The thing that fascinates me about Florence Welch is how much different her persona is when she gets into the spotlight on stage. Watch her in most interviews, and she comes across as shy with a rather timid or meek speaking voice. But as soon as she is on stage, she captivates everyone. Very physical performances, with an incredibly powerful voice. She also does the vast majority of their songwriting and she is certainly not afraid to bare her own soul in her compositions.

The Glastonbury 2015 concert was phenomenal, I would suggest you guys watch it if you can, even if you don't react to it. Funny you said something about how is she not tripping over herself with all that running, she actually did at one point of the concert and dusted herself and continued without missing a beat.

I firmly believe Florence is this generation's Stevie Nicks (for so many reasons). You're are nailing it on the head in terms of inspiration. She has a song called 'Patricia' off of her 'High As Hope' album that is a direct tribute to Patti Smith. Another great one, guys! (Cassie, where the hell are you? We should be friends, lmfao.)

This was Glastonbury, UKs premier music festival and F+M were due to support the Foo fighters who were headlining the Friday night. Then Dave Grohl broke his leg and they were bumped up to headline at a weeks notice. There was a lot of chat in the music press about whether F+M were up to headlining such a major stage but nothing afterwards but praise as Florence blew everyone away.

Hi! New sub here. I saw her live in Helsinki last summer and her energy is just a crazy mix of a hippie rocker fairy and I am here for it. Been her fan for like 10+ years now. How about another album reaction to the album (How big, how blue, how beautiful) this song is from? Keep up the good work 🥰

She has amazing songs (she changes, but always being the same, same style, same incredible voice): Seven Devils, King, Hunger, Ship to Wreck, Jenny Of Oldstones (live, the song from Game of Thrones, but listen to it from Live version from From Festival), St Jude, No Light, No Light... and sooo many others (Shake It Out -the "poppiest, I guess"-, Dog Days Are Over, Cosmic Love, Queen Of Peace, What The Water Gave Me, Moderation...). They are (she and The Machine) amazing.

@@beclou9832 ok, fair enough. It is probably also significant that Swift I'd firmly within the pop genre and Florence & The Machine isn't.

@@victoriarbis Florence and the Machine has been my favourite band for over 10 years now. Comparatively, I only really started listening to Taylor Swift around the 1989 album onward. I appreciate both musicians for what they are.

Haha, I hear you about Dance Fever, ever since getting it, I've played it weekly on my commute to classes/clinic. Totally love that this band has dimension and I think you nailed that it's art in motion but with a flair for theatricality. I've enjoyed growing up w/ her music and each album is different but still feels true to F+TM which is so hard to do and for 5 albums?! Bloody impressive, that is.

many people percieve her as industry made pop singer like "adelle,lady gaga ETC becasue she sings well but she is far more than that she write her own songs and she made it from indie rock n' roll scene just like oasis and arctic moneys did that's why she feels different from other "pop singers" as you guys mentioned also she's like a modern day jenis joplin she is one of rock n' roll goddess BTW check out her song called ship to wreck it's a literally 21c jenis joplin song LOL

I always think this performance of hers is particularly interesting because she's very consciously using her being out of breath at the very end of the song - it was written to be performed that way, she couldn't have really achieved the sound she wanted there without having run around a bit beforehand. That's some skill there.

Interesting tid-bit, Florence has broken her foot twice now and it's rendered her unable to tour 😢 just goes to show how pivotal that movement is to her performance.

The quality of the voodoo festival concert isn't that great because the original was removed, but it's one hell of a performance from florence and the band

You don't know her well (obviously as a singer and musician) since you say everybody can sing not everybody can sing like her she's a way better singer than you might think she's an exceptional singer and if you watched other performances like the live at The Royal Albert Hall you would understand I'm not exagerating.
@tralala1865
@tralala1865 Год назад
If the Royal Albert performance is going to be an excuse you use to continue to insult her other performances and seemingly purposely misunderstand what Ryan and Nathan are saying about Florence please stop. At no point have they ever implied or said she is just another singer or anything along those lines in terms of talent. And I shouldn’t have to explain this. But there are so many singers and artists in the world, but there aren’t many that are as entertaining to watch and as impressive. That’s what they meant. It was a big compliment. As the person who requests Florence on this channel typically, unless someone else ends up doing it, I won’t be requesting it. That’s because I don’t like the production on it personally and I don’t think it’s worth my money and our time when we have better recorded performances where she has become more comfortable performing and has fought her anxiety and other issues. I find additional pride in her recent performances knowing that she hasn’t had to succumb to her demons in order to do them. That is why, on top of production reasons, you will not see me requesting any live performances prior to February 2014. In terms of album requests in starting with recent songs, they enjoy starting with artists recent work before going to their back catalog. Therefore, either way, even if I did enjoy the Royal Albert performance it would not have been the best choice as it was quite a while ago in terms of her discography.
@littlemouse7066

@@tralala1865 so I was insulting her suggesting one of her greatest performances? really? and you are saying you wouldn't spend your money on one of the things she did and I'm the one insulting her? unbelievable.

@@littlemouse7066 apologies, that’s on me for my phrasing here, more so diminishing her performances with your continued comments such as this one as well as your one on the king performance that suggest that they are not excellent. They are all absolutely exceptional. At no point do Ryan nor Nathan say anything to the contrary yet you imply that the Royal Albert one is the one that says she is. She is absolutely amazing any time she performs. So as I said, and again my apologies on my original phrasing, please stop diminishing her other performances in the name of that one. It isn’t going to be one requested by me and as such there is no point in continually saying they aren’t as good as that one. Because that truly is a bit insulting to those performances that are requested. And I’m sorry if you can’t see that but I’d suggest trying to understand just how talented she is in ever performance that she does. My apologies if I’m just misunderstanding your aggression here since we are online and it’s hard to get tone across.

@@tralala1865 I never said all her performances are less good than that one I said this particular live performance is not one of her best because the song is not one of her best songs in my opinion she wrote so many songs better than Delilah and there are better songs from that same concert. and I said these things because I have a very high opinion of her and I want people to watch the best of the best from her so they can understand how exceptional she is. so I frankly don't understand your acrimony.
