It is a very good idea to take the new clutch disk and test fit it on the trans input shaft to make shure it fits. I had a new clutch disk with the right spline but was a bit too small - a defective part.
Thank You for the video! I wish you had shown how to adjust the clutch lever arms for proper PTO engagement. The use of the long alignment bolts is a great idea. Liked !!
I like the way you used two long bolts to keep the bell housing and trans sections aligned and attached while you used a wheeled floor jack to move the front section out. You never had to completely separate them to remove the clutch. Didn't need a hoist, and you could do it outside. That's pretty helpful, to me. The video doesn't show it, but did the new clutch and plate solve the problem of the PTO clutch not working? That's a common problem with the two stage clutch on an older 3000, and the problem I have right now.
Thanks for the input @Jerry Cummings I will keep that in mind. Means I will have to bleep out a bunch of that "pain and suffering" dialogue but I'm game. :) Thanks for watching!
I charged 6 hours, spent probably 8-10 with the fight to get it back together so we could bolt it up. I generally consider a clutch job to be 4-6 hours. Thanks for watching!
I wished you would have given an explanation as why it di not want to go in. With the clutch pilot tool it is supposed to go all the way in . Maybe height misalignment? I am in France and I use my 4000 a lot . I need to pull the hydraulic back lift plate the piston is not holding pressure very well. You should comment a bit more instead of the accelerated view. I subscribed today.
I don't know why exactly but I have found the Fords to be Really picky about getting the transmission shaft started into the pilot bearing. Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub!
@@CanadianRedneck15 no problem. You got me into checking my clutch. I am always to the stop tab on the pedal and the course is hugelike 3 inches or mor before there is pressure but it works fine until the transmission get to temperature, then it grinds a bit from neutral to first and neutral to reverse. I got to go easy to get it into gear without metal to metal . It does not do it when cold. I think it is time.
I took mechanics in high school then farmed and then my father and I started a tractor salvage yard. You take a few hundred tractors apart it's not so hard to put one back together. :) Thanks for watching!
You made that look easy. Something go in wrong 1st attempt My father in law had one the same. It was seized solid. Removed injectors, still seized, removed sump, all looked good till I undone mains 1 by 1 no 2 main locked. No idea why but the state of eng oil was like grease and they wonder why. No idea
Just wondering dave can you explain how the different types of ford 3000 pto.s work in relation to clutch is lever engaged without pressing clutch pedal..?
The "live" style like in this video with 2 stage clutch you have to press the clutch all the way down to engage/disengage the PTO, with the "independent" PTO you just move the lever, the PTO clutch is activated hydraulically. Thanks for watching!
@@CanadianRedneck15 They maybe pre-set, but I'm working on my tractor now, and the adjustment screws are at different lengths. so I guess the are not set correctly.
A lot of us could certainly do without that music! Lots of people would rather watch and hear you work!!! People don't learn anything from the high-speed blur!!! We also do not learn anything about a two stage clutch in this video! And some of the text was impossible to read because it blended in with the background! This is not a good video! And since only one out of every twenty-seven people that don't like something will ever say anything, there's probably a lot of people that did not like this that did not want to say anything!
