Flywoo Nano Baby 20: The king of the Whoops! 

This is actually a fantastic whoop, it carrys my thumb pro no problem.

Really enjoyed the video as always chris! but yeah, those are CRAZY strong claims, i wonder how aquainted you are with the current standard in both HD and SD, namely custom 702 builds. Really hard to see someone call flywoo the king of whoops! the prop guards look very fragile, and i'd probably call this a toothpick more than a whoop. I am also obcessed with HD tho, and i know what you mean about going back to old video games! I wish we could meet up and fly together!

50 grams with no battery is very hefty to say the least for an indoor quad. I don't know if I would feel comfortable ripping this around my house as I would think it could knock a lamp over and get myself into some deep poop.. Outside ok. Nice review by the way.

Thanks Chris! I just moved my DJI version from BF 4.2 to BF 4.3.1 and Bluejay. It's now flying so much better!

So back in late February early March of 2022 I bought the dji fpv drone because it looked “cool” originally I went to get the dji mini2, that was going to be my first drone. I went home with my new dji fpv and learned of the world of fpv. I’ve been into rc cars and trucks and could not believe this hobby has alluded me this long. Now I have built 4 5” quads, bought 1 bnf…the Iflight Evoque F5X and have been wanting a toothpick/nano/micro drone but didn’t want to invest into analog or add analog to my dji goggles, witch I have almost done lots of times. I’m happy I waited and this Flywoo baby nano 20 has came out with the naked vista. This thing is not only a blast but making my trick list bigger because I cannot use a simulator and I didn’t want to crash my 5” builds learning new tricks. This nano 20 has given me the ability to become a better freestyle pilot. It does bobble around but that doesn’t even phase me since this thing fits in my palm. After following the tutorial at the end of the video to up date to blue jay and 4.3 along with Chris’s filter/pid tune it does fly noticeably better then out of the box. Once again I must thank you Chris, you always find a way to further my knowledge and help me in this hobby with your videos. I do try to do my part by buying your AOS v2 5” frame, next is going to be a AOS 5.5” build for my GoPro 9/10. Thanks again for being you.

Hey Chris, Thanks for updating the BF4.3 CLI, Just as a quick reminder to others that after they flash BF 4.3 and apply your BF4.3 CLI dump, they should go back their original BF 4.2 settings they saved and reapply all the VTX settings. VTX settings will be different based on the drone they purchased (analog, hdzero, or walksnal). Great video!!

really enjoyed the review video, but have you check the latest moblite 7 1S HD zero, for tiny whoop usually we use 1S for whooping around the house rather than 2S

I agree with Chris. If you own _any_ micro, BF 4.3 and BlueJay are a must.

The DJI Naked Vista version is only 2g heavier than the WalkShart version. Yes, a naked Vista is very durable, and I for one haven't had a single failure with mine. It's actually WalkShart and HDZero that are way less durable than the DJI Vista versions. JB and others have reported issues with how fragile the VTX's are with those two systems, but nothing really with naked Vistas. Sure, some have damaged there's, but it's been a rarity. Besides the firmware flashing Chris recommended, I'd also suggest switching the antenna to a tiny dipole. For a whoop, and on the DJI FPV system, a dipole works really good! I easily fly down my street and around my big house with no distortion to the picture quality at all. That should save a fair amount of weight. I've used 0802 16,000 kv motors on ultralight digital builds like this and they have plenty of power. These 1002 show weighing 2.4g vs. the 0802's at 1.9g each. So, you'll save another .5g x 4 = 2.0 grams with those motors. Those prop guards weigh 1.3g each x 4 = 5.2 grams total, so they add quite a bit of weight to the whoop! Flywoo is all about flight time, and nothing about optimum performance, in my findings, so a 420 mah 2S (21.6g) or a 750mah 2S (35.4g) are both too heavy for me! I recommend what Nick Burns uses - a NanoTech 300mah 2S 45- 90C (and only that one) and have many to change them out when you want to fly longer, but the performance is significantly better with a lighter lipo, especially with whoops! They weigh only 17.6g with an XT30. With the 300mah 2S you'll save another 4 grams over the 420mah 2S and the 300's weigh 0.2 grams less than HALF the 750mah 2S (35.4g)!!! I'd never, ever put a whoop through flying with that heavy of a lipo! It's very hard to control the throttle, just like Chris mentioned in this video, when the lipo is that heavy. I call it the pogo stick scenario! Because the whoop is constantly pogoing up and down with often hitting the floor. No fun to fly at all! GUYS: Whoops are NOT about long flight time - they're about smooth flying and great performance, and only light lipos give you that! 👍 Bottom line: You can build a much, MUCH lighter digital whoop than what Flywoo offers us. To give you an idea - This WalkShart version weighs a whopping 50+ grams with prop guards (see Chris weighing it). The DJI version will be only 2g heavier. But, a RU-vid friend of mine from Europe races with a DJI whoop he built that is only 35g ! He says he competes very well with stock Mobula6's and other analog whoops in races. I've seen his videos racing and he does great! He uses a Mobula7 V2 frame (lightest), HM 0802 16,000kv motors, a Naked Vista with a Polar Nano (but the Nebula Pro Nano is only about 0.7g heavier and it gives us 120fps and full adjustment of settings), and he also uses bi-props. He says he thinks he can get it under 30g, so everyone use your imagination and SCALE to weigh your whoop to an ALL TIME RECORD LOW WEIGHT - then post it on RU-vid so we can all learn from your mastery! You can do it! 😎🤘

