Amazing testimony on your MPG readings after cleaning your EBP. I rebuilt my 2002 7.3 all by my lonesome and it set in my drive for over a year before i took it on a 600 mile trip. I was amazed at my readings as I had never seen such readings prior to my modifications. I did a EBP delete in my rebuild and never thought much about it. Even so When I ended my trip , My reading was 19.2! That's Gospel! Shows' to go U a little TLC goes a long way and pays off in the long run! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! O by the way, I am in my 70s and still I have a hankering to improve my skills! Keep on truckin'.

Great informative video! When I bought my 6.0L truck, I had never had a diesel but I needed one to pull my 30’ Travel Trailer. I watched every video I could about the 7.3s & 6.0s (Powerstrokehelp, Bill Hewitt for the 6.0s). I would have loved to get a 7.3 but they were like a unicorn in my area. I did buy a ‘05 6.0 (studded & deleted) which I love! And have done some upgrades & a few repairs in the past year. The “Blue Spring” upgrade was the best so far for power & mpg. Archoil (oil & fuel) additive was the easiest. That fixed my stiction in #8 injector problem. The 7.3s & 6.0s are great trucks, sites like yours are a great resource for people who are looking to buy or have these trucks. Thanks for all you do making your videos!

I appreciate the support. There is definitely a lot to learn when buying any new diesel. It is getting harder and harder to find 7.3's for a reasonable price. When I found the deal on mine I jumped on it less than 24 hours after it went up and had multiple people in line behind me.

My stock Ford up pipes fell apart at 109,000 miles they were leaking bad. I replaced them with the international ballast up pipes. I spent the extra hundred and got the ceramic coated up pipes. They are a major improvement. For future episode I suggest you look at that big monstrosity of a cast aluminum ducting but most of us call a Plenum but ford does not. Due to a shop here and put in the wrong clamps on the turbo and Plenum my plan fractured. I installed the AFe system it's a huge improvement. I enjoy your channel and how do you explain the different jobs. Keep it up
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
Dang man! I might be lucky but my stock up pipes don't even have a hint of any leaks yet at 122k. Whenever I end up doing the trans is when i will replace the up pipes. Should make the job MUCH easier. Are you saying you cracked your spider or he plenums on the heads? I have never heard of anyone cracking the spider. I do plan on replacing it at some point with a 2 piece system. Thanks for following along!

Living On Wheels yes sir we will have best 7.3s on the tube. I want to clean my exhaust back pressure sensor and tube also, gonna strip foil from pipe, maybe wrap it Donno, uppipe leaking bit. Want to fully strip tip area and clean all the junk in valley and do 5” exhaust soon, so many plans lol
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
@@FixItNick FixItNick No matter how many items you cross off the list there always seems to be more projects hahaha. Cleaning out the back pressure tube definitely seems to have made a big difference on highway mileage. I have spent a good amount of time cleaning the valley when I was installing different parts and I am very happy that I did. Makes a big difference when trying to track down problems and is just plain and simple nice to work on when it's clean. You're gonna make me super jealous with the 5" exhaust haha. I had one on my old 7.3 and it sounded mean! Always enjoy seeing the progress on your truck!
@FixItNick
@FixItNick 5 лет назад
Living On Wheels I had the exhaust laying around for about 2 months now, other stuff keeps popping up, now I finished stock VS intake MPG testing (gotta edit) I love the result the 6637 is getting, I’m doing another quick test by actually not carrying about MPGs and driving normal and still get better MPG than with stock intake driving like A Grama lol. Hoping to post video tomorrow if time permits. Since you keep beating me in other mods I gotta up you with exhaust haha
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
@@FixItNick I know the feeling. I got a backlog of projects that I just haven't had the opportunity to install. Major pain in the butt not fully being able to crawl around and under the truck to do different mods and stuff. Makes for more logistics on timing the bigger jobs When I can get help. Not to mention it's my only rig right now so I can't have it down long haha. Hoping to pick up another truck sometime this year to allow bigger more extensive projects to take place! Very interested to see your results from the 6637! Obviously, I have one but I never checked the mpg difference with it. And get that dang exhaust on!!! hahaha gotta let the bald eagles fly!

