Congrats on the working A/P, Chris. Super essential for those of us with few or no crew. I didn't realize you lacked that capability when you did the long run out to the Dry Tortugas and back. Makes that long day an even more impressive accomplishment.
Thanks Jack! Yes for sure, I was thinking to myself while testing it yesterday wow this would’ve been nice on the Tortugas run haha looking forward to using it crossing over to Bimini
I just got the compact reactor and installed it myself. But I didn’t use the small 1 ltr pump that came with it. I ordered the 2 ltr pump at the same time I ordered the compact. Issue Iam having it seems the compact ECU is not compatible with the 2 ltr pump. Not sure which pump you upgraded to or if you had to also get a non compact ECU. Can you let me know if you are using the compact ECU and which pump? I am hoping that I can send back the 2 ltr and get a compatible one. I am also in the Tampa Bay Area. Cheers.
Thanks for watching! I ended up with same issue and had to replace the autopilot ECU along with the pump itself. The only thing used compatible with both systems was the GHC20 display unit.
@@kactusrcvideos I ended up using the larger reactor 40 pump. The compact reactor was originally installed but was not enough - at planing speeds the pump would error out
@@floridaboatguyI meant, which pump 1.2, 1.5 or 2.0 liters? I am about to call Garmin in a few minutes. Kind of annoyed that they don't disclose this compatibility limitations of the Compact Reactor kit.
@@horizonseekers24 I now have the 2l pump and it has worked perfectly. It has been a very noticeable difference from the compact reactor. It holds in all sea conditions very well and have noticed it also seems to react quicker for whatever reason.
