@Grim Looters Huh. I didn't know that. That's quite nice to hear, cause I'd always felt it was somewhat strange how the Bretonnian knights were considered so noble and holy when they taxed the peasantry within an inch of their lives.

Sometimes I think, that GW actually hates us all with how many times they've managed to miss the mark and show a middle finger to the fans of universe. I have never become more patriotic over a fictional faction or similar when I hear this theme and the opening cinematic to Bretonnia in TWW, it is just amazing
It really captures that holy, Christ-inspired spirit of Knightly valor and virtue against darkness and corruption. What a piece. Richard Beddow blew it out of the water.

Almost a year late, but anyways, here's my tinfoil hat theory: one of the lines in the bretonnian vows recited throughout the trailer is "In the name of liege and lady". It would be pretty weird for Leonceur to mention a liege.... because he doesn't have one. He's the king.
@@GumshoeClassic I know but every other trailer has the main leader as the main person in the trailer. Grimgor, Karl Franz, Mannfred, etc. It's weird they chose to use Alberic.
@@ZenGardenOzone I think in this case, it is because Alberic's story is that he's about to embark upon his Grail Quest and become a Questing Knight. For Loeun to work, the trailer would have to be a recap of his life from Knight Errant to Grail Knight and King, which is a lot harder to portray without needing a ton of extra assets for a minute and a half in-engine trailer. Given that limitation, and the angle they went for (all the various Brettonian vows mixed together), Alberic probably fit a lot better while the trailers for the other factions were more open to focusing on their leaders as they best epitomized the stories of their faction. No need to make Loeun three more times, just let Alberic stand on his own and show Loeun as his liege.
@@Luke_Danger That and seeing as how Alberic doesn't stand out as much, the line "We, the knights of bretonnia, will be your shield" works better in my eyes, Louen may be a knight, but he is King first and foremost, whereas Alberic is both a servant and a ruler.

I was using a soundtrack mod for Crusader Kings and this track popped up. Damn.. What an amazing piece. I also played WH2 but I missed this gem. So fascinating.

I want to clear some comments here, for there is a lot of memeng and degrading of Bretonnian honor. Empire is spreading the resourses thin with trying to arm every one and give it the "training", when Bretonnia is focusing on 10% of population as the primary source of military power. If anything, it is like comparing Sparta and Athenes. And I don't remember anyone not recognizing that Spartan warriors were THE BEST on the battlefield and were unmatched. I know all the memes that are dancing around the Bretonnian peasants and 90% taxes, but those are just the memes. When even in lore it was the ultimate goal of every knight to become worthy of a Grail and be a true noble soul. That means treating the peasants well too. Of course, there is a few bad apples, but let me remind you that king is ALWAYS a Grail Knight, no exceptions. And if he hears a word that some local landlord is treating his peasants ill - he WILL be punished with all the weight of the law. In the end, you can even consider that the conditions of this "caste" system is also the Lady's plan to separate those who will abuse this easy power from those who will recognize what it means to be a true Grail Knight and the knight of Bretonnia in general. To summ it up - Empire provides more freedom and independence for its people, which are great, no doubts, but Bretonnians are not just mindless powermongers and peasantry abusers. There is a reason for everything (even the 90% tax) if you will search for it. Also, let me remind you that Bretonnia was hard fckd in the 6th edition with lore by GWokeshop.
@@Guiguiwan Honestly I think Life for the average person is terrible everywhere in the this Setting. Especially for Humans. The only ones who might sort of enjoy Life without being part of the High Society are probably Orks. Even Wood and High Elves are basically forced to be Militia Soldiers for Life, while knowing that a Chaos God might eat their Soul if they die, so not even they can really lay back and enjoy Life.
Is there a longer version? Or the trailer version is the only one? By the way, do you have the soundtrack they use in The Grim And The Grave DLC trailer?

The chief region of The Witcher games, Temeria, is basically Bretonnia, or Arthurian Britannia. Just as Bretonnia has Athel Loren, home of the wood elves, within its borders, so too does Temeria nominally own Brokilon Forest, home of the Dryads. But you don't dare go into either enchanted forest. Both kingdoms have the Fleur de Lis as their symbol, use similar musical instruments, house the Lady of the Lake, etc.
Mann Tau Well, it's a French influenced English. Even the land of Bretonnia is analogous to Brittany, France, site of English colonization during the Arthurian times.
Brittany, France, (basically where Bretonnia is in the Old World), was the sight of a considerable migration of Britons during the Dark Ages and early Middle Ages, due to war in the isles. Its name was synonymous with Britain as a result, (Britannia, Breton, etc.). The people there were English, but were influenced by some Frankish, Gallo, and Norman culture. So they were French-Inspired, but they were ethnic English. So, French-Influenced-English.
If I somehow manage to survive the end of the world in whatever form it takes then I vow to create a nation that resembles the Kingdom of Bretonnia as closely as possible. I will even call myself Gilles Le Breton just for the sake of amusement and accuracy
Matthew Christiansen I don't know what you're talking about, the Lore of Warhammer is unknown to me (outside of Total War). But as far as I can tell, for me it's pretty obvious that this "Lady" is a farce. Maybe she originated from the wood elves forest and it's manipulating the neighbors to do her bidding.. She does that because she is evil, or because she wants to protect the forest (which doesn't seem to be the case). Of all the suppose deities of this universe, the lady is easily the most dubious character.
But that makes no sense, bretonians and wood elves are mortal enemies! They had countless bloody wars amongst each other. If the lady is an elven goddess, she’s doing a very poor job. Or just hates her kin, that would make sense too... Oh wait, it’s end times lore. Alright, then it doesn’t count anyways :) FOR OUR LADY ORION, TASTE MY BLADE!!!! (Gets sniped by an arrow)