Wow man you're getting around 19 mpg that's awesome.... the 7.3 I have has some issues that need to be addressed still but even so I can routinely see somewhere around 15-17 mpg weather I'm driving around town/city or on the expressway doesn't really matter which is cool. Maybe after fixing some things and modifying some things 18+ mpg can be achieved.

Just subscribed , from Maple Ridge B.C. I am a small commercial bee keeper and have two trucks, F350 and a F550. Both 2002 with the 7.3, I try to do all my own work on both trucks. I have done brakes , high pressure oil pump, wheel bearing, universals. I have been having a issue with the turbo on the 350 , putting a load on and hitting the pedal , getting a whining noise, back off the pedal and the noise goes away, thought it was the turbo, so in the great wisdom of thought I decided to take the turbo off the 550 and put on the 350, then rebuild the 350 turbo, all of which I learned from your videos, did the swap trucked started up great and now when I put the pedal down the whining is worse , someone suggested the up pipes were leaking exhaust , I checked ,they are, before I take the turbo off again to get at the up pipes do you think this is where the whining is from , also I looked at the 550 with the turbo already of off and yes it looks like it is also leaking , but there was no noise coming from it, took the turbo off this truck as I only use it six months of the year, how hard is it to replace the up pipe gasket ,
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 3 года назад
Hmmm I don’t think leaking up pipes would cause a whine. Is there a chance it could be from the drivetrain?

Would a leaking exhaust from the up pipes cause a whistling sound when pulling my 5th wheel at about 2500 RPM and 15 PSI on the turbo? You mentioned something about the noise going away.
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 4 года назад
An exhaust leak can cause noise and can sometimes be heard over these engines. Its hard to answer your question for sure though. Best way to spot an exhaust leak on your up pipes is to find the soot.

Hi Joe! I am a new subscriber and really enjoy your videos. I have a 95 f350 7.3 dually ambulance which I use to pull a 28 foot travel trailer. I am having high EGTs and am trying to figure out why. I have deleted the CAT and had a free flow muffler installed in the stock exhaust. New NAPA air filter...6636?... My intake manifold had a leak and was fixed. Still high EGTs even when not pulling a load. Any ideas?
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
I appreciate it! What kind of EGTs are you seeing? Do you have any sort of tuner on the truck? What are you boost numbers looking like?

I back off at 1200. No tuner.
@randylay1439
@randylay1439 5 лет назад
I don't have a boost gauge so no idea there.
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
hmmmm. I cant say for sure but my instinct would be that you have an exhaust leak or boost leak somewhere and so you're not getting enough air into the engine. 1200 isnt unheard of on a stock engine with stock injectors. What kind of situations are you seeing those temps when you're not towing? Are we talking like a hard full throttle pull or what?
@randylay1439
@randylay1439 5 лет назад
I never drive it hard and bury the pedal. I am seeing those temps on steady moderate hills here in Utah.
@javierdario3784

I just noticed that exact leak on mine, how can I fix it ??
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
Unfortunately the only way is to reseal or replace the pipes. 1) replace the seal on the old pipes. 2) replace old pipes with new bellowed up pipes. Most people put bellowed pipes in. Make sure its not a clamp before you get to far though. If its coming down out below that flange though I'd say you're out of luck. Unless it's really bad it's not in dire need of being fixed, but something that should be done at some point.
@kyleherron4171
@kyleherron4171 5 лет назад
I noticed that mine was leaking a small amount of oil down the up pipe section, seemed odd. I had just put new injectors in when I noticed it. Any ideas? Great videos!
@LivingOnWheels
@LivingOnWheels 5 лет назад
Oil is very commons and not much to be concerned about except in large quantities. Your crankcase vents from your drivers side valve cover into your intake right before the turbo. This causes oil to accumulate and go through you intercooler piping. This is why the IC boots on these trucks tends to get oily over time. Since you said a small amount of oil yours sounds just fine.
