In this video I show how to install a blue pring upgrade kit. I also talk about and show different scenarios on the years and what to do when pieces break. Help me keep helping you! Donate now. dieseltechron.com/donate/
I absolutely love all the respect that other RU-vidrs show to him. A lot of them who have their own repair channels come right out and sad that they followed his videos on learning how to work on diesel engines. He may be gone physically but he surely is living on on RU-vid. Still able to help people to work on their own vehicles.
Ron’s videos should all be put on DVD and or whatever the newest video media is, and sold as 6.0 collection and 7.3 collection! I would buy them! RIP Ron and thanks!!
I found your videos a few years ago. And they made the task of fixing this old lemon of a truck a bit less scary. Thank you, I know you have passed. But you wouldn't imagine the thousands of people your videos have helped.
What a great guy and a damn good mechanic. I have used his videos many times and never knew he wasn't with us anymore. I will still use his knowledge. Rip Ron
I love being able to watch over the older videos you guys have up. Really missing this man's expertise in the diesel community. Hope you're all doing well!!
This man saved ALL of us tons of time and money. If you are a Tech and you do this for a living well then face it HE Saved you time and you made money because of that. Donate to his family! They have lost a father, husband and provider. We cant bring him back but we can help the family. Pay that Karma back, pay it forward. Someday your family might need help. You can find the donation tab in DieselTechRons last video.
really sorry to hear Ron has passed. my condolences to the family. Ron is a very helpful man and us superduty guys really appreciate his excellent videos. keep on keeping on Ron.
watched your video on injector replacement withthe standpipe and dummy plug replacement did all of it in 8 hrs by myself complete with oil change and coolant change with all filters ran great for about 150 miles when another injector took a dump gonna do blue spring now this is an 2006 6.0 diesel its been to ford garage 4 times and private mechanic 4 times for a total cost of about 20,000 dollars and none of them put the upgraded 12 mm pipes and dummy plugs in. now i do my own work because of your videos above mentioned job cost me 700.00 including all tools and parts. keep up the great videos i will eventually have a great truck
Got mine installed. OEM Ford part...USA> Wow, at 285,000 kms I guess mine was sure sacked out. What an improvement. Smoother start-up, Idle, and quicker acceleration. Thanks Ron ! Darn good advice.
For the '05 and later (or at least with my '06) with the plastic CAC hose there is a little metal spring clamp *under* the hose clamps in a little groove in the plastic hose. This little spring clamp is very easy to remove, or just slide back, and makes the removal and reinstall of the plastic hose *much* easier. OBW, thanks for your videos, lots of info and easy to understand!
I have to say this was the most helpful video! I did my blue spring upgrade last night and wow you showed the most helpful tips and the best way to do it. keep up the great work!
THANK YOU for pointing out what o-rings went where, You would think that the blue spring kit instructions that came from FORD would say...but no, it's just " please refer to your owners manual" I watched over a dozen videos looking for this information. THANK YOU AGAIN!
Very helpful video. I was able to do the update without pulling the airbox. Tie down for the inter cooler line and I was able to compress the other hose with my hand to remove the lower cover bolt.
Just completed mine. I was replacing the coolant reservoir, and hoses, so I removed the upper radiator hose. Everything worked liked shown here. No problems.
I had watched this video quite a few times for different info and I just now noticed that whole toolbox over full of ficms setting over against the wall 🤣🤣 shows just how common of an issue they were back in the day lmao
The injectors are the main thing that suffers. The magic number I'm told is 40 PSI. if it fails to go under 40 for a long time then the injectors don't fill completely. This causes performance issues and over time major major wear concerns. The oil pressure on the other side of the injector is still there maybe over 20,000 PSI factoring the intensifier piston surface area of the injector and if the fuel is not there. Then the less resistance causes the piston in the injector to travel faster.
Great Video. I wish I would have watched this first! When trying to undo the fuel line from the housing I didn't hit the wrench to create the quick break away like you did. I used pressure and it twisted the fuel line and put a kink in it. Does anyone have the part number to replace that fuel line?
I've seen this done before and I have the same model year as this video but is there a difference in the housing that tells you the spring has been replaced? Does anyone know I if not I think I'll do this and replace my radiator hoses at the same time. Thanks
my 03 didn't have an o ring behind the old black collet. when I did the blue spring mod I used a new collet without an o ring. I'm hearing a lot of air noise in the regulator, is that cause by not having the o ring?
Been looking into this upgrade on a 04 f250...sinister sells it with their blue cover which looks better but don't know if the OEM is better any suggestions??? Anyone? Thanks
Can anyone tell me what part it is that is broken that he says is like a Jet, cant find any part numbers for that so that i can have one in case mine is broken when i do this project this weekend Thank You
I just bought this blue spring kit but am hesitant to install it!!! Any cons that folks have run into installing the blue spring kit. I purchased the spring kit from Ford it self. I just made a Video of my new truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! RIP brother Ron!
