Foo Fighter lyrics are often not completely straightforward, Dave Grohl has simply said about this song that it's about "breaking free from things that confine you". Read into that what you will. FF videos are often really funny too - try "Walk", "Learn to Fly", "Big Me" or "Run". As for Dave putting all his heart and soul into the song - he does it for every song. You should hear this song live in front of 60,000 people who all know every word - The Foos are definitely one of the best ever live bands.

This song gets me so emotional! When this song came out, I was going through so many things at this point in my life. I remember getting in my car and this song was on the radio and I completely broke down. This song seriously pushed me in the right direction to make big changes and rid myself of someone that was just using me. I love hearing it now, reminds me of a time in my life that I’m no longer living!

It's all about interpretation. As they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Overall I would say it's about someone hurting you physically or mentally example: a bully is hurting you physically or mentally. Hence that bully is getting the best of you. He is teaching you to stand up for yourself Lyric "were you born to resist or be abused". He puts it in a questioning format which is nice because it's not implying you got hurt but asking you. As you said relateable song and for many years to come because just like there is good people there is bad people.

This song is about Dave's sister who was in an abusive relationship of some kind, on the skin and bones tour he says that before singing this song, and in an interview he said " 'Best of You' is a song of resistance. I suggest to open up the lyrics and watch it along with the video. I mean you can also watch just the lyric video, but if you want to watch the actual music video, with the imagery, then I suggest what I said in the beginning. This is all only if you cannot understand what the singer is saying. However, we can all comprehend what Dave was saying in this song.

My best advice to any youtube react channel is "don't assume the visuals in a music video mean ANYTHING as it relates to the song". Also, Dave Grohl often writes the music before lyrics and make the lyrics fit the "vocal beat" in his head.
