I'm from Brazil and all my saves are in Brazil. Had a really long one with Santos (my team in real life) where we became the biggest team in the world winning the world cup of clubs 2 times in the new format. Right now I'm using a database and playing with a super small club where they start without a national tier to play and you have to be the champion in the state to be able to play in the 4th tier in the next season. The crazy part is that if I'm not promoted in the national league and i don't win the state, I'm back to being without a national league to play 😂

It's great they have the depth of quality to have the big 12. I'd completely forgotten about Chapacoense, what a tragedy. Only 5 years ago. Thank for the education.
@FMLlama

Chapacoense is certainly one of the most shocking incidents in football in my life time. I thought it was a nice gesture by their opponents to insist they were awarded the trophy.

Once did a South American journeyman that ended up with me being headhunted for the Flamengo job after 8 excellent seasons with Colombia's Real San Andres (now Real Santander) - whilst we won the Libertadores at the first try, I can't lie the Brazilian league and state championship stuff was some of the most grueling things I've ever done in FM, so a save in Brazil really is not for the faint of heart.
@FMLlama
@FMLlama 2 года назад
I can imagine - those long seasons must feel like they will never end
@brunokingz
@brunokingz 2 года назад
What I like about State Championship is that there is no better place to give minutes to your youth players... it counts as a "league game" and if you lose it it's not that big of a deal so you can play them without risking your job... so it's basically a win-win situation
@FMLlama
@FMLlama 2 года назад
@@brunokingz That is a very good point - it must be a great destination for a Youth Development save
@JakePetrolhead
@JakePetrolhead 2 года назад
@@brunokingz Yeah, it was very much "it's state championship time, let's put the U18'S out", but that doesn't make the 3 or 4 games a week every week and less of a slog - still, I'm glad I did it, and I'd highly recommend any FM player give managing outside of Europe a go - South America especially is so much fun because you don't even need an especially good youth academy to bring decent players through, as the raw talent is so good.
@JakePetrolhead
@JakePetrolhead 2 года назад
@@FMLlama I'm glad I did a season in Brazil, but it was very much "I've won the Libertadores now, I don't really want to go and do another season in Brazil." Still, having more talent than I know what to do with, and trying to fight off European Elites advances for my players whilst trying to keep them as the best team on the continent was an excellent challenge, as sustainable success is genuinely a challenge even at the bigger clubs on the continent.

A good challenge in Brazil also is trying to win a Libertadores title with a team from the northeast region of Brazil, where none team has ever won an international title. With big teams like Bahia (club that revealed Daniel Alves), Ceara, Fortaleza and Sport Recife playing in Serie A

I used to love playing in Brazil. Such a lot of good players to try and get into your team and I love the State Championships, but I know a lot of people don't. I normally play as Bangu, based in Rio, but it looks like I'll have to find an extension to the database to play with them.

Amazing video, Brazil has a fun league system that everybody should play at least once to leave the Europe bubble. Palmeiras won the Libertadores two times one in 1999 against Deportivo Cali from Colombia and in 2020 and are the reining champions where they won against Santos with the 97 minute winner, the final was played in January 2021 so FM hasn't updated yet in the beginning of the game. Cruzeiro should be a fun save, even tho I really don't like them IRL they are basically the Schalke from Brazil, but in a worse situation financially.

Teams I've managed in Brazil: Cruzeiro, Atletico Paranese, Sao Paolo, Vasco de Gama, Brigantino (pre RB buy-in), and Chapa. Had the most fun at Cruzeiro, 2 league titles, 2 State Championships, 1 Brazilian Cup, and a World Club Cup. South American FM is best FM. And Brazil is a blast. And you'll never claim another league has "fixture congestion" again after managing in Brazil. ;) (Yes, the State Championships DO matter to Brazilian fans. Don't treat them like friendlies.)

@@FMLlama Most games I played was 102 with Sao Paolo. Cruzeiro I would average over 90 a season. And yes, in Brazil I run 2 1st team squads. Team A plays Game 1 and then is the bench Game 2 when Team B starts. Neither is what people would call a "rotated" squad. As a Brazilian, we generally do not care about state championships. A quarter-final win against your rival means significantly more than a title against a smaller team. It's basically common sense that the big teams should only enter in the final stages of the competition, so that the calendar stopped being such a disaster. It's also considered by some the reason that our leagues are so distant from Europe's top 5, as we always have great young players from all around the continent, but basically no time for training, as state championship games takes months. These regional tournaments only matter for teams out of the so called "big 12".
