nice video- great scenery. One friendly tip: consider fishing more upstream, less across & down. You'll get better drifts. Several of the drifts where you got swirls / refusals were likely due to drag (very hard to detect small 'microdrag' but the angle of your presentation suggests this might have been the case). I know with the slow water it doesn't seem like it, but all those feet of flyline on the water do exert some force.
Good video , I hadn't fished the Farmington in quite some time so I decided to get back up there this past week , although I didn't catch an abundance of fish I did manage take a nice wild 20" brown trout on a # 16 usual at last light. Thanks for sharing this video.
I don't bother with the fluoro Carbon Tippet, that stuff is way too expensive for what little advantage if any there is. I been using the Rio Powerflex tippet. It's up now to 5.40 a spool a guide size ( 100 meters) is around 14 bucks. I buy that in 4x 5x and 6x since I use a lot of that size. Standard 30m spool for the rest. The big thing is lubricating the knot before you tighten it.
Oh Dan , you should have had that big one there in the end ! That sucks and know how you feel, lost my fair share of good ones in that run ! I usually swing them to my right and get them in the bank area ! Once they get down and in the current it’s over ! Nice job though and sure is nice when you got the river to yourself! Tight lines
You guys are missing the Deerfield river in Massachusetts, there you have a chance at ten pound browns! I saw with my own eye and had them on mouse patterns right before 🌄
Did you start off overconfident, having the River to yourself? Not like you to miss so many consecutive hits. What was the tippet problem? Looked old as I’ve never found one so cheap as to break off so easily. I like the fluorocarbons.
@@DownstreamDownrange Yes! Cortland has a relatively new line of tippet. I think it's called ultra premium. I'd have to go look in my bag but it's great! Also trout hunter is excellent as well.
