Thanks for the review. I have no question as yet. My comment so far is that the novel is realistic. Students can associate with the typical scenarios that unfold as well as the various settings. There are many themes - culture, racism, prejudice, gender, family structure, school encounters, etc. to discuss.

I agree! A very relatable text. The setting, language, and culture are all quite familiar to us in the Caribbean. And as you mention, there are so many poignant themes explored. CSEC can have a field day with setting questions on this text.
