Graphic novels, comics, anime, manga & more! Rocketboom NYC's Ella Morton visits Forbidden Planet's New York Store. Forbidden Planet - New York Store www.fpnyc.com/store/content/26... Show Credits: info.rocketboom.com/index.php?...
Read the walking dead comics! The Walking Dead comics are hands down the most compelling of the comics. I warn you though once you start reading you cant stop!
I've been a patron at Forbidden Planet for over twenty years, and this video captures pretty much everything I love about the store. It's a totally different market than it was when FP took up the much larger storefront across the street, but you still get a huge influx of customers into that store. The whole thing is an experience; you can wander in looking for one issue and leave with a hundred bucks worth of stuff. I know; I seem to do this weekly.
We need a rocketboom Australia! (I know Ella has been to Sydney to interview Natalie Tran) Because I only recently found The Daily Planet in Brisbane, and there are so many little places that would do a lot better thanks to series like these.
Forbidden Planet is just badass, honestly...I've been to the London branch multiple times and always, always end up coming out with something. *Sudden urge to spend!*
My fondest memories of childhood were reading TINTIN or ASTERIX under a very comfortable blanket burrowed in the corner of my room. Thumbsucking was optional then - I wonder if they would allow me to bring my blanket (and thumb) into the FP store...lol... Perhaps I can start a new 'fad' for adults...
Hello Ella, I know you like "The X-Files", I watched it all the time as well, I see you found the Graphic novel. That show was brilliant, but do you remember "Millennium"?, From the same creator. Now that was the best show ever, Definitely not for the faint of heart. It was a very Dark and violent show, only last for 3 seasons but it was awesome!!
@TwoThirdsMajority I like stuff by Adrian Tomine. Scott Pilgrim is pretty kick-ass. And since I was obsessed with the show, I checked out the new X-Files comics when I was at the store.
I've been in the nearest FB to me once, and as a geek, even I'm not sure how comfortable I felt going in there. It sort of felt like if I were caught in there, it'd be as bad if not worse as being caught in an adult video store.
Ok during a recent promo on the old channel I stated that I wouldn't watch and support the channel split I did this for various reasons, mainly because I knew a channel split would negatively effect Rocketboom NYC views (which it has) But upon seeing how much lower this channel was compared to the others I felt like it needed help and though I still don't agree I will stop my boycott :)
@Ottawa3453 Well, half of Sydney's population are migrants or the children of migrants, so the accent tends to neutralise. Until this past year, most of those migrants came from England, Ireland and New Zealand, and our TV is predominantly American and English. We're constantly being bombarded by an incredible array of accents.
Is is just me or is it a bit sad that out of the whole of NYC they decide to feature a shop that can be found in pretty much every city across america? I'm a geek my self but I am sure there are more interesting things in NYC, things I can not see in my own city.
