Lindsay Buckingham is not only a great musician, but his ability to arrange all of the different sounds, textures and feelings of all of his guitar parts into one orgasmic soundscape is second to none. The way that all of their voices mesh is spine tingling. Stevie and Christine have two of the sexiest female voices in rock history and John is one the most underrated bassists ever. This entire album is a work of art compiled by music geniuses…all while fighting with each other as their relationships crumbled. Every song is about expressing their feelings toward one another. It’s their therapy sessions laid down on magnetic tape. Nothing will ever be able to replicate the raw emotions these people felt when creating this album, that’s why it’s so good. I’m sure everyone at some point in their lives has felt the emotions they are showing is here, that’s why it’s popular and that’s why it will live on forever. Enjoy the ride my friend, it’s a crazy one. The music created from 1967-1976 is the greatest decade in music.

I saw these guys in concert a couple of years ago and they started with this song. It was *amazing.* The thing about older music compared to today - which is partly a question of engineering and sound recording - is that some of the older recordings have *restraint.* They know how to build. They know how and when to be quiet. They know how to ramp up the energy and bring in more layers. Modern music is all quantized and normalized and auto-tuned, and every moment of the song is pinned to peak decibel levels. There's nothing *quiet* in modern songs any more. There's no background, no layers, no depth, no soundscape, no change in dynamics.

There is something incredible about Stevie and Lindsey harmonizing together. It has such a unique sound. I will always recognize it. I laughed when you said they came out of nowhere. They've been around since the early 70s. By the time Rumours was coming out, none of the band wanting anything to do with each other. They recorded a good portion of the album, as well as this song, in separate recording studios. In my opinion, The Chain is their love of music and the hard work they did to get them so far. It binds them together through all of their hardships and pain. Every member is credited for writing it. Wait until you see the live 1982 version, where Lindsey and Stevie are glaring daggers while singing, most likely hyped up on coke-

This song is basically a mix of a few songs that Fleetwood Mac were working on at the time. The outro specifically is from a Christine McVie composition called Keep Me There. The song's origin make it the only Fleetwood Mac song to have writing credits from every member of this classic lineup. This song took nearly a whole year to finish.

@caps689
@caps689 Год назад
@@mirandak3273 He sings some of hers and she sings some of his. The verses were written by Lindsey. (The Damn should be a huge clue - that's not a word Stevie would use in lyrics - nor was she so direct and to the point) The chorus was written by Stevie taken out of another song called The Chain (Demo) which is a pleading baby don't leave me song. Stevie complained when Lindsey asked for the chorus lyrics that he was ripping the heart out of her song but he didn't care. (so mean - all he cares about is his vision of the music). Later (after it became anthemic) as is her wont she changed her story saying she magnanimously gave them almost all the lyrics when Lindsey and Christine were stuck because as we all know neither could write a word without her. 😏

This is a huge rabbit hole to fall into with their catalog and Stevie Nicks solo career as well. She has juggled both bands for over 40 years. A legend and my musical idol! Next song do Rhiannon (live on Midnight Special 1976)! Do that one specifically. You will see Stevie lose her mind! You will love it! Much love ❣️✌️ Edit; You have got to watch some of their live videos( even if you don't react to it), but PLEASE react to the Midnight Special one that I mentioned. So good! You must do the live Fleetwood Mac, The Dance, particularly So Afraid and Go your own way. Your nose will explode

Holy crap what a reaction! Great energy! I can't even imagine what you'll do once you start getting to the band Yes, which if you do, the song, "Roundabout" is where to start - it's pure ear candy. For Fleetwwod Mac, you'll love "Gold Dust Woman", another EXCELLENT song of theirs.

As someone who only barely escaped from an abusive marriage with my life, this one hits REAL hard. I loved it, growing up, but... the chain can be broken. I can still hear her saying that I'd never break it. But, here I am, listening to the wind blowing, watching the sunrise.

I've just subscribed after discovering your reactions when Pink Floyd hit you between the eyes. I'm in my 70's, there's hours and hours of great stuff out there fron CREAM, GERRY RAFFERTY, YES, JONI MITCHELL, WEATHER REPORT, QUEEN, ERIC CLAPTON, STEELY DAN, PHIL COLLINS and loads loads more. Good luck, I'm with you all the way.

Yes bro! They are an emotion stirrer! Big Love is one of my favourite tracks. Regarding previous comments, Supertramp is one you can't miss!
