Thank you to Ron's family for keeping his videos on RU-vid. It is a real help. I just wish I had found it when he was around. Sorry for your loss and the loss of his GREAT videos.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Angel Korbyn Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
rip... Ron finally met You ! I can see why a lot of guys had a lot of respect for you and your git er done positive attitude and work with what you got !
Ron your the best. Your making me feel alot more comfortable on working on my diesel 6.0. Played with gas engines but diesel always scared me, not anymore. Thanks :)
Tragic lost of a huge Diesel Mechanic teaching the Truck World the in's and out's of diesel diagnostics and repair. With a slight diesel odor coming of engine bay..have a idea where's it may be coming from. Thank you and we miss you. Ron... RIP
I had the hose made at a place in Indio called Hosemart. I don't command or mess with the ipr to leak test it. The only time I suspect or command the IPR is when I want to test it and listen for a change to verify it is working.
I have a 2005 6.0 that started just stalling, did some clean up work adding stuff to gas and oil and thought it was fixed and then several months later it started stalling and then would not crank while hot. Already knew I had some bad injectors so we replaced all of them, removed EGR, replaced glow plugs, and ICP and although truck ran much better it still would stall occasionally while driving it like turning the key off. After much research my mechanic had only one guess and that was the high pressure oil pump so I had him tear into the engine again and the original pump did have a lot more play in it as if it were severely worn for only 105,000 but the biggest thing is the bracket that holds the connector for the line to the pump had the bolt crossed threaded so the bracket was not doing the job properly. The connector apparently had begun to leak under certain situations, the pump was replaced, new connector installed and bolt hole rethreaded and new bolt installed the truck now runs better than it ever has.
Hey Ron, your videos are most helpful and informative. I went ahead and change the stand pipes and dummy plugs. I bought the scan gauge, programmed it, still have a no start when hot. the icp, ipr ficm and sync read good at first start up. When I go back after a few minutes, the icp reads @100 psi and ipr is at 85%. I am thinking sct fitting on tje high pressure oil pump. The truck is a 2005 f350. Any suggestions?. Thank You.
ill agree ron, i work for GM training to be a diesel tech, i do work on a fleet of 6.0's and 7.3's outside of work, im the same way with seals, o rings, injectors anything, i always tell them go with the OEM part's that way you know they fit correctly, theres no alignment issues, you dont have to take it there to get the work done just buy them from ford or international(i usally buy SOME gaskets there about 30% cheeper)
just got an 2005 f350 6.0 I cut it off while i was putting diesel and it don't want to start. i use some starting fuel and it crank then thre days later it cut off and it was the alternator. I replace it change a batery. and now it don't want to start with out fuel. It was runnig good after i started it, but today it started to run bad, like is missing fuel. but the pump is good . i don't konw where else to look for. Any help will greatly appreciate. And thanks for the good knowledge you input in your channel.
Hey Ron love your videos. I have an 05 that hard to start in the mornings. When I pressure tested the high pressure system i don't hear any noticeable leaks. I hear a slight leak that sounds like its coming from the crank case. What should I check from here?
i have van 1995 diesel econoline club wagon i change hpop , idm , pcm and it start up then die while start up alot of white smoke , wgen i do abuzzer test throw the cofe 1271 is it acause or something else , what should i do thanx , thanx RON
Hi Ron I had a Q for you and wondering best way to do so, I have watched your vids on 6.0lt cranks no start, On cranking getting 200psi and 85% ipr . On inspection, oil cooler screen had holes in it and ipr screen had holes in it, I have replaced the pump, and ipr, did the oil cooler and screen and egr kit at same time. also replaced all seals on oil tubs.( I was in there any way replacing #7 injector) It cranked for a few min and started, test drove it a few times, restarted it 6 times, 7 time started for one sec and stalled and will not restart, I am back to 200 and some lbs on cranking and ipr goes straight to 85% Im suspecting dirt in ipr ? was hoping for some advice before pulling it apart again. Thanks Steve
I have a 07' 6.0... the truck was running fine this morning, but when i pulled in the neighborhood the truck started to bog down and started getting worse when i got closer to the house... when i parked the truck just shut off on its own
Hey Ron, I have a late 03 that has a shut down issue. I don't know much about diesel engines. But I have studied your info and read for weeks. What I done. I bought a scan gauge 2 and programed it. I have fuel in the filter and they are new. I checked ficm I have 58 volts. I have well over 500 psi icp at start and never drops even when it shuts off. I have about ipr 23 to 25% duty cycle.. I have new battery's new alternator good connections. Everything that sold show a sign that's something has failed test good. I'm getting ready to test fuel pressure. Soon as the fittings come in. I'm lost for ideas. Truck sometime stumbles just before it dies .
