for context behind this song and performance: dave, the singer, was the drummer for nirvana way back when. foo fighters was his project to try and get better from the traumatic experience he went through when nirvanas singer Kurt died. after about 10 years, the foo fighters were the biggest band in the world. this was at about the 15 year mark, and this is from a movie chronicling a concert at wembly stadium in england. this is the last song of the night, and it was to that point the biggest crowd they had faced, and as you see in the video dave is just trying to comprehend how far he’s come. also worth noting his voice only sounds like that cuz it was a three hour concert
And they put the roughest song on his voice last. Great for a finish foor the audience. But poor Dave's cords. Could hear them reading him the riot act the whole time.

one of the lead singers dreams was to play Wembley stadium which is where this concert is. its iconic for big rock bands all the greats have played there that's why he was so emotional to finally play there with the foo fighters

Foo Fighters are just immense live. Dave broke his leg a few years ago by falling off the stage, he continued the tour by making himself a game of thrones style chair with guitars. They put everything into their live performances. RIP Taylor Hawkins
Not only that, he continued the show when he broke his leg and had the doctors come onstage and set it in a cast while he kept going. Yes, it is the same throne.
They missed a few shows after the accident. I took my family to the UK for vacation that year and was supposed see them at Wembley Stadium in London about a week after the accident but it got canceled. Thankfully I got my money back, and I still have the unused tickets.
Niiice, a band doing it like the oldies, because these guys befriended and learned from multiple old groups, Taylor and May from queen, and the great group Rush, hawkins and grohl, like many others were HUGE fan of drummer neil peart, they learned and showed respect for the greats. and it shows in their passion,dedication to the music 🎶

I saw the Foo Fighters in my home town in Australia at the second last show before Taylor's death :( It was the best concert I've ever been to. Taylor even sang Somebody To Love by Queen.
I was at this one, the best gig they ever did. You must react to 'Everlong' and 'All my life' from the same night they will blow your mind. 85,000+ people in Wembley Stadium London, at the time their biggest audience. Dave actually read out the exact number during the gig, they had to leave all those seats empty at the sides for safety reasons for the people standing which was a pity or they could have got a few thousand more in. This is at the end of the show so thats why Taylor is saying, 'we gotta stop baby'. The whole night was filmed and is out there somewhere.
They were at the climax, being on the top of the world of rock music at that moment, they've achieved everything they can then, this concert was sold out in just few hours and keep in mind that capacity od Wembley stadium is around 80k people. And imagine that this crowd singing with you song that you wrote about your feelings and they identify with lyrics, everything is so damn honest here, his emotions overwhelm him, you can tell. This song was written in a result of Dave's involvment in John Kerry campaign. Grohl called "Best of you" in interview: "a song of resistance. It’s about the refusal to be taken advantage of by something that’s bigger than you, or someone you’re in love with. It’s the fight in the face of adversity." And he wanted it to be more universal that just another love song. I guess mission accomplished. And you wonder about bond between him and the drummer. It was super strong, they were like twin brothers. You can tell that Taylor looks really concern, when Dave had his emotional break.

The Foo Fighters are, hands down, the best rock band of the past 25 years. I regret not seeing them when Taylor was still with us, but if they tour again, I will make every effort to see them.

They are a band who gets the fans jumping. I was at Western Springs, Auckland, New Zealand when the crowd jumping was recorded on earthquake sensors. I understand that Dave is very proud of this.
You could do a whole channel just covering Foo Fighters live songs, they're that good. Dave's interaction with the audience is incredible. Telling stories, inviting kids to come play on stage with him. One kid played so well Dave just gave him his guitar. The whole band was just a bunch of fun guys having the time of their life and sharing it all with us. RIP Taylor ❤
I wish I had a friend or buddy that appreciated music and live concerts like you do. I go to shows alone all the time - and being in a crowd who feels the same way I do is definitely nice, but I have no one person to share those really exciting moments and songs with.
Watch some of their live stuff where they let people from the crowd come up and play with them, search "Foo Fighters Kiss Guy" or "Foo Fighters Tom Sawyer with Brian", or some of their concerts when they have literally legends come play with them particularly Dave Grohls birthday concerts, or the Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts good stuff.

