@SavageFlies
@SavageFlies 2 года назад
That is an interesting thought! I have seen nymphs with three beads for the body and I'm wondering if they could be kind of rattle-y. Possibly if you used an oversized bead. I'm not sure if they would make enough noise to catch a fish's attention though. Something to think about anyway...

Good morning Sir. Awesome video buddy. This could definitely become my favorite that I’ve seen you tie so far. Just several things in its favor, my opinion only. To start with, my first double hackle that I remember?. The red glass bead is an attention getter. Then to top it off, double Peacock Hurl. Oh yeah, that works. I could stay busy tying this one, several times. Tie it exactly as it is shown. Or change the bead color, change the hackle color, change the size? I’d think you would build yourself a very versatile arsenal for multiple species??? But one thing for sure. It is an incredible fly and video. Thank you buddy. Truly appreciate all you do for us Matt. Also that new hat in the blue/gray is as attractive as this mornings fly, The Apache Lady.
@SavageFlies
@SavageFlies 2 года назад
Wow Jeff, thanks for this great comment! You could definitely tie this up in a few different color combos. There are three other flies that come to mind with two hackles. The Renegade, the Smoky Mountain Fore and Aft, and the Little Yellow Stone. I'm sure there are a few others out there but these are three I've tied before. Have a great weekend my friend!

Do you find just wrapping the peacock here stays durable ?
@SavageFlies

Honestly Hughie, I've never fished this fly. I'd say it's not the most durable pattern, but then again, I usually lose my flies long before a fish's teeth cut through the material. Occasionally I'll have a single fly that will be doing so well that it gets pretty shredded, but mostly I donate them to the trees before that happens. :-)
