Flying Knees: 3 Strategies & Set-Ups for the KO 

I remember when Shane had dreads and I thought he was some hippy when I first came across his channel. But now watching his videos for about over 2 years now, he’s actually a decent dude and has actually helped me a lot in some drills, fight approach and lifestyle/fight tips. What I think is the best about Shane is that he doesn’t waste my time which is very important. He’s super straight to the point and the things that he says are true (not some joke) and you can tell because he’s so dedicated in fighting. Probably you won't read this , but I always loved martial arts and in my country there isn't, so I used to watch your videos and do it in the air shadowboxing all the time and learning strategies and trying to imagine the fight and do it , after a while I found out there is a good Dutch style kickboxing gym and I joined , and at the first day a guy approached me and asked me if I trained before because my technique was good for a first day newbie , I felt happy and all what I was thinking is ( Shane I fucking love you ) , anyways , I find out that my couch actually watches you and The MT guy , pretty cool haha , I stopped due to my weak wrists and I will be back soon trying to suck the pain up ):

What's your take on shuffling rear leg flying knees or straight 'jumping' knees? I like finishing a close boxing skirmish with a jumping kick in my TKD sparring sessions so it feels natural when mixing in hooks and uppers with close range jumping knees on a heavy bag.

Hi Shane, do you have any tips on increasing stamina? I can run long distance and finish an ultramarathon but I don't think I have the stamina to fight. I'm already 38 and have just started muay thai. it has been a dream of mine to learn martial arts when I was young but we didn't have the money then. I don't want to grow old not realizing that dream so I went ahead to take lessons despite my age.

Shane what’s your opinion on Paul Daley’s striking, he’s gotten 30 knockout wins over 60 mma fights in 21 kickboxing fights he’s gotten 14 tkos, he’s mixes up his striking really well and uses a very diverse move set using punches, kicks, knees, and elbows consistently, not to mention the guys rediculous knockout power

All great tips except for using the flying knee as an opening move. It’s too easy to read and avoid on that situation. It needs to be done when the opponent is on the ropes, or dazed, or with feints and setups as you said.

How do i increase the height of my flying knee?

I fake the takedown then go for a uppercut or flying knee, or I front kick with one leg shuffle flying knee with the other. In close range I uppercut to get my apponent to guard his face then fly knee to the body.
