Food is food. It really doesn't matter whether some of it is "unhealthy". The food is donated and we are lucky to have these food pantries. The times I went to my local pantry, I wasn't thrilled by some things I was given, but when you have no money or very little, what I got was a blessing. It depends on where you live to what you get. My neighbor gets a lot of veggies and meat from where she goes, but where I went in L.A., I got a jar of peanut butter, A deli sandwich, A can of tuna, three eggs and a can of beef stew. This was standard protein there. I was grateful. You can't be picky if you need food. If you want vegetables, check out your local farmers market. Here in Arizona, you can go up to a special booth and if you are a senior and are low income, you can receive $50 coupons for vegetables for the month. Check in your area for food banks and farmers markets where they have a program for vegetables.

It would be great if our food pantries would allow folks to be able to receive every week. But here in Ontario Canada you can only go 1 every 3 months. Single people don't get much food. Its a real shame.

Looked like they loaded you down. That’s a cantaloupe. Honeydews are green. Either are delicious. That ham and egg noodles would make a good ham and noodle casserole. Recipe below. Ham and Noodle Casserole 1 (8 oz.) pkg. egg noodles, cooked 1 (10 3⁄4 oz.) can cream of chicken soup 1⁄2 lb. ham, chopped 1 cup Cheddar cheese, grated Preheat oven to 350°. Mix frst three ingredients together in a casserole dish and bake 20 minutes until warmed. Top with cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts.

Have you texted googled or called 211 ? They will help you find more pantries and food banks that you might not know of They also have a ton of resources if you can't pay rent utilities need meds you can't afford They can find you places that may have people who will work on your car or home repairs free Even point you in right direction for clothing dishes furniture and help with pet care and pet food and know where to go for free dental and vision assistance

Wow here in the UK you wouldn't receive all of that, especially fresh meat. Also you have to be in receipt of benefits to go . I can't imagine they would let me have free food although me and my husband have a low income, so we just struggle by

Very nice that'll help you out. We looked through the sale ads last evening. The sales aren't really sales anymore. It's getting bad. Hubby said the price of burger was terrible he left it on the shelf. We used one # of the two we had in freezer for taco salad. He bought lettuce which was ridiculous in price, tomatoes, a few fresh jalapenos, tortilla chips, some cheese, bread, four pounds of apples they were a decent price he wants an apple pie. It's almost too hot for that though. I don't spend much time in the kitchen if I don't have to, in the hotter months especially if I can't turn on the AC. I can put that little roaster oven outside to bake in. His work has been slow, so we aren't spending a lot if we can help it right now. I like using the instant pot in summer. Makes it easier on me to do one pot meals.

@@elieshasteffanson5758 I usually shop around what some call loss leaders the stores offer digital coupons for those usually found on front page of sale flyer, and it's not junk food, it's meats,fresh veggies, fruit, eggs, cheese, milk, and butter that we usually buy. I try to keep a full pantry of "basics" needed for cooking, to make meals with. We usually will stock up on loss leaders to get us through to the next sale. Like a little while ago, they had Maxwell house coffee on sale, buy two, get three free, no limits. Hubby spent just under $20. But he came home with 5 large coffees for the shelf. Before the sale ended, he did it again, so double. So when the next sale comes, we just have to re up. So if you divide each one by total cost he only paid like $3.99 ea better than $9.99 ea. You have to be smart, and shop around sales. I was stating though even the sale items are going up to where they're not much of a deal either now.

Your food bank is awesome and I love the choosing options. Moderation makes it fine and when one is hungry, anything is a blessing. You got some great meal items. They try so hard to help people and do the best they can. Many don't get it. I miss my Harley. Had to sell during my divorce and now can't afford another bike. It's fun to look at them and dream.

I'm finishing up that chili that I made as it's about to shoot up to 90 here over night . I got my plants out about 2 weeks ago. Hot tye chili , red ghost , jalapenos and banana along with some grape tomatoes and their doing well. Happy gardening 😊

Good vid. I go out to a few different pantries every week and get some stuff two. There are a couple of them that are EXTREMELY generous. They'll let you take whatever you want, but I try to use a little bit of commons sense there. I'm not trying to put them out of business for sure. I would say that you got some good food there. As far as eating healthy, I think it's important to not get too crazy with the salty snacks and heavy carbbed pastries and breads. If you can avoid those, I think you'll be fine. Once the summer comes, a lot of farmers will be sharing their veggies, and they're usually abundant then. That's a good time to freeze them if you have the freezer space.

I'm a Harley fan, too. Unfortunately, I havn't gotten to ride in a couple of years now. But still love anything to do with them. Do you collect the poker chips from the different dealerships? I only have a few. Great food haul as usual. I like to see if I get anything like you do. Lol. You receive better meat choices, but I did receive a pkg of the sliced ham like you did!