R.I.P Kurt and Taylor. Dave was actually writing what would become Foo Fighters songs while still in Nirvana, and Kurt liked them. Who knows what could have been? Another Lennon and McCartney.
I saw Dave in an interview once and he said after Kurt died he didn't know for sure what he was going to do and he got a call from Tom Petty who asked him to come and drum for him in his band, but Dave finally decided to start his own band. I didn't know Dave had already written songs which would become Foo Fighter songs. We all dodged a bullet there when he decided not to go drum for Tom. If you haven't ever watched the Documentary about Dave buying the sound board from the Sound City Studio you should. It was where Nirvana went and recorded Nevermind. They were closing up because of Digital recording and Dave still likes the Old School Recording.
Dave was overwhelmed by playing Wembly stadium (70,000 attended), the meaning of the song, his loss of Kurt Cobain, the almost loss of Taylor (the drummer) to an overdose not too long before this recording. And now how special that particular recording is knowing now that Taylor has passed and Dave can no longer have that moment with him.
I saw them live in Manchester, UK in 2005 and they absolutely blew my mind! Great band!!! Also...after surviving a 20 year on again, off again relationship with a Cluster B Personality Disordered woman who damn near destroyed me, this song and those lyrics hit almost as hard as Taylor Hawkins used to hit those drums!

Josh Freese is their new drummer. Dave drummed on their last album and Freese is touring with them. I saw them in 2023, and Josh is a monster on drums. I couldn’t talk after the concert from singing along to everything.
Dave Grohl is The Best of us, awesome on stage and very candid when I've watched interviews with him. Seems the type of guy who would be great to sit down chat and grab a few beers with.

I saw these guys in concert after Dave Grohl broke his leg falling off stage and they literally renamed the tour the Broken Leg Tour, made the merch a signed cast, and had Dave sit on a throne of broken guitars for the whole show it was the most energetic concert I've EVER been too and that man was SITTING. When this song came up EVERYONE sang every single word with their whole body it felt like such an insane connected experience. They also extended the concert and literally said "what are they going to do if we don't leave? Call the cops on the foo fighters?? Fuck that we're staying all night" 😂

I'm so glad I got to see them twice while Taylor was alive! And also when Dave fell off the stage and broke his leg, it was an awesome gig and evening in Sweden!😊 And Taylor got to sing 3 songs while Dave was getting a cast for his broken leg, before coming back to stage!
Dave Grohl is a massive dose of the truth. The whole band is super talented but his energy is intoxicating. Wanna feel like you can do anything, go see the Foo Fighters live. You'll feel different after. We miss ya Taylor..... :(

Great reaction! There are so many Foo Fighters songs you could do, but one song that is ESSENTIAL is Everlong, if you haven't heard it yet. Also, the official music video for Learn To Fly really lets you in on the band's sense of humor, and is a great song as well.

I was at this show sold out Wembley stadium it truly was and incredible show!!! Was close to 100 thousand if I remember right. Felt like more from down on the pitch surrounded.

The UK was one of the first places where the Foo Fighters broke big commercially... even though they had a platinum record (the first album) by 1996, the Foo Fighters were still playing small venues in the US. But in England and the UK, they were already playing big venues and selling them out... This was on the tour for their 2007 album 'Echoes, silence, patience & grace'... I went to see Foo Fighters live when they played Minneapolis/ St. Paul, and it was about 10K people there... But when they came to England in '08, they sold out 2 nights at Wembley stadium (close to 90K per night, over 170K for 2 shows) and it was filmed for the live DVD 'Live at Wembley stadium'. The song 'Best of you' was the 1st single from the Foo Fighters' 2005 double CD 'In your honor'... (it reached #18 in the US singles chart and #4 in the UK) ... It was inspired by Dave Grohl (vocals & guitar) campaigning for Senator John Kerry, who was running for president of the USA in 2004 against Pres. George W. Bush (who was responsible for the disastrous US invasion & occupation of Iraq in 2003, and eventually the economic collapse in 2008 after he was re-elected) ... Even though Kerry lost (the 2004 election), it was an attempt to try & rectify the stupid policies of the republican war-hawks and neo-cons of W. Bush and VP Dick Cheney's gang of idiots who pretty much wrecked America for 8 years.

I never got to see them live when Before the drummer Taylor Hawkins passed over a year ago. Dave has lost 2 friends and bandmates. Kurt Kobain in Nirvana and Taylor. It's been a year since they had their tribute concerts for him. They performed the song My Hero and Taylor's son played the drums during the song. One of the tribute shows was done at Wembly Stadium and was incredible.
