Love your special pieces, especially love the stories attached to them because they are about the people who made them or admired them for the treasures they truly are. Thank you very much Josje.

Many years ago when I first started in the hobby the only contact for many of us was via magazines, long before the internet. Every month I would impatiently wait for my subscriptions to arrive through the post. I remember seeing some creations like these regularly, I drooled over them then and I'm doing it now! The delicacy of the workmanship compared to the cheap mass-produced I could afford was beyond comparison. I was jealous of anyone who could afford them then and I still am today 💚

Just loving you sharing an inside look and stories of a few of your pieces. I just can’t believe the working locks! Also would love to see you build a little box, especially with the sliding lid.

I was thrilled to find out the piece had working locks. Even without them I loved the piece, but it was a wonderful discovery. I'll start making boxes soon. Thank you! 😃

One of the unexpected perks of our engrossing hobby, is how certain treasures will immediately bring to mind not only the Artisan(s) who made them but also the stories of those pieces after we bring them home. Your recountings have been fascinating to listen to Josje, and have made each of your exquisite pieces, even MORE SPECIAL, in the telling, so Thank You for sharing them with us!

Oh my gosh!!! The Etui your friend made literally made my jaw drop!!! Im making an identical one in life size and its NOT EASY. To see someone complete that needlepoint in MINIATURE?! WOW. IM ABSOLUTELY IN AWE. Seeing that literally stopped me in my tracks. I couldnt believe what I was seeing. What an absolute treasure. And to have come from a friend... literally priceless. ❤❤❤❤

Ah, you're so kind! I did not know it was called an etui. How wonderful you're making a full-scale one. I've seen a few of them in museums and always loved them. The miniature one is lovely, isn't it? My friend was a member of a group called Petitpointers. They often stitch projects together, and I think this was one of the projects some of the members did. Someone made all the little cabinets for them I believe and they did the stitching, using their own patterns I believe, so all of them are different. Here's the link to the group, you'll be amazed at what the members make! groups.io/g/Petitpointers

Ha Josje, I have a similar story. The sons were playing soccer in our bedroom and broke a porcelain bowl by Monique Juvenal. The broken bowl is in my French house with a Siamese cat looking very guilty. This is also ironic because one Christmas our Siamese cat Cleo sprung onto the kitchen counter where a collection of Spode platters and servers were waiting to be put away after hand washing. Yes, you know the result of that. Spode broken all over the floor. Luckily for the boys and Cleo I loved them more than material things. Oh, happy times! Janine

Thank you so much for this! You are so charming that it feels like we are just hanging out and you are showing me some of your nicest pieces. I absolutely love the stories that you shared regarding these exquisite miniatures. Absolutely fascinating! I was smiling through the whole video, except when you showed us those Tiny working locks on the doors. Then my jaw dropped open and I looked like a shocked carp😂 I never would even have dreamed that something like that existed in the world. So beautiful and with Tiny working locks. Such extraordinary craftsmanship! I feel so lucky to have found your channel. Every time you post it is a gift! Thank you❤

Oh my!!! I just love the videos in this series!! It was like a magical mystery tour you took us on, with each "sight" more amazing than the last! The Hipborn chest was amazing with that tiny wee perfect marquetry, but when you opened the drawer on the Mark Gooch chest, and it had all those tiny compartments... I was stunned! I almost expected there to be tiny pots of pommade, hair powder, little tie-pins in the compartments! Such a joy to see (and, I expect, to own). Thank you so much for sharing! kindest regards, kat

My pleasure! Yes, I should and will put some little bits and pieces in those compartments, make it come to life! Even though it is a beautiful piece by itself as well. Thank you so much Kat!

Lovely inlaid furniture. I think you can make a beautiful dining table for your new room. You have so many types of wood. It could be lovely. A place to spread out you lovely little gems and of course get new ones.

Cats and dollhouses. Inseparable. I couldn't ever keep my old cat out of my houses. My husband suggested just giving him one. I cleared one out, gave it to him and he never bothered the others. When he crossed the Rainbow bridge, I placed his ashes inside HIS house. He will remain there until I die.

Indeed, such beautiful pieces! The inlay work is amazing. P.S. On our walk yesterday, I picked some hawthorn flowers too........hope they dry nicely.

Oh wonderful! One of my viewers (@swearenginlawanda) mentioned last week that she dehydrates flowers for the dollhouses in her ninja foodie. She said, "They keep their color, but don't need water." I don't have a dehydrator, but maybe you do. Thank you Urbania!

Hello Josje, Thank you for sharing your tiny treasures with us. I am really enjoying seeing your collection of miniatures, the furniture pieces are truly gorgeous, and the working lock wow they are absolutely amazing, they must use microscopes to make working parts that small. Are they all made of hard woods ? Best wishes from Yorkshire, England 🇬🇧 😊

@MakeMiniatures 2 месяца назад
You're welcome Diane! Well, the interesting thing is that I've seen several of these miniaturists work on similar pieces and they either wore regular or no glasses. I need a vizor to work on such small pieces. I think most of it is hardwood. Some of the interiors may be some woods to simulate pine or something similar, like on the full-scale pieces. 😃