Rip Ron. But I could use some help. I kinked the fuel return line cause I didn’t watch this video. I want to replace it but I can’t slip it out. Any ideas?
Ron, at the very end you say " .. we now have a higher fuel pressure which will save our injectors ..." is that the purpose of the blue spring? Running at 60 PSI and above? And how does that save the injectors ? Thank you in advance for you your comments!
Ilian Stantchev From what I understand fuel in these Diesel engines also serves as a lubricant for the injectors and if you dont have the pressure the injectors will fail because of friction and be damaged.
Does anyone know the best place to get the OEM blue spring kit. I️ can find aftermarket stuff but I️ would like a ford part or at least one that ford recommends.
HELP! did blue spring kit in my truck, everything hooked up. bent the return fuel line. I got a new fuel line. got the old one out, but I can't get the new one in! do I have to remove something to get clearance? is there a certain way to put it on? I've tried getting it in there but the space between the hose to water pump and the block is so tight the line doesn't even fit through it. what am I supposed to do?
You can feeding it up or down. If needed use a 6mm Allen and undo the bracket. Then feed it in and reinstall the bracket. They aren't all the same. One is even on the outside of the thermostat housing.
Is the Blue spring upgrade a recommended upgrade? Does Ford recommend this upgrade? I bought a 2004 F250SD w/6.0l, 137,000 and was able to get a 2year/24,000 Ford Warranty with it. The truck had a history since new with this Ford dealer. However, I'm not sure if this upgrade was ever made. Is it marked on the outside to indicate this upgrade. I want reliability not performance. No tuning just upgrades. I installed a Mishimoto coolant filter and the truck was Bullet Proofed with a new round EGR cooler and Ford Oil cooler as part of my pre delivery before I took the truck home at purchase time. What about a Mishimoto radiator or thermostat, what's your recommendation? Thanks, I really enjoy your great videos.Kent
the blue spring kit is a ford update. hints why its sold by ford. the factory regulator spring was not stiff enough to maintain oem fuel pressure for between 50-65psi. if you measure fuel psi at idle you may have 50-65 psi, but as soon as your under WOT your psi will drop down to about 20psi. this causes damage to the injectors intensifier piston and in the long run injector failure. its a great idea to do this upgrade no matter how many miles are on the truck.
tpcrb I am not nearly as experienced as Ron, but the conclusion I came to is this: If you are able to and don't mind monitoring certain things, like oil vs. coolant temps, then go for the 6.0, but keep in mind, little things like this can and will come up. with the duramax, your up-front cost will be higher, but will will have less small, tedious things to address. a watched and cared for 6.0 will be the better buy, especially if you like raw power but either platform will still be able to set you back in repairs if you don't keep an eye on things. each engine has its strengths and weaknesses. I personally just bought a 6.0 recently and so far, i love it. I have seen and driven a few duramax trucks from those years and wasn't impressed. if you go duramax, go for one with the allison tranny. the ford transmission with the 6.0 is pretty solid, so long as you keep on the maintenance.
tpcrb as far as new trucks, the ford makes much more power and has the better powertrain IMO . the chevy has a nicer interior. both trucks are great upon initial testing, but only time will tell in the long run.
The Allison Trans has it all over the Ford. The 2015 Powerjoke has issues already Ford is aware of and not notifying customers. Customers are getting stranded. To say the Ford is better is ridiculous.
Dive Bar Casanova Allison has NOTHING over TorqShift when it comes to performing. People just associate the name "Allison" w/class 8 transmissions and buses etc,,, but the trans backing up the dmax is a much smaller, gentler, designed for smoothness over brute strength.. crank up the power more than a few notches and the Allison will start slipping and wasting any chance of using all that extra torque , and it was DESIGNED to do this. It's barely better than the 48RE. STOCK VS. STOCK the TorqShift will handle MUCH more torque. My 5R110 behind my 04 6.0 handled numerous 1/4mile blasts and 4WD launches in ~8K lb lifted C/C making over 1150 ft-lbs and ~~900HP
+DieselTechRon you saved me on the save your 7.3 for a quarter thanks ron but my harnesses where melted is that a cilonoid or idm i thinki was gona look for the 220 volt and got my truck back together now my boost gets to 10 pounds and sounds really bad like a howl or whine bad turbo?
Ive done 10+ of these and not once have I removes any intercooler tubes or radiator hoses. in Fact If you don't replace the cover plate( which theres no need to) you don't have to remove the Fuel Line Takes 5 minutes to Swap a Blue Spring
