Here's a detailed look under the hood and underneath the all-new 2020 Ford Escape!
The Ford Escape has a 3-cylinder Turbocharged engine with cylinder deactivation, an 8 speed automatic transmission, electronically disconnecting AWD, McPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension.
New for the Escape is an electric brake actuator (instead of a vacuum booster) and a secondary starter for the start stop system. The timing belt is dipped in engine oil for quietness and lubrication.

This is by far the best type of car reviews anyone has ever thought of! We need more people like you to save us from trash modern car manufacturing. Keep it up man honestly, this is going to be a turn of the new decade and I bet most reviewers on RU-vid are going to follow in your footsteps! P.S I NEVER usually leave comments on ANY videos, but this deserves more than I could portray.

Great video! Just as a data point, I've got a 2013 Kuga (EU model Escape) 2.0l TDCi (180 PS) 6-speed PowerShift AWD, and was having issues with the automatic transmission being "jerky", to use a technical term. Two different dealers in two countries all said 5k min. to replace the tranny. Turns out the many times I brought it to the dealer for regular service, they had never changed the transmission fluid or filter. Since this fluid/filter was changed, the transmission works perfectly. I'm happy to have found a more diligent mechanic that understands this stuff. I really enjoy watching your videos and learning - please keep them coming!

Ford really started screwing themselves up with these unmanageable designs. Like what were the engineers thinking? Edit: Keep up your work mate. Engineers were thinking: we will make the best product design requested from us by button pushers on half the budget and on half tine time given to make anything decent. And we did a great job. We met our goal and exceeded it. Not only the car is designed on half the budget and half the time but we managed to make it complicated for maintenance and not reliable so it is disposable after the first use. Those were extra requests from our dear employers - button pushers and we ticked all the boxes. We will get the bonus for this job. What about buyers? That is marketing department. Nothing to do with us. We will never buy this crap.

I just did a 400km round trip with a 2022 rental sel AWD with 5 big adults and man I blown away. I couldnt believe the power and ride composure this thing had. It could easily cruise at 140kmmon the highway. However the downside was the brakes felt underpowered and not very linear. As a comparison to my cousins 2020 Rav 4 AWD with the same passengers you can feel the heavyness. I know it wasn' t the hybrid model but didnt notice any engine vibrations or turbo whistle, so I dont know what drive train it had.

I can attest to this as well. Still early, but I had a 2019 Rav4 and is was coarse as hell, the transmission was terrible at low speeds and lurched, the front end had a massive creaking noise when going over large bumps and also when turning (had them look into it and couldn't find anything. It also had a terrible rattle from the hatch that changed with the temperature and got worse the warmer it was. I think I just had a somewhat crappy one, but I was shocked at the build quality of that Toyota. I now have a new 2022 Ford Escape and so far it's miles better in terms of fit and finish, drivability, and overall technology. Sure, time will tell if the powertrain holds up the way a Toyota would, but it has a lifetime powertrain included from the dealer and I plan to take full advantage of it should the thing break down.

This car actually has a lot of unique and interesting technology. Ford’s Focus and Escape have always had excellent ride and handling-they’re not bad cars. Quality leaves a lot to be desired, but at this price, you can’t have both good workmanship and high tech. And to be fair, the likes of BMW also engineer their cars to be “disposable” in this way.
@simpleinverso8628
@simpleinverso8628 3 года назад
But BMW's are luxury cars for people who can afford to dispose them, while ford makes normal cars which shouldn't break as easily that easily! I have a 2020 escape se awd 1.5 ecoboost with 2500km. So far the pre collision system is faulty as well as the adaptive cruise control. Also for some reason the normal cruise control stopped working. Dealer fixed the normal cruise control but cannot figure out why the pre collision system isn't working. Now the turbo has a high pitch whine during acceleration and the dealer says the turbo is bad and needs to be replaced. Parts are 2 weeks out. Said further use will cause serious damage to the engine. Luckily I'm getting a free loaner until its done. Next car will be a Toyota

@@speedkar99 Thanks for answering. The control arm design sucks but it just makes the repair more costly. The timing belt would've been a deal breaker. I believe you should have a sticker under the hood indicating which one of several Ford coolant colors/formulations was original to your vehicle. As for why the mid-year change, I would try to talk with the service manager at your Ford dealership and ask if he knows the reason for the change (there might be a technical service bulletin about it) and whether they recommend replacing the coolant in the older models with the newer spec.

I'd love to see you compare to the new Yaris 3-cyl some day. Interesting about the timing belt. I wonder if keeping it away from the atmosphere outweighs any corrosive effect of the oil so they don't call for replacement. Still sketch to me. I like the emergency parking prawl disengage feature. Clearly the manufacturing quality is poor, but nobody expects that from Ford.
@speedkar99
@speedkar99 4 года назад
I'd like to see the new Yaris too but I don't think we are getting it in North America? I'm sure Ford has done life cycle testing on the timing belt and other components. While it appears poorly constructed, it is designed to fail at the warranty+1 day Most original owners wouldn't have the car at that point

@@speedkar99 No, we don't get the Yaris here in the US. It's just a dream, not a real request. You think Ford's target democratic will only own this car for 36k miles? I'm sure they *intend* for it to last a little longer than that.

Just got one, they are disposable but I had 113k on my 17’ and was replacing before the big stuff hit. (Insurance sales) I’ll likely replace with Bronco in a few years, there is a science to the even displacement of the ratio on 1.5 liters to 3 cylinders...I’m not certain but this engine even at base has more get up than the 4 cylinder version I previously had. One thing that I’m not happy with is the extras, backup sensor should be standard, that saved a lot of close calls no longer standard, also miss the fog lights the 17 had in the SE trim.

I just don't want to be the one to pay for it. On the other hand....it came with a warranty? So...hm. Might be worth it. I'll give it a few months, winter will tell me if it's reliable.
