This year focus is a 2008, but many fords including the escape will be very similar, and use this same key switch. You get electric power and all dash lights come on but no crank engine. This is a quick and cheap fix to get you going again. Obviously the "right" way would be to replace the lock cylinder but it runs about $80 online depending on where you look.