I have both analog and dji version, I think because it's running 2s, extra weight dont feel as much burden as typical 1s whoop. I rip my dji ver. with 720mAh batteries in woods where analog image cant provide the detail for me to avoid branches, and never felt weight is holding me back. Also the elrs receiver can be flashed through betaflight with ease is a big plus

nobody mentions this but does all new hd vtxs work with dji goggles or does each new hd vtx system works only with it's brand goggles. can you please answer to this? thanks

My flywoo baby nano 20 is only reading as dfu bootloader mode when i plug it in and it wont connect to betaflight. I only get the first three beeps on a 2s lipo and if i try to flash the flight controller to bf 4.3.1 it will flash but not connect and if i plug it in again i will go back to dfu mode. Do you know what could be going on here?

I have just received mine from Flywoo. Flies good, but I would like to try rpm filtering. Still I am hesitating a bit to flash Bluejay, because of the definitive warning against flashing of ESC in flywoo website. It is also strange that flywoo listed O-H-30 while esc configurator shows Z-H-30 as a target. Is it safe to flash?

It specifically says on flywoo website not to update the esc firmware . I just updating it to bluejay not knowing and now my motors won’t spin help !

Hey Chris, I have half a dozen micro quads that all have F411's and run BF 4.2.x. I want to upgrade to BF 4.3, but am not sure if the F411 will work properly with bidirectional dshot, telemetry, etc. What would you suggest (not including replacing all my FC's)? I have no issues with my existing setups and the quads fly nicely. Yet, I do like to stay current with software updates.

Hey chris, quick question You updated bluejay with 48 PWM I dont fly anything lower than 5" inch but heard that as a rule of thumb, tiniwoops u should do 96 PWM, 3" and 4"inch 48 PWM and anything above 5"inch should be 24 PWM ... am I wrong you you got personal experience where u see better perfomance on 48 PWM?

Really enjoyed the video! Could somebody help me please?! I noticed you updated the firmware from 4.2 to 4.3, so I updated (to 4.4) after having backed up the factory settings. I’ve now lost all of the settings, and and am unable to restore my backup, as it says CLI contains errors, can anybody help?

Great video. Mine doesn't want to read the ESC's in Bluejay. It says ESC read failed for all 4 ESCs. I tried different betaflight versions and even BLHeliSuite it doesn't read the ESC's. The quad works fine though, i just can't get the ESC's to read in order to update them to Bluejay.

Meanwhile, the Baby Nano 20 comes with BF 4.3 and Bluejay 0.18 directly from the factory. I was about to flash when I discovered it. Insane flight times. 8-10 minutes on medium agressive cruising with a GNB 660mah LiHV (fits the 750 battery tray perfectly). 72g for the analog version with 660mah battery.

86g is out of whoop territory.

Bought the DJI version and had it a few days. Find myself not flying it and really in love with moblite6. I fly a bit faster then Chris does here with some flips and rolls and crashes so it shouldn't be a surprise I guess. Wish I hadn't wasted the money and just invested in some better analog gear/batteries and chargers sticking with HD outdoors.

I put 4.3 and bluejay on mine and it’s nice!

In my single opinion these just aren’t much fun inside, mean really this is a park flyer not a whoop by any means, a 20g-ish 65 or 75 mm is a whole other animal that this can’t touch. In the same way they can’t touch a a 2” like this as a park flyer.

Any one that have a bf 4.4 cli dump instead of the 4.3 linked here? Realy like to have the hd osd in 4.4 for this quad. (But suck at migrating settings from different bf versions 😢 )

Excellent video! I was trying to follow along, and while flashing the ESC's the flasher just hung! I waited for a while and nothing happened. I disconnected and reconnected my quad and now it reports that ESC #4 is missing when I read settings! What can I/should I do?
