. I was just scrolling down on RU-vid and this was on my recommended list and clicked on it. As I watched the video the memories came flooding back to me, I found it.
I never see subtlety like this in anime. This is easily some of the most meaningful writing I've ever seen. "If I don't do this I'll overflow." "What do you mean? What will happen?" "Probably something amazing." I'd sell my soul to be able to write like this.
goodbye jojo well, the anime is about coming of age. If you are between 10 and 20 the anime’s would mean a whole lot to you if you watch it three or four times. I’m not one hundred percent about this scene, but in general Mamimi sees Noata as Taskun so she acts out her sexual desires on him to suppress her urges. I’ve always thought that what she meant by overflow, although it could be more of an emotional thing than sexual. She’s a real dark character when you pay attention to her.
I remember back in 2011 when I (in 3rd grade) woke up at around midnight and found FLCL on Toonami. It was so nice that I had to show this to my brother who was in college, but it turns out he already saw it when it first came out and loved it as well. Heck I didn't even realize some of the music I was jamming with my brother to before came from this anime. It has so much feeling and nostalgia, so let me tell you that I can't wait for the next 2 seasons this year.
I'm 71 female and a much younger male told me about this series, this is very first time I've seen it. So beautifully done. Has anyone watched this in slow motion? Seems like there are a couple of super quick insert shots of stuff I can't make out.
3 years of watching anime and I just discovered this masterpiece just now at the end of 2017..Why the fuck is no one talking about this anime? Underrated much?
So sad to see another underrated masterpiece go under the radar of a ton of anime watchers. Frankly series like this and katanagatari for example would probably be much more popular if they were easier to watch
@@slu77y Yeah, it's definitely popular, but it's much more rare among newer viewers, especially since its only on Hulu as far as I know. Although it recently apparently blew up on tik tok, so that statement is invalidated
I remember reading a fanfic where Mamimi grows up to be a professional photographer while Naota stays in Mabase playing in a band on the side. He’s a total grungy dude, still affected by the events of FLCL. Still stuck in his hometown where he has fallen victim to the cycle of “ordinary” as he says here. Mamimi made it big as a photographer thanks to her iconic picture of Naota holding the guitar 🎸 After years apart, when Mamimi revisits her hometown, both get to reconnect & a whole lot of drama of them figuring out their feelings for each other ensues. It’s written in a manner so close to how the show makes you feel. You could believe that it could have actually been a second or spin-off season of FLCL. Edit: Omg I actually found it! For any that want to know, it’s called “Novicain for the Soul” by user [Logan]
Mamimi uses Naota as an emotional crutch, she was a pity case by his older brother and she has low self esteem from being bullied she gets the quick gratification of Naota's immature, honest and predictable reaction. Her arc is learning to not rely on others and be the support she needs on her own, finding inner strength and not grooming young boys for it lmao
0:52 Cause I'm Shounen Bat from ParanoiaAgent !!! *starts playing "Toubou" in max volume" I still recall this show despite never having watched it... Since Mitsumune composed some tracks, I might wanna changs that. That artstyle and paceing kind gives me the heby jeebis tho.
Stressed out? Depressed? Maybe her honey-pot starts leaking and needs the good-ol' shota-boy cuddle to quell her urges? Dunno. Edit: I forgot I even MADE this comment. Hello again.
she's using takkun as a substitute for his brother, who was her boyfriend who left the country to further his baseball career (i think its been a while since i watched it) essentially she is running away from her emotions/feelings in order to not have to deal with her boyfriend leaving her for who knows how long.
Anyone who hasn't watched it come here haha. Shes looking for ways to helf herself or get rid of the pain. Her bf left the scene for a much bigger one and his little brother is the only one who is left.
If actually think about it mamimi is a very sweet girl. like sure she smokes and stuff but she is very kind and very loveing just in her own crazy cooky lovely nice (looks though dictonary cuse im running out of words) sweet, loveing , wondefull way. so i hope there is a new season with more episodes about her
HatzofBatz a band by the name of the pillows did the entire soundtrack for this series. that’s how you’ll find the song, check them out their music is incredible!
