Fluval Edge Rescape 

I love my Fluval 12 gallon. Plants grow great and very easy to maintain.

I've never used cholla wood protruding from the substrate, but think I REALLY liked it! Love the tee shirt...hope others actually understand it because it's brilliant and funny. Have a great day 🙂

The little catfish is an Akysis, they would absolutely eat dwarf shrimp, and also have a venomous sting. Neat little critters

Sean - I was so excited to see you pick that bag up! Besides Amano soil, this stuff has been the grail for me. I use the FlorinVolcanit Rio Escuro F, in all my tanks now. No ammonia spike. It does drop pH. A very light substrate, and shrimp friendly. Great for cories or other fish with barbells. Best results I had was with a 70% FlorinVolcanit to 30% Flourite mix. So far......👍. Enjoy!

Hi its me again lol , i have this tank set up for about 11 months and i never, i repeat ... NEVER had to scrap it due to algae . As for me this is what worked perfect : 3 nerite snails and 1 juvenile britlenose Pleco. They do the wall cleaning for me :) all the rest of my stock is 1 amano shrimp for keeping hair algae out , about 40 neon tetras and probably 100 cherry shrimp . But well, for saving u from all the scraping is definitely the nerite snails ( mines are , one zebra , one onion and one hornet ) and the small pleco . Hope that helps Regards

I have the Fluval edge 12 as well. Had some algae problems initially and cleaning was a chore, but I got 2 oto's and thats all it needed. No algae anywhere. Heavily planted too and I dont even vacuum anymore. Just change out 3 gallons every 7-10 days.

I can't wait to have room for more tanks. 😊 My dad has shown an interest in shrimp so I might end up convincing him to her one so I can scape it. 😁 I saw looking at your substrate scraper and noticed it was really quite short even for Nano tanks. I've got an extendable one from a company called Saim which I love.

That LFS you went to after PetSmart was nice, wish I had one like that near me. Looks like they had good selection of hardscape materials and fish, and the invitro plants as well.

The gravel looks very good.

I bought the Hydrophylla Taiwan a while back as well, it's a lovely plant but it needs to be planted further apart in my opinion, the leaves get very beautiful and big and it grows in just about any conditions. It's definitely a new favourite of mine :)

When you have a giant plant like that, you can throw down a bunch of newspaper to lay it on, and split it out. I would love some of that Anubis but you probably not near me lol. Fun video. PS: northern Virginia hah.

I don’t mind the ammonia spike from the soil substrates. I let it do it’s thing and by the time the spike is over my tank is cycled and ready for inhabitants.

love your rescaping videos. that new plant isn't one ive seen before either. it will be interesting to see how it does.. brown substrate is definitely different but you made it fit well. i never knew planting substrate caused ammonia spikes. ill have to do some research btw nice hair cut

The tank came out really nice. Love the looks of that substrate and color. Is the substrate like lava rock since it comes from a volcano same as Lava Rock. Thanks for sharing.

Black acrylic paint makes an awesome background without the issues of a plastic sheet background

You know, I've always wondered that about the Edge series of tanks: the small opening must make maintenance tough.

Any luck using plain Magic Eraser in the aquarium as a scraper? It's basically an inert, very, very fine sandpaper and it's been great for me for the last three years since I switched over.

Scraping the tank to clean it up.... I have found an old credit card works the best and especially in a small tank, you can maneuver. try it out....

Then may be in the next 6 mo when you see him again. Well, what is the purpose to keep it then ? God knows I mean Sean only knows ! lol But I also heard of many people here on you tube so much negative opinion on that tank cause of the small surface on top hard to clean hard for gas exchange and can use air operated stones or device of any kind and every 2-3 days need top off and cramped together the filter and the light that is not so bright. Don't get me wrong I don't have these tank all this I just heard of people complains on you tube. But again the product as the Vulcan ash shouldn't be too bad for planted tank. Like look at Hawaii and those bright green and lushes forest it has. I wonder what fish you going to put in it ?

I've had the same issue with red cherry shrimp in this tank. I've put in neon yellow shrimp, red cherry shrimp, red rili shrimp, and amano shrimp and for some reason the Amano are the only ones that survived. all the others died after only about two months. Weekly 25% water changes with drinking water in a heavily planted tank. pH stays steadily in the low 7's. water kept at 76 degrees. I put in an almond leaf every two months and they have loads of cover and shrimp tubes and all. Feed them Fluval shrimp granules which they love. 3 Panda Cory catfish, 8 Cardinal Tetras, and one very docile betta (No, he's not eating them). 10g sponge filter AND the Impeller mod for the stock Fluval filtration system. I wonder what the problem could be.

Your videos on this tank made me get one on eBay. Aaaaaand it was shattered when it got to my house.... they said they will send another one but i don't know if I would risk it. I feel bad for the seller because I know they didn't break it. Dang UPS.

So dwarf sag grows fine for you without CO2? I live in Ktown too, and I need a shorter grass but I've been avoiding it because I'd heard someone with different water had been struggling to grow it low-tech.

+pecktec when you added water to the substrate was it just ordinary sink water? I know here I have to constantly add seachem prime for water changes because the city water has too many chemicals in it. I can imagine those chemicals used at the water utility center they would do some harm on plant life. But I assume your water isn't bad like it is here they use too many chemicals in the water to "purify" it lol.

I bought some 1-2-grow plants and one of them which was some S-Repens only filled about 1/4 of the pot .... I was pissed

Should've watched this before I put some Flourite in my 20 gallon . . . pre-washed it and still a red cloudy, dusty mess. Argh.

Stop buying scrapers at aquarium stores. Go to a hardware store and buy glass scrapers, so much cheaper and come in all different sizes.
