I love your videos. mainly because I love quilting but, as I have two boys, it is not always easy to find ideas for them.

Your rainbows gone wild motif looks more like a cactus to me! At least on the drill sheet. Loving your videos.

Love it, love it, love it! You have taken complicated designs and broken them down so that they are achievable. I'm actually starting to feel like a machine quilter! And Rainbows Gone Wild - great name!

Hi Rob I am looking to learn more free motion quilting motifs on my juki sewing machine. I like more ideas of all over patterns because I like my quilt to be comfortable and not heavily quilted. I am looking forward to seeing your videos and learn more free motion patterns. Thank you so much for all the videos!

I've been totally diggin' this series. For the longest time, I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, as my threads were breaking all the time. And then you made these videos...and I still break them...lololol...but now I know why...and I can work on not doing that. Each tutorial brings a new skill, which I totally dig. I'm pretty much self taught, and quilt by what we refer to as the pirate code, (Ya know, 'ems more like guidelines...) so I've made lots of mistakes and learned from them(usually)!! Thanks for this awesome series, I aspire to have flames and rainbows gone wild, as awesome as yours someday hehe. =)

Thanks Rob, I am really wanting to know different patterns to free quilt, I am doing my first quilt ever for my son, my son is helping me too because I really want him to develop the quilt skill too. I have just done echoing on the quilt and a few butterfly wings sprouting from corners. I think I will try some vine leaves on the borders, I want to do some Japanese language characters as well.

Awesome tutorial- gonna attempt flame tonight. One thing I can't get right is how to layout my quilt, and which direction to quilt it in. Could you possibly show a quilting from a distance in your next tutorial in orde r to grasp how you move quilt? I always feel like I'm having to tug and lug the fabric.

Rob, I'm am really enjoying your FM tutorials. What kind of pressure foot are you using in this video? It doesn't look like the standard hopping foot. I think I would do much better without all that hopping going on as it seems to really distract me. I have a Janome Magnolia 7330 machine & was wondering if there is a generic "non" hopping foot I could use. Thanks so much for your great tutorials.

Thanks for this great tutorial. I am still struggling with flames. I do better when I talk out loud to myself, which is how I start learning all my FMQ drills. It sure would be embarrassing if anyone was watching.

+Beautiful Quilts I'm usually singing along to my music that's going pretty loud! Luckily you don't get to see that in the tutorials! :) Whatever you need to do to get in your FMQ zone, do it! You'll love your work when you are in the right mindset and focused on it!

Maybe it's me because I live in Arizona but that design looks just like a Prickly Pear Cactus to me. That is the 1st thing that I thought of when I says it. (Though I would help you with the name ) I'll post a pic on your FB as an example. You know you have us really spoiled with your print outs, right? So where is that really cool Flame print out? I love how you did that.

Super HOT designs Rob! Wondering if you've tried the "Halo" weighted rubberized red ring yet? It's a great product to help keep the area flat while quilting. The weight helps keep balanced pressure in the area you're quilting and you only need a couple of fingers on it to move the area of the quilt you're working on. Arthritis sufferers love them and I've seen someone use 2 at a time! I bet I know where you can purchase it! MSQ company, {wink} Thanks for all your hard work! Flame on....🕯🔥♨️

Hi Rob, do you always take a few stitches in place then cut your threads or do you just do that on practice pieces? I was told to make a knot and pull it back into the quilt. Does it make any difference which method you use? I'm just about to start quilting my first ever twin-sized quilt.

About the mat. What kind of mat is it and how can you keep from sewing it to the quilt? I've never fmq but I'm wanting to teach myself. I've ordered a darning foot but my machine doesn't have the option to lower the feed dogs. does this mean I can't fmq on my machine?
@zorina831
@zorina831 7 лет назад
Christina Scoggins lower your stitch length to zero and your feed dogs will not engage

Rob, are you using a stitch regulator on the machine? I'm seeing that blinking red light on the black thing on your machine. And now I'm thinking its a camera ;(

+Kaleigh Mcgeehan it is called a "sew slip mat", it is a silicone sheet you put on the machine with a whole for the needle to pass thru.
