This video resonates with me so deeply it almost hurts. Coming from a good family, sometimes people always see whats on the surface, never what's below. Not many people will bother to take the time to know that everyone has deep struggles, and just because its not on social media, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. When you said apologized for having good circumstances and also for not being in as "bad" of a situation as some others out there, it made me realize how easy it is for people to judge others behind a screen. People so often lack compassion towards others online and project all their insecurities on people that have what they do not. As the only child in the family to 2 retired parents, I recently had to take the role to provide for my family, so all your struggles are something I can really relate to. Your channel not only drives me to work even harder, it also gives me a realistic view on how there are so many ups and downs in each persons journey. Thank you for making this video, I thought there was nobody out there who could understand my circumstances, but I'm glad I found your channel when I was trying to learn Japanese. I admire you so much for achieving 1m subscribers, especially when English isn't your first language, despite being made fun of and called cringe, despite failing to get views for years, you pulled through. It was only about an hour ago I came accross your channel, while searching for calendar and time blocking. I'm so grateful that I have found you. And coincidence or not, it's 1st January. This is the best video I have watched since a while. Yes, it triggered me in a good way, to the point that I have got some tears, because I can relate to some things, including family. I'm currently trying to get into IT, specifically web programming, and I also get laughs from some people around me, but they can't stop me. They can't take the "inner fire" away from me, but I still have to work towards being more stronger mentally. You are a very inspiring, ambitious and hard working girl, and I can see how you will never give up. And you are right about money, but I think it depends on people too. They choose what type of content to consume, and that's why other videos that scam or provide a wrong value goes viral. The way you spoke your story is really great. Thank you for letting a girl believe in herself and try again. Thank you for sharing your story. You can see it in your eyes, as you talk about and relive old memories just how painful it was to shoot parts of this video. Overall, I guess I've been privileged too, but I have also had times where I’ve lost everything. A devastating loss is a devastating loss regardless of where you start from, and I think if you’ve experienced a better life and then lose it - it’s just very hard because you know what you’ve lost and are missing. Despite the fact your losses were devastating, it speaks a lot that your immediate concern is that you may trigger someone with even less. Empathy is a rare quality in the world. Anyway, congrats on 1M, Ruri, I can see that it’s well deserved.
Everything starts with self belief. It’s so hard having self belief even with the support of others but when no one supports you it almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy that you will never believe in yourself or aren’t worthy of doing so at all. It’s a working progress but you have to be your biggest cheerleader, you’re the only one in it for the long run. Great video!🙂

I'm struggling with anxiety-depressive disorder, and every day I just want to give up on life. I force myself to get out of bed, take a shower, go to work, do something useful. I'm trying to get better, I'm trying to change, but I feel like nothing is working out. But this video helped me a little. Thank you for that. I hope someday my dream will come true too. I too had a difficult childhood. My father was in the military and so could never come home for half the year. The fear of losing my father, the stress my mother experienced, knowing the real problems of the country, the possibility of an attack at any moment, growing up without a father, I have seen wars, deaths, suicides, etc. since I was born. Our lives overlap so much, except it wasn’t just family but friends my family grew up with. It was betrayal after betrayal after betrayal, every single year looking vastly different to others financially. I sadly, let it get to me and have struggled heavily to find my worth and determination to be strong enough to be strong during those times. I am slowly trying to educate myself and be my own strength so that when others hurt my family, I can be the umbrella that protects them. Rui, I am impressed by your "never-say-die" attitude. Those horrible and demoralizing events and people you'd encountered are parts & parcels of life; they are character building. The harder it hit you, the more determined you are to rise up and run again, the sharper, the tougher and more knowledgeable person you'll become. Pls continue doing what you have planned and are planning for yourself. You'll be successful and happy gradually but definitely. I am the youngest in a big family but the brothers who would help me passed away, and the surviving ones are totally useful. I am more financially stable and happier now, than all of them; I have to thank those who turned away from me, as their actions revealed their true identity, and to due this, have made me become a much better and stronger person. Never bear grudges with those who failed you or it will only hurt yourself spiritually and mentally. Just forget their existence. Be happy.

Just found your channel and I can't believe how happy I am for a total stranger. I hope your channel keeps growing! Thank you for raising awareness about how some cultures believe in marrying young women off at a time when they don't have the skills to protect themselves. I feel privileged that I never encountered this myself. I have a lot of things to say but I'll preface it by saying the most important part - be kind to yourself. About what your uncle did to the business - I like to think ugly(on the inside) people come into our lives to remind us not to become complacent. They're pitiful in the sense that they can't find a way to 'win' without destroying someone else. You don't have to forgive them, just don't waste energy hating them (in my opinion). When my family's business took off we held many dinner parties and had many 'friends' but as soon as the business declined (politics/health issues) most people were suddenly 'too busy' to visit. It was a hard pill to swallow. The options were to 1. give up and ruminate about the 'what ifs' or 2. stop blaming yourself and move forwards. I'm so glad you chose the second. You're a survivor, it took a ton of work behind the scenes, be proud of it. I know this is getting boringly long but I feel it's important to say you're not selfish for wanting a different lifestyle and to do things your way to support your family. As cringey as it sounds, people forget that all change comes from within. One of my favourite quotes is: 'I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.' - Thanks for the reminding me of it, it was all because of your video I remembered