Bryan Whitaker sir I have a 2003 Powerstroke F350 with exactly the same symptoms as yours I am dying to know what you have come up with I know your post was two years ago but hopefully you get this my name is Greg Ortiz I'm from Albuquerque New Mexico I'm about to buy some diagnostic tools so I can help myself out in this situation I really enjoy working on my truck and she's been a good Workhorse
Bryan Whitaker I'd love to find out what ever happened with yours I'm about to invest some time and a high pressure oil pump but I need diagnostic tools to find out what levels I have on my IPR and ICP valves
When you added air pressure to the driver side, is it possible that the bigger leak on the passenger side is allowing all the air to leak and hiding a possible leak on the driver side? And also, you said that you replace the injector sometimes... is that cause it has possibly worn from loss of oil? Thanks diesel tech Ron, your videos kick azz!!!
Hey Ron enjoy your videos! I have an 04 f250 6.0 recently took to get oil changed and oil and fuel filters changed. drove it home. was fine. next morning while plugged in, it won't start. turns over , sounds like no fuel. what could they have done wrong. Or possibilities. btw batteries are at full charge now, due to trying start they were low. Ficm is 47-48 v icp 30 % can't get an ipr reading but ran good before the change. Thanks
Ron, i love your channel. your videos are very helpful. However, i have had 2 scenarios last week when it took approximately 10s for my truck to start. it was about 40*F outside when i tried to start it, both times. IMO it takes too long to start typically, but i don't have another 6.0 to compare it to. it was back to normal the next day when the temps were warmer. Does this sound like it could be a oil pressure leak issue? I'd like to get it figured out before winter comes, but i'm not sure if thats the theory i should start with. It's an 04. Thanks.
I'm having a issue with my 2006 6.0 powerstroke. I changed hpop, lpop, stand pipe, dummy plug, 8 injectors, icp, and ipr. I drove it one day. The next day it wouldn't crank. What do you think is going on?
Hey Ron, woke up with a crank no start. Noticed my alternator power cable was grounding to the alternator. Replaced alternator and cleaned up the burnt power cable. Power cable was still discolored before I wrapped with heatshrink. Still crank no start. Could the burnt power cable be the cause for a crank no start? Sensors and ficm are good after checking
Hello Sr I have a question I have a 2005 f350 6.0 Diesel and I have a problem after a drive it for a while and then turn it off it won't start unless a get a starting fluid any idea s plz let me know thank you
I did find a kit to reseal the injectors in my 04' the truck has been running great for about 8 months now. the kit is from Allaiant Power part #PA0002. this is a full kit with all new O rings for the full injector plus a new snap ring and crush washer.
I am a heavy duty mechanic but do a lot of work on powerstrokes on the side. I have had a lot of good luck with the dtech injectors have you tried them? if so what were your thoughts on these injectors and pumps?
hey ron , my truck is a 2003 f250 6.0 , and I am having a not start when hot problem , is there any other way I can check for leaks with the valve covers off while running cause I cant find that fitting to do the air test ?????? trucks starts right up in the morning has like 600-700 psi idling and when hot has 580 icp psi , I turn it off and turn it back on and only builds 350-370 icp psi , once the oil cools down it starts again
Eduardo Gongora I got the same problem u be driving and it will die it will run good til it’s get warm and it dies and won’t start back up if u know what could be the cause of it plz text me
I have an 04 F250 6.0 Powerstroke. The Injectors, EGR and Oil cooler replaced less than 1 year ago. It will start cold wonderfully but one it gets warm, no start until it cools down. When I ran this test external air 56°F. Less than 10,000 miles driven since I had the work done. No power loss when driving. Would this be the IPR? 5 min Running KeyOn Crank Running KeyOn Crank Time 17:42 17:43 17:43 17:56 17:56 17:58 ICP 804.8 12 1033 718 10.3 392.2 VGT Duty Cycle(%) 60 0 0 54.5 0 0 FICM Main Power(Volts) 47 47 47 47 47 47 Engine Oil Temp (°F) 96 102 102 147 147 146 IPR (%) 27.1 14.7 84 26.7 14.7 84
What if I have squeezy bottle, take off air intake, get someone to crank over the diesel while the engine is under a no start condiiion and spray some diesel in the intake while cranking, will that work sir?
Of course its recommended to replace the entire injector, dont get paid very much to replace a 4 dollar seal. Also cant charge that extra %20 on parts with a 30 dollar seal kit. Always leave room for denial...amiright??
